We are officially less than 4 weeks away from Selection Sunday (and exactly 4 weeks from the first day of the first round) from one of my favorite times of year, March Madness. Only on Super Bowl Sunday do I ever stay with one channel as long as I stay with CBS during the day of their March Madness coverage, and seeing as this is my first year in college in The Middle Of Nowhere, PA, I've got the added bonus of having 2 CBS stations from which to choose, which in some cases means I may have two games from which to choose. Lucky me! Of course, MMOD is always available, but still, I'm not really one to watch sports on the computer unless there is no other television alternative.
Anyway, here is the latest CBSSportsline projecting the field. (Click on the image for a more readable version)
Yes, I know that San Diego, and not San Diego State, was the team that pulled the upset in the first round last year, but for the love of all humanity, if this indeed does end up being the bracket and Villanova really is playing San Diego State, PLEASE CBS, PLEASE! DO NOT ASSIGN TIM BRANDO TO BOISE, IDAHO!
I know these projections are "fluid" and were probably updated before last night's games, but offensive juggernaut Illinois is a 4 seed in the same region Villanova is a 5?
ReplyDeleteYeah, this writer was a bit kind to the Big 10. While it's not out fo the realm of possibilities for Michigan State to be a 2-seed, Purdue being a 3-seed is being quite kind, in my opinion. And even if this projection was made before last night's abortion, Illinois' only wins that remotely stand out are a blow-out over Ohio State and a blow-out of Mizzou. And Illinois has a really tough schedule (for a Big 10 team, at least) which includes on the road at Ohio State and at home against Michigan State. And oh yeah, the last game of the year is a re-match against Penn State! The basketball gods are rolling in their grave at the thought of that one.
ReplyDeleteMeanwhile, Nova has beaten Pittsburgh, Marquette and it would be shocking if they lose 2 or more of their last games. For the Big East, their schedule is almost laughable (Rutgers, 'Cuse, DePaul, G-Town, ND, and Providence).
