San Diego is magically back in this game, at least for now, so use this as an open thread to document if they can finish the job or not. Guido, if he is still awake, is probably regretting shutting that thread down now.
Tomlin may have a good record in challenges, but this is a touchdown, and this game is 28-14 Pittsburgh with 12:37 to go!
After seemingly putting them away once and for good by responding to that San Diego touchdown mentioned above, the Chargers drove right down the field, recovered the onsides kick, drove right down the field again, and all of a sudden the lead is down to 7, it's 35-28 Pittsburgh with 4:31 to go in the game.
Steelers are in field goal range with 3rd and inches at the 2-minute warning. San Diego has 2 timeouts, but unless they can force a turnover or a missed field goal, it will all be moot.
Steelers kick the field goal and hang on to win 38-28.
"If the Steelers lost this game, they would have to have kept the bars open all night." - Al Michaels
"That would have been all right with some people." - Cris Collinsworth.
Huge 3rd down conversion and then a huge run have the Steelers deep in Charger territory.
ReplyDeleteNow it's 1st and goal Steelers at the 5.
ReplyDeleteTouchdown Steelers on the gadget.
ReplyDelete"This isn't your old mother's Pittsburgh Steelers offense anymore." - Cris Collinsworth
Naturally, I put up the open thread, and the game is once again a blowout.
For some reason, my hatred for the Steelers is up to Orange Alert.
ReplyDeleteWhoa! I turn my back and continue working on school work and all of a sudden I see flashing across the bottom of the screen "Touchdown San Diego!"
ReplyDelete35-21 Pittsburgh with 5:48 to go.
SAN DIEGO RECOVERS THE ON SIDE KICK.
ReplyDeleteHOLY CRAP!! ONSIDE KICK RECOVERY!!!
ReplyDelete"Half the crowd is already home." - Al Michaels
ReplyDeleteThat fact might be for their overall betterment.
I wonder if 12SD and AA have started back up.....
ReplyDeleteGREAT PASS INTERFERENCE CALL.
ReplyDeletePASS INTERFERENCE AT THE 12-YARD LINE!
ReplyDeleteHe was not looking at the ball. Right or wrong, that's called everytime.
ReplyDeleteTOUCHDOWN SAN DIEGO!!!!
TOUCHDOWN SAN DIEGO!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping for the Pittsburgh choke job.
Uh oh, now it's time for the Chargers defense to hold Pittsburgh's offense. Advantage Pittsburgh
ReplyDeleteGame over! San Diego still can't stop Pittsburgh's offense.
ReplyDeleteThe Charger defense has been flat out inept this game. What a shame as the offense has caught fire.
ReplyDeleteSan Diego should have tried another onside kick.
ReplyDeleteThey are inside the 30.
ReplyDeleteAnd for the 3rd time in my mind I declare that this game has over and Pittsburgh has won.
2-minute warning.
ReplyDelete1st down Pittsburgh.
ReplyDelete"Everybody was just coming down, down, down." - Cris Collinsworth
ReplyDeleteMendenhall wrapped up. Timeout San Diego.
ReplyDeleteSteelers throw! The pass is incomplete but there is a flag down.
ReplyDeleteIt's holding on Pittsburgh!
Yes, I agree, take the penalty! It may be the only chance they have is to make sure that Reed does not even have a chance to kick a FG.
ReplyDeleteThey throw to Moore who gets it to the 28 and on will come Reed for a 45-yarder. No gimme at Heinz Fieid.
ReplyDeleteTimeout Pittsburgh.
ReplyDeleteThey are freezing their own kicker.....
Kick is good, but there is a flag down.
ReplyDeleteAnd it's offsides on San Diego. Finally, we can declare this game over. 38-28 Steelers.
Big kickoff return for the Chargers gives the Chargers some life. The order of FG and TD does not matter.
ReplyDeleteRivers is sacked! Loose ball and finally, this game is over!
Steelers 38, Chargers 28.
