Luca Sbisa is playing for Dan Carcillo. He is the 2nd youngest Flyer to ever play in a playoff game, behind only Danius Zubrus.
ReplyDelete"The Flyers were the ones hitting the post in game 1 and Malkin just hit the post here in game 2." - Jim Jackson after the Pens hit the post.
ReplyDelete"That may not be a bad omen." - Bill Clement
"Jackson jinx is working." - Jim Jackson after a whistle blew. He had just commented on how they were going an extremely long time without a whistle.
ReplyDeleteJackson jinx = a running gag on the Flyers broadcasts.
Wow, these refs are letting them play big time. This game is being called completely opposite to game 1 and it is very close to being out of control. I'm in favor of "letting them play", but this is bordering along the lines of insanity.
ReplyDeleteGO CANUCKS!
ReplyDeleteSCOTT HARTNELL SCORES ON THE POWER PLAY!!!!!!! 1-0 FLYERS!!!!
ReplyDeleteAnd Pens fans can't stand the fact that Hartnell scored after what happened Game 1.
What is it with teams and playoff beards these days? Sheesh.
ReplyDelete"Simon Gagne called me Santa Claus today." - Steve Coates on his playoff beard.
Flyers are playing so much better in this game than they did in game 1. They have definitley woken up. Now if only they can stay awake then they will be in business.
ReplyDelete"Fleury with the telescopic leg." - Bill Clement making no sense.
ReplyDelete"There's that telescopic leg again." - Jim Jackson
ReplyDelete"And arm." - Bill Clement
1-0 Flyers after 1.
ReplyDeleteCrosby took a check at the end of the period and now we have a melee.
More pushing and shoving.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to finish up the BOTL semifinal.
ReplyDeleteKelly Hrudey, I'm quite sure that's Garry Galley and not Greg Millen analyzing in Pittsburgh tonight.
ReplyDeleteOuch. Nothing like getting the name of the analyst wrong.
ReplyDeleteThe Devils scored but it was ruled knocked in with a high stick. The refs are reviewing it but I doubt it will be overturned. And I'm right. No goal.
Parise gets redemption for the no goal. He scores a legit one and it's 1-0 Devils.
ReplyDeleteWOW!! WHAT A SAVE BY BIRON!
ReplyDeleteJEFF CARTER WITH A FANTASTIC SAVE!!!
ReplyDeleteYes, you read right, the puck got past Biron but for some reason, Carter was behind him and he stopped the puck from going in.
Well I stand corrected, it sounds like Greg Millen is in Pittsburgh.
ReplyDeleteWell that's odd.
"Marty Biron just answered the age-long question when is half a puck enough. He got the inside part of it and that allowed the outside part to go wide." - Bill Clement......HUH? Correct me if I'm wrong but the entire puck went wide....
ReplyDeleteSo I have the wrong CBC commentator listed then?
ReplyDeleteYes, this was completely unexpected though.
ReplyDeleteIt is still Dean Brown commentating.
1-1 in New Jersey. Carolina has tied the game.
ReplyDelete"Biron takes it in the midsection." - Jim Jackson
ReplyDeleteUm.....is that even possible....?
The results are in!

Pittsburgh's passing seems a little off.
ReplyDeleteAN EQUALIZER FOR PITTSBURGH BY BILL GUERIN!!! 1-1!
ReplyDeleteScore Penguins.
ReplyDeleteI leave for 30 seconds to treat my finger that I cut by banging it against my desk and all of a sudden it's 1-1. Note to self: never cut finger on desk and leave to run it underwater again.
Pittsburgh fans stole our chant!!!!!
ReplyDelete1-1 after 2 at the Mellon Arena.
ReplyDeleteOver to stream of Carolina and New Jersey. I've got the MSG+ stream with Steve-somebody and Chico.
ReplyDeleteSteve Cangialosi
ReplyDeleteHopefully I get CBC for the Blues-Canucks game. The Flyers-Pens game on the site that I am using right now is the Vs. stream and CBC was not used once last night either.
ReplyDelete"You can play until 1 AM, just don't lose the game." - Bill Clement
ReplyDelete"Wait. 1 AM? How about 2:30 AM? We've already been there before." - Jim Jackson
/5 overtime'd.
HOW DID THAT NOT GO IN??? WOW! WHAT A BREAK FOR THE FLYERS!
ReplyDeleteDARREL POWE SCORES!!!!!! FLYERS LEAD IT 2-1 IN THE 3RD!!!!!!!
ReplyDeletePittsburgh is going to tie this up at 2-2 and force OT. I called it first.
