Pedro Portholes in Philly?

(Guest posted by James Craven from The O Files)

So it looks more and more that the Phillies might get out of the Roy Haladay Sweepstakes and pin their hopes on former Met Pedro Martinez, so sayeth The Philadelphia Daily News. Reports say that it's a one-half season deal worth $4.0 million accoring to Dominican sports newspaper.

All I can say is "Stay tuned for more details." BTW, as for the title, I refer you to Paul Lukas.

  1. Toronto probably wanted a lot for Halladay.

  2. Getitng a head start on the posting, eh JC?

I've been reading that the Blue Jays want 2 top minor league prospects and 2 major league players. And while I would be willing to do that deal, I'm pretty sure that is something that the Phillies would do never in a million years. It just is not their kind of trade that they make.

My opinion of Martinez is that the jury is out on him. Despite his hall of fame status, you can't deny is major suckitude in the past year or so, but at the same time, people are saying he looks better now than he did in those years, so we'll see, I guess.

  3. supposedly the Cardinals have offered any 5 prospects to the Jays for Halladay, so yeah it probably makes sense to pin their hopes on the bailing wire and glued back on right arm of Pedro.

  4. So, kt, it would be a Von Hayes/Miguel Tejada Memorial Five-For-One deal?
