Tonight's games....
Game 5: Anaheim @ Detroit 5:00 (NHL Network - Will air TSN broadcast) (TSN - Chris Cuthbert, ItG: Ray Ferraro)
Game 5: Carolina @ Boston 7:30 (Versus - John Forslund and Andy Brickley, SR: Bob Harwood) (TSN - Gord Miller, ItG: Pierre McGuire)
No, that is not a typo. The Anaheim-Detroit is game will be shown on the NHL Network. Versus screwed up and did not schedule this game for some reason and the NHL Network picked it up. And yes, for those of you that don't know, there is an NHL Network (and I get it!). And we also have the return of the awkward broadcast booth with Canes PbP guy John Forslund and Bruins analyst Andy Brickley doing the game together for an exclusive Versus broadcast. Now if only we had Jack Edwards and Tripp Tracy together, then the booth would really be awkward. Actually, it would cease to be a booth but it would be more like a WWE ring. But I digress.....Enjoy the games and leave comments!
And we have the full TSN broadcast on the NHL-N. No NHL On The Fly leading into the game, just the straight TSN broadcast.
ReplyDeleteIf you guys get NHL-N and have a chance to watch this, please do. For this is how a sports network should be covering the NHL Playoffs. And instead of giving us talking heads for an extra segment, we actually get to hear the national anthems.
ReplyDeleteThe Joe is playing "Something in Your Mouth" by Nickelback??? Um....wow...that's not exactly a song that I would use for a hockey game...
ReplyDelete"The Ducks kill the penalty thanks to Johan...Jonas Hiller." - Chicken Parm
ReplyDeleteNo score after 1 in Detroit.
ReplyDeleteWho's winning?
ReplyDelete/Don't get the NHL Network :-(
Set to start the 2nd period from Detroit. The Red Wings have been outplaying the Ducks this game but Hiller has bounced back nice from giving up 5 goals in Game 4, keeping this a scoreless game.
ReplyDeleteFranzen scores on a 3-on-1!! 1-0 Red Wings!!
ReplyDeleteHUDLER! AND JUST LIKE THAT IT'S 2-0 DETROIT!
ReplyDelete2 goals in 37 seconds for the Red Wings. Impressive.
ReplyDeleteAnd once again Versus is the worldwide leager in being doyuchebags for carrying Indy 500 time trials...
ReplyDeleteThe Ducks are just not on the same level as the Detroit Red Wings are in this game.
ReplyDeleteYeah, Versus definitley cares more about Indy Car racing than the NHL. Which is both sad and pathetic.
ReplyDeleteBe back in a few. I have to go eat.
I've just about given up on my Canucks.
ReplyDeleteBENCH KEVIN BIEKSA!
Yeah, I think your Canucks might be screwed.
ReplyDeleteIt's now 2-1 Detroit. Anaheim got a PP goal toward the end of the 2nd and now there is 5:40 to go in the 3rd.
HELM SCORES AND IT'S NOW 3-1 WINGS!!!
ReplyDeleteAnd Jonas Hiller is not happy and I do not blame him. That certainly looked like goaltender interference to me.
BREAKING NEWS: Reported on The506 from a NY Newsday article, John Lynch has signed full-time with FOX and supplants Brian Baldinger. Rodney Harrison and Tony Dungy are now with NBC.
ReplyDeleteBig shakeups.
Detroit wins 4-1 and they now lead the series 3-2.
ReplyDeleteWow. Those are some big shake ups. And naturally, NBC has to make up for all of the people that they lost on the studio show. And does this mean Brian Baldinger is done for good????? If so, YES!!!!!! Now if only Dick Stockton can retire and Tony Siragusa can become a full time deep dish pizza eater and Joe Buck can be knocked out by his own mirror, then the NFL on Fox would be perfect!
Baldy still has NFL Network commitments.
ReplyDeleteThat could mean he could be the new analyst for NFL-N games with Bob Papa.
"John Forslund and Andy Brickley, with our great crew." - John Forslund talking about a crew that he has bene with now for a whopping 2 games.
ReplyDelete@ SSR: NNNNNNOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteFormer Flyer Mark Recchi has made it 1-0 Boston!
ReplyDeleteKESSEL! 2-0 BOSTON!
ReplyDeleteA very busy night for New England sports fans with three events ongoing in the evening with the Olde Towne Team playing Tampa Bay ("The Flavor of the Month" IMHO) on ESPN, the Celts playing the Magic on TNT and CSN new England, and the Bruins hosting the Canes on NESN (Versus running WECkage as the blackout rules apply).
ReplyDeleteDungy and Harrison are two people too many for the FNiA Studio 8G if you ask me. It should be Costas, Tiki, Peter King, Olbermann and Patrick the way I'd work it.
ReplyDeleteand the Bruins hosting the Canes on NESN (Versus running WECkage as the blackout rules apply).Actually this is one of 2 games this series that are broadcast exclusively on Versus which means that there is no local broadcast of the game. Each series in the conference semifinals has 2 such games. And that also explains why the Carolina PbP guy (Forslund) and the Bruins analyst (Brinkley) is doing the game on Versus.
ReplyDeleteAnd it's 3-0 Boston right now with 9:12 left so unless there is a catastrophic Boston collapse, all 6 series will have a Game 6. WOW!
Make that 4-0. Lucic just scored.