ReplyDeleteONIONS! WHAT A SAVE BY FLEURY!!!
ReplyDeleteOH WHAT A PAD SAVE BY FLEURY!!! THAT IS THE SAVE OF THE POSTSEASON!
ReplyDeleteI really hope that you are wrong, SSR.....
ReplyDeleteFlyers and Pens have quite a history of playoff overtime games at the Mellon Arena....
Malkin is having another poor game.
ReplyDelete"Lupul looping well." - Jim Jackson
ReplyDelete"Little hack and whack fest between Crosby and Timonen going on right in front." - Bill Clement
ReplyDeleteJeff Carter gets called for hooking and the Pens have a PP with 4:04 to go in the game.
ReplyDeleteMALKIN TIES IT AT 2-2 ON THE POWER PLAY!
ReplyDeletePens tie it! Malkin got the deflection in front and please excuse me, SSR, while I poof to the Seattle area and cut off his fingers. ;-)
ReplyDelete*your fingers.
ReplyDelete3:06 to go in the game. And that goal went off of Coburn and then off of Evgeni Malkin and poor Marty Biron had no chance on that one.
ReplyDeleteWow. Biron made a huge save.
ReplyDeleteI'm alarmingly accurate.
ReplyDeleteOvertime in Pittsburgh!
ReplyDeleteHoly cow.....this was 9 years ago. Damn, I'm feeling really old right now. As you watch, notice the scoreboard...

The immortal Steve Levy on hockey!
ReplyDeleteI've got that game with the ESPN broadcast on DVD, as part of the collection of the Flyers 10 Greatest games, a collection that came out to commemorate their 40th anniversary a few years ago.
ReplyDeleteI miss the NHL on ESPN. And of course the only PbP guy that Vs. takes from ESPN is our favorite announcer in the world, Joe Beninati.
ReplyDeleteBack underway in Pittsubrgh!
ReplyDeleteAnd this is now currently the longest game thus far in the post-season!
Wow, Greg Millen was the announcer for CBC in the 5 OT game.
ReplyDelete"Hal Gill just swallows people." - Bill Clement
ReplyDeleteThat was followed by 3 seconds of awkward dead air.
HOW ARE THE FLYERS NOT SCORING?!
ReplyDeleteWHAT A SAVE BY FLEURY! I THOUGHT THAT KNUBLE WAS GOING TO GET THAT ONE!
ReplyDeleteMeanwhile, the Hurricanes and Devils are also heading to overtime. Tied at 1 in that one.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like the St. Louis-Vancouver stream is a Vs. stream and Vs. is still on the Flyers game, obviously.
ReplyDeleteNice save by Biron off of the bad turnover!
ReplyDeleteBeen switched to Blues/Canucks so will watch the end on Versus.
ReplyDeleteWow, CBC switched? Or did they just do it for you because your local?
ReplyDeleteLocal since it's the Vancouver CBC.
ReplyDeleteBRIERE IS KNOCKED DOWN AND THE FLYERS HAVE A POWER PLAY!!!
ReplyDeletePENALTY CALLED ON PITTSBURGH!!! The Flyers are going on the powerplay and the fans in the Mellon Arena are livid!
ReplyDeleteBilly Jaffe, the goaltender for PIttsburgh isn't Biron.
ReplyDeleteThank goodness for local broadcasts! And the Flyers have a pretty good crew too.
ReplyDeleteKnuble called for cross checking and it's 4 on 4! Pittsburgh will then have a power play for about 1:30!
ReplyDeletePenalty on Philadelphia and if Pittsburgh wins this game, Academy awards will be given out for that acting performance.
ReplyDelete2-MAN ADVANTAGE COMING UP FOR PITTSBURGH!
ReplyDeleteOH MY GOODNESS!! A PENALTY ON PHILLY AGAIN!!!
ReplyDeleteA 5 on 3 coming in two seconds!
Meanwhile, the Hurricanes won.
ReplyDeleteOffsides on Pittsburgh! Huge break for the Flyers.
ReplyDeleteOFFSIDES ON PITTSBURGH! WHAT A BREAK! Richards and Timonen were both gippy. But Timonen is staying on the ice.
ReplyDeleteGuerin scores and Pittsburgh wins.
ReplyDeleteGUERIN WITH THE SHOT!!!!! SCORES!!!!!!!!! PITTSBURGH WINS!!!! HE SCORES HIS 2ND OF THE GAME AND THE PENS HAVE A 2-0 SERIES LEAD!!
