For all the criticism rightfully laid upon Fox Sports and their coverage of the NFL, this may be one of the most awesome things in the history of football journalism. Fox knew the situation that the Metrodome roof was collapsing, knew what could happen, stuck a video camera in the corner of the Metrodome, and gave us one of the most awesome pieces of raw video I have ever seen.
It's been 28 hours now since this video first aired, and this URL alone has nearly 2,000,000 page views. The Giants-Vikings game that was originally scheduled to be played in the Metrodome has been moved to Ford Field in Detroit for convenience of Fox production purposes where apparently they have already sold out. Next week the Vikings are scheduled to play the Bears in the Metrodome on Monday Night Football. While officials remain confident the roof will be repaired in time for that game, it is a good idea to have a back up plan in place. In this game, it would be TCF Bank Stadium on campus at the University of Minnesota. Yes, it's an outdoor stadium. Yes, a Monday Night Football game in frigid temperatures between the Bears and the Vikings would be awesome to see.
Much to RJBO's disappointment, this didn't happen when Jim Leyland sent Fernando Rodney out for a 4th inning of relief during last year's playoff game.
