The Fantasy Football Update You've All Been Waiting For

Seeing as the fantasy football season is over halfway through, I figured now would be the perfect time to pop in for a fantasy football update. Because other than disgusting you by posting my pornographic thoughts of Claude Giroux and Sergei Bobrovsky, I've got nothing else to write about right now.

Now you may remember my original fantasy football roster, well, she's undergone quite a few changes. Of the original 15, only 9 remain. Here is what my roster looks like now.

When I did this draft, I never thought I would end up with Ryan Torain on my team. Ben Watson and Mike Tolbert are recent pick-ups that will be on my team for the first time this Sunday.  Now the standings.  I started out a dynamic 3-0 setting the fantasy football world ablaze yo, but I have cooled off since then, going 1-4 in the past 5 weeks.  But because the NFC is so crappy, I am miraculously tied for 1st place!  Check it out.

The funny part is the last place in the AFC is currently good for being all one in 1st place in the NFC.  Man, these inter-conference pairings have been lobsided.

This coming Sunday, Calvin And Hobbs' brave football players will take to the field against kt1000's Pink Flamingos.  He's got Michael Turner, Darren McFadden, Miles Austin, Calvin Johnson and this is the week Chris Johnson has his bye.  Come on Ryan Tolbert!  Aspeaking of Ryan Tolbert, I almost took BenJarvus Green-Ellis instead of Tolbert to play RB this week, as C.J. Spiller needed to be cut for providing me with shit for 9 weeks.  I now expect Green-Ellis to run for 300 yards this Sunday while scoring 3 touchdowns.

Update: I cut Roy Williams and added BenJarvus Green-Ellis.

Meet The "Calvin And Hobbs" Fantasy Football Team

The good news: My computer did not overheat causing my browser to crash during the fantasy draft! The bad news: I have come to the conclusion that I need a new computer, one with a faster processor, more than 2 GBs of memory, and one that is not 3 years old.

Even though people that did not join the league probably do not care about this, I am posting it anyway. Here is my 1st ever fantasy football team, Calvin And Hobbs! And for those wondering, yes, Jorrick Calvin did survive the final day of cuts. Jorrick Calvin and Ellis Hobbs are still Eagles, at least for now.

QB
Peyton Manning
Carson Palmer

RB
Chris Johnson
C.J. Spiller
Marion Barber

WR
DeSean Jackson
Mike Sims-Walker
Robert Meachem
Michael Crabtree

TE
Brent Celek
Heath Miller

K
Ryan Longwell
David Akers

TM
Minnesota Vikings
New Orleans Saints

If I can make it to the playoffs, I'll be thrilled beyond belief. Even though it is my first time playing, I decided to not go on the safe side with everything. Sure I got Peyton Manning, but I have a feeling Mike Sims-Walker and Michael Crabtree can be real fantasy sleepers. Also, I am taking a chance and hoping that C.J. Spiller lives up to the hype. Certainly some risky picks and if they pay off I hope I can get into the playoffs, if not, then I guess being the Detroit Lions of fantasy football is not the worst thing in the world, right? That distinction goes to having a fear that your computer is showing early signs of death.

Update: I dropped WR Robert Meachem and added WR Kenny Britt, although I put in a claim to another WR that I hope will soon replace Britt. My first fantasy rookie mistake: I cut Meachem thinking I could claim the WR I wanted right away. I did not realize I needed to wait. So I cut Meachem, made the claim, realized he won't be on my team for a week if I even get the claim, and filled out my roster by adding Britt, a WR I had my eye on but did not select.

Eagles Minor Trade Inspires My Fantasy Football Team Name

Admittedly I have never played fantasy football before, but when an increasing curiosity combined with an invite to join SSR's Fantasy League Invitational earlier this evening, I decided to join the club and play fantasy football for the first time this year. Now, as with every fantasy football team, there needs to be a clever name. Well, I guess there does not need to be, but if you ever want to be taken seriously, you need to be kind of clever with your name, pr so that's how it seems. My team name: Calvin And Hobbs. Given that the other 2 options I thought of were "Corn On The Kolb" and "Riley Cooper's Amazing Good Looks," I am confident I made the right decision with team name.

Anyway, the Calvin And Hobbs back story. Yesterday the Philadelphia Eagles made a minor move that normally would not gain much note at all. They traded the 200th pick in the 2010 draft, Charles Scott, for the 201st pick in the 2010 draft, Jorrick Calvin. Scott had no chance of making the Eagles and Calvin had no chance of making the Cardinals, so in that respect, the trade sort of makes sense. But here is the kicker. Jorrick Calvin is a cornerback. It just so happens that one of the Eagles starting CBs this year is Ellis Hobbs. Thus, 2 of the Eagles CBs are Calvin and Hobbs.

For the sake of the Eagles defense, I just hope that the Calvin and Hobbes comparisons ends here.