ReplyDeleteUgh!
ReplyDeleteGood news for me, I found a CBC stream of Blues-Canucks.
ReplyDeleteHurricanes win in OT forgot who scored via TSN :D
ReplyDeleteDevils are in trouble, if Eric Staal gets going...he will be a force to be reckoned with. Cam Ward was great tonight & the Canes showed up.
ReplyDelete"First quarter went by in a blink of an eye." - Jim Hughson who is a poet and he didn't even know it.
ReplyDeleteI'll be out for a while. I'll be back.
ReplyDeleteNice set of saves by Mason!
ReplyDeleteI'll be back in a bit. Hopefully by the start of the 3rd period.
ReplyDeleteMason keeping the Blues alive in this game. Luongo is just being Luongo
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteBlues were close but Andy MacDonald hit the post
ReplyDeleteSUNDIN!!!!!!!! COME ON YOU BALD HEADED SWEDE!!!! 1-0 CANUCKS!!! WHOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteSUNDIN FINALLY SHOWS UP FOR THE CANUCKS BUT THIS TIME IN THE PLAYOFFS 1-0 Canucks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteWelcome back to the playoffs Mats!!!
You've been Phaneuf'd!
ReplyDeleteLuongo is the goalie that is most likely to steal a game in the playoffs & he might do it tonight with a little help from that defense.
ReplyDeleteImportant PK kill for the Blues to start he 3rd & Mason is playing really really well but he's facing a player named Luongo
ReplyDeleteI'm back. Canucks still lead 1-0.
ReplyDelete"He got raped across the face by Roman Pollack." - Jim Hughson
ReplyDeleteFunny that expression does not come up in the EA Sports video games...
Jim Hughson & Craig Simpson are the voices the the EA NHL series on PS2 & X Box. Sadly Gary Thorne is the voice now for the PS3 & 360 versions.
ReplyDeleteDumb penalty by Burrows.
ReplyDeleteCRAP!
Blues PP coming up. They need to convert here, Luongo is on his way another shutout which would surprise no one.
ReplyDeleteBlues need to convert this power play. This may be their last real chance to get back into this game.
ReplyDeleteWhat. A. Save.
ReplyDeleteI've seen Luongo do this for a while now. Never gets old when it's not vs the Flames
ReplyDeleteLuongo is the savior.
ReplyDeleteCOME ON AND GET THAT 2ND GOAL!
THERE IT IS BY ALEX BURROWS!!!!!!!!!!! YEAH BABY!!!!!!!!! 2-0 CANUCKS!!! WHOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteBurrows has probably just gave the Canucks a 2-0 series lead
ReplyDeleteI'm really beginning to think that this Vancouver team has a chance to win it all.
ReplyDeleteAND JUST AS I SAY THAT THE CANUCKS SCORE!!! BURROWS! 2-0 VANCOUVER!
"He just takes it hard and banks it in." - Craig Simpson
ReplyDeleteOff the bar by McDonald. PHEW!
ReplyDeleteThe net for Andy MacDonald seems really small. This time crossbar.
ReplyDeleteSt. Louis has had no luck in this game.
ReplyDeleteLUONGO YA BEAUTY!! COME ON!!!
ReplyDeleteThe one thing the Blues have going for them is that they are back at home for the next 2.
ReplyDeleteA rare shot of the announcers on camera.
ReplyDeleteThe NFL on FOX theme?
ReplyDeleteDid Joe Buck's endorsement of the Blues on PTI hurt them today?
ReplyDeleteAnd they have not been blown out and they have been getting some quality chances.
ReplyDeleteThey've got a chance to win a game or 2, I think, if their defense and Mason do not allow an offensive explosion from Vancouver.
"Johnson gets beat cleanly." - Craig Simpson
ReplyDeleteTaking announcers completely out of context can be so fun sometimes!
A MUST convert PP for the Blues
ReplyDeletePenalty on Vancouver for interferene.
ReplyDeleteBlues have pulled Mason.
ReplyDeleteHENRIK!!!! EMPTY NET!!! GAME OVER!!!! YES!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteSEDIN WITH THE EMPTY NET DAGGER! And the Canucks are 2 wins away from the western conference semifinals!
ReplyDeleteGood night everyone!
ReplyDeleteNBA playoffs underway tomorrow!
Well, that was fun!
ReplyDeleteI'll have an open thread up tomorrow for each the NHL and the NBA playoffs, respectively. Thanks for joining me tonight. And I am left to hope that the Flyers can do to the Penguins now what they did to them in the conference semifinals in 2000.
