After yesterday's classic, who knows what we will see today. Japan will try to salvage their run against Venezuela in what will be an extremely important game for them. I never recall Japan going 1-2 in pool play. Saudi Arabia will try to save themselves as well as they will look to upset Curacao. and then in prime time we have the big one. 1-1 Staten Island, NY will take on 1-1 Urbandale, IA in what will be a win or go home game. The winner will join Warner Robins, GA in advancing out of Pool B while the other will be spending a lot more time in the Grove. If I'm around I will try to throw up a live blog of that game, although no guarantees can be made as I do have someplace I have to be early tomorrow evening.

ReplyDeleteDamnit Germany! Now your losing to Mexico!
ReplyDelete"This is an immaculately manicured field." - Sean McDonough
ReplyDeleteWell that's one way of describing it...
Here's to Japan not blowing this game......
ReplyDeleteJapan is up 4-0 in the bottom of the 3rd so it is looking good for them.
ReplyDeleteVenezuela has come back and tied this one up at 4. Japan just can't hold onto a lead at all this year.
ReplyDelete4-4 in the bottom of the 6th inning. Japan at the plate.
ReplyDelete"He's throwing hard." - Orestes Destrade
ReplyDeleteSo much more funny when you're dealing with 11, 12, and 13 year olds.
Japan gets a walk off win on an infield chopper because of a fielding and a throwing error.
ReplyDeleteSaudi Arabia has a team!!!! Or are they representing another US Air Force Base?
ReplyDeleteThey're not an Air Force Base, but all but one of the kids on the team have parents working at the Arabian American Oil Company (ARAMCO) in Dhahran. Even though it is a different thing, most of the kids on the team are American citizens living in Saudi Arabia.
ReplyDeleteTheir interviewing Keith Aument again???
ReplyDeleteHe was in the booth with Gary and Orel last night during the Japan-Curacao game (trust me, I was up 'til 3:00 AM ET watching that game again on ESPN360; I wanted to enjoy it without the pressures of the live blog)
this was earlier during the WA v GA game:
ReplyDeleteas we see a guy asleep holding a camera, Gary: "i bet they'll be some great pictures"
and at the end, Gary: "ESPN the worldwide leader in spots...and sports"
Whoa. I turn around for 5 minutes to find out about a meeting I have to go to tonight (sorry, no live blog tonight), left the game at 2-0 Curacao, and return to find that Saudi Arabia tied it at 2 and 5 seconds of my screen being on, Saudi Arabia took the lead, 3-2, the score that it is now.
ReplyDeleteDossett's 2-run blast makes it 5-3 Curacao in the bottom of the 5th.
ReplyDeletethis is OT, but damn i love watching the Ravens play defense
ReplyDeleteRavens are a great defensive team and I too enjoy watching that defense on the field.
ReplyDeletethe offense, not so much...
ReplyDeleteand for some reason i'm having a hard time with New York being considered Mid-Atlantic
i like how the LL umpires actually ask each other for help, unlike those in the MLB
ReplyDeleteAnd to think that those umps are just volunteers and do not get paid a dime for their work. The wider Little League strike zone not withtanding, I often feel that these everyday volunteer umpires do a better job than the professional major league ones that get paid.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure many New Yorkers would have a harder time being considered from New England....
i agree with you on the umpiring JFein.
ReplyDeleteand i am disappointed that NY put the hammer down on Iowa. i was expecting a really good game.
Same here. Generally win or go home games in pool play in the LLWS are good games that come down to the wire.
ReplyDeleteThis is the first time that I can ever remember where the only thing that would be determined on the last day of pool play is some seedings and pride. Generally there is at least one game where actual advancement into the next round is on the line. At the same time, though, this is all the better for me because I might not be around at all tomorrow and I'll probably be lucky if I see 10 minutes of any game.
