I just got your email. I hope the new computer works out well for you!
I was reading True Blue LA and other Dodgers blogs (just for shiggles) and it's hilarious stuff. They are way more hurt over this one than they were with Game 4 of last year's NLCS. Truly some great readings if you're like me and you really don't like the Dodgers at all, and I know you're in that category, Keith. ;-)
@ 49er16: I'm really only rooting for the Angels because of Adenhart (I'm cheesy, I know) and I think they might be an easier match-up for the Phillies than the Yankees.
Besides, if the Phillies choke this thing (highly doubtful with Hamels, Pedro, and Lee on the mound the next 3 games), I would like to see the Angels win.
Wow! Now A-Rod has tied Ryan Howard and Lou Gehrig for the record for consecutive post-season games with an RBI. Howard will try to break that record tomorrow and A-Rod will have his crack at surpassing Gehrig on Thursday.
McClelland is the best umpire in baseball, but he's having a rough night. Of course, if the Angels could get a couple of hits with men on base, no one would be blaming the umps.
I've seen enough. I'm ready to see what offense is more powerful. Phillies or Yankees. Who's more mentally tough, CC or CLee. Who's more clutch Howard or gulp A-Rod.
While it may be east coast heavy, let me tell you what, a Phillies-Yankees World Series would be a huge draw (much better than Phillies-Rays, not that that's saying much, but still). There has always been sort of an unspoken dislike between Yankees and Phillies fans (at least on the Phillies fans' behalf).
Last year, I'll admit, we sort of got a pass with the unlikely upstart Rays (as opposed to the Sawx who even to this day I'm not convinced we would have beaten). But if it's Phils-Yanks, then we'll be beating the best and there will be no doubt in anybody's mind whether or not the Phillies are good enough to repeat as world champions.
Oh, there's no doubt they were a solid team, but there would have been a huge experience advantage for the Sawx if they won that game 7. Phillies and Rays were both on the same playing field in terms of experience with the last Phils World Series team being 1993 and I'm pretty sure you can count on one hand (were there even any) of individual players that played in past world series and the Rays having never been there. Red Sox would have been going for the repeat and they would have been so confident against the Phils, who would have been considered the upstarts in that series.
Lil Sarge grounds out and the Yanks have a 3-1 series lead.
@JFein i'm not arguing with you but every argument you just advanced could apply to the Rays in last year's ALCS and they still beat the Red Sox in a Game 7. That's why I will take nothing away from the Phillies, because they beat an excellent Rays team. It's not their fault Fox and the rest of the media would have preferred the Red Sox.
Good point. And it's not that I feel that the World Series that we won is unjustified. I give us full credit for winning that championship, it's that some days I find myself wondering would the result have been the same if the Red Sox won that game. My points have nothing to do with the way the Red Sox were built up by the media, I just wonder if we could have beaten them as they were a real good team, as were the Rays.
And another reason why I want to see the Angels come back and win the series: Who does not want to see Sarge vs. Lil Sarge in the World Series!?
@JFein Do you think the Sarge wants that? Also, please do not count your chickens before they hatch. The 2007 Indians, 2004 Yankees, and others are still waiting for their World Series trip ;-)
What a crazy day.
ReplyDelete@ Keith: I can't believe you did not have an "LOL DODGERS" post or something like it up today. :-(
ReplyDeleteI guess you were busy with school...
I sent you an E-Mail. I was at school today plus I had computer problems. I finally had to buy a new computer.
ReplyDeleteI just got your email. I hope the new computer works out well for you!

@JFein, read today's open thread over at McCovey Chronicles. Someone over there made a GIF animation on Rollins hit last night.
ReplyDeleteHaha. That GIF is great!
ReplyDeleteYankees and Halos are still scoreless.
I'm rooting for the Yankees. My heart is still broken from 02.
ReplyDeleteOof. It's 3-0 Yankees and this umpiring crew <3s the New York Yankees.
ReplyDeleteYankees lead 3-0 now, and according to Miller and Morgan it's all Howie Kendrick's fault w/ the bad throw.
ReplyDeleteHOW ABOUT IF KAZMIR THREW SOME DAMN STRIKES?
And Swisher is now called safe even though he was out.
FUCK YOU DALE SCOTT

And now Kazmir gets squeezed as Jeter walks.
ReplyDeleteFOX STOP SHOWING THE REPLAY, WE KNOW HE WAS OUT!
God, I thought the macaroni I ate was making me sick...
And Swisher left too soon, not according to the replay (he was still on the bag?, no run, double play.
ReplyDeleteKate Hudson must have a magic vagina.

ReplyDeleteOkay, so I switch to NFL Films highlighted version of the 2006 AFC Title Game between the Colts and Pats on ESPN2 and McClelland blows ANOTHER call.
ReplyDeleteTwo Yankees were at 3rd base and OFF the bag, double play. Screw it.
If the Phils win the NLCS, they'll be playing 9 vs. 15 (Yanks and umps/chumps)
Maybe this reverse psychology is working, 1st and 2nd 1 out, run in, 5-1.
ReplyDeleteForceout, popout, inning over. Back to the Pats/Colts game AFC title game from a couple years back.
ReplyDeleteFor anyone interested, I've got the Week 7 NFL schedule up. Just click refresh and scroll up.
ReplyDelete2 on, 0 out for the Halos.
ReplyDeleteAngels get their first 2 men on but a double play and a hard groundout to first with a nice play by Texiera ruined that potential rally.
ReplyDeleteMcClelland is the best umpire in baseball, but he's having a rough night. Of course, if the Angels could get a couple of hits with men on base, no one would be blaming the umps.
ReplyDeleteFox Business Network In-Game Box Score? Wow.....I've never heard of a sister channel sponsoring a something in a sporting event before...
ReplyDelete@JFein NBC is going to be all over that tactic soon enough...
ReplyDeleteDamon makes it 7-1 with a long HR to right center
ReplyDeleteYeah, McClelland is having a bad game. It's easier to scream about the umps and the Yankees for sucking the life out of this game.
ReplyDeleteAt least the Yanks' overspending finally got them something, a power hitter and a power pitcher who don't suck in October.
It looks like the Yankees are about to go up real big in this series.
ReplyDeleteThis is why the Yankees gave Sabbathia 160 million dollars. Just an outstanding pitching performance.
ReplyDeleteI've seen enough. I'm ready to see what offense is more powerful. Phillies or Yankees. Who's more mentally tough, CC or CLee. Who's more clutch Howard or gulp A-Rod.
ReplyDeleteAbreu throws it away and its 8-1...of course it's all the umpires fault...

10-1
ReplyDelete@JFein i agree, but that Rays team was very solid and better than the Red Sox, despite the "reputation" of the Pink Hatters
ReplyDeleteYankees win and lead the series 3-1
