Head coach Andy Reid confirmed Tuesday on his weekly radio show on 610 WIP-AM that rookie Macho Harris will start at free safety in Sunday’s season opener at Carolina.I thought for sure he'd give it to Quintin Demps.
Harris practiced with the first team during Monday’s brief practice, replacing second-year pro Quintin Demps, who had been working with the first team throughout training camp and preseason.
Ever since replacing the much maligned Sean Considene, Quintin Mikell has been awesome at strong safety next to sure-fire future hall of famer Brian Dawkins at free safety. Well it looks like Andy Reid has wisened up and given the job to Victor "Macho" Harris. I don't care or expect him to be anywhere near as good as Dawkins, I just want to give the kid a chance and I am not a Quintin Demps fan at all so this is great.
MACHO HARRIS IS THE STARTING FREE SAFETY FOR THE EAGLES!!!!!!!! AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh, and in use only diehard Eagles fans care about, the Eagles have signed Tampa outcast TE Alex Smith and cut TE Tony Curtis, thus once again leaving the Eagles with only actice 2 tight ends and one on the practice squad. My opinion on this is meh, you replaced a back-up loser in Schobel with a worse one in Curtis, to a slightly better one in Smith, although the trend seems to be that his numbers drop off with each passing year. But all I care about is that MACHO HARRIS WAS NAMED A STARTER!!! HOLY CRAP!!!!!! YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
