Saturday may have been one of the worst sports days for me in recent memory. The Flyers blew a 2-0 lead and lost 5-3 to Buffalo, making it 3 losses in a row for the Flyers. The news of Chase Utley's injury keeps getting worse. Dom Brown broke a bone in his hand and will be sidelined 3 to 6 weeks with the possibility that the power in his swing will be gone for a year or more. Drexel lost on a buzzer beater to VCU in the Colonial Athletic Conference quarterfinals. Villanova played a lost a laughably poor basketball game to Pittsburgh. Everything about this day from a Philly sports fan perspective has been frustrating to embarrassing to sad.
So, how fitting is it then that on this same day not one, but two television personalities utter the phrase "chicken shit" over the air?
First up, Bobby Knight unhappy with the results of some competition on Gameday!
Next up, Don Cherry talking about how Ville Leino went into an icing call in the Flyers game against the Maple Leafs on Thursday.
Two "chicken shits" from two different television personalities on that was for me a "chicken shit" kind of day. That sounds about right.
