In the 2000 Eastern Conference Semifinals the Flyers played the Penguins and the Pens won the first 2 games. The Flyers won Game 3. The game that followed was arguably the greatest game in NHL history.
ReplyDeleteJust saying.
Note to Steve Coates (a.k.a. Coatsey): Never grow a beard again.
ReplyDeleteFlyers have come out strong so far. Here's hoping that they can keep it up.
WHAT A SAVE BY BIRON!!!!
ReplyDelete"Dear Al, I remember when your hair looked like Eddie Munster." - Bill Clement on Flyers studio host, Al Morganti.
ReplyDelete"Officials need to know that Evgeni Malkin can to to the penalty box." - Jim Jackson on Malkin getting away with calls.
ReplyDelete"It's in his contract." - Bill Clement
Oh! The iron was downright rude to Sykora!
ReplyDeleteWord verification: crois. Which is a conjugated form of the French verb "croire", which means to believe. Je crois = I believe.
The CBC main network is airing this live until the Canucks game begins. Then it will be shifted to a digital channel (CBC Bold I think) and of course can still be viewed on cbcsports.ca
ReplyDeleteThanks. PTM just had CBCsports.ca listed as the channel to view this game on in Canada nationally.
ReplyDelete0-0 after 1 in Pens-Flyers.
Detroit leads Columbus 2-0 after 1.
Carolina leads New Jersey 2-0 midway through the first.
Hey SSR, I'm batting 1.000 with these Olbermann live blogs. Shuster is in AGAIN!
ReplyDeletePenguins just got a little cheapie. That should be reviewed because a). it's pretty much goalline interference and b). I'm pretty sure that was a kicking motion and it went off his glove.
ReplyDeleteIt stands and it's 1-0 Pittsburgh.
ReplyDeleteDAMN! LEFT-HANDED LARCENY FROM FLEURY ROBBED THE FLYERS!
ReplyDeleteSomething tells me something happened with Olbermann in his personal life to cause him to miss so many days.
ReplyDeleteAt least that's one last thing to live blog! =)
Kennedy connects with a backhander and it's 2-0 Pens.
ReplyDeleteFleury has been absolutely lights-out tonight.
ReplyDelete1-0 Canucks. Just tuned in so don't know who scored.
ReplyDeleteCOME ON YOU CANUCKS!!
JFein, for a soccer post, Liverpool played Chelsea and Arsenal in a 1 week span. Liverpool against 2 London clubs in 2 different competitions.
ReplyDeleteBoth games ended 4-4.
Jon Champion's commentary was masterful. I'll find a video for you. He could commentate on the NFL for me.
If ever it was just not meant to be for a team on a night, it's the Flyers tonight. Fleury has been lights out and the puck just has not bounced there way thus far.
ReplyDeleteHere's one! This goal made it 3-3.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iaMJXCfegzs&feature=channel_page
Kyle Wellwood scored the goal for Vancouver.
ReplyDeleteThat was a complete bullshit call. Mike Richards' skate accidentally glanced Fleury's just enough to cause him to stumble a bit, and the refs call tripping. Unbelievably bad and frustrating.
ReplyDeleteFlyers need a goal before intermission. Ther's 5:20 to go.
ReplyDeleteCOME ON FLYERS!!!
Damn! Fleury makes another fantastic save. Good grief, that guy is a brick wall today.
Scoring chances this period:
ReplyDeleteFlyers 10
Pens 2
Goals this period:
Flyers 0
Pens 2
"Scidari will remember that one, boys." - Jim Jackson
ReplyDelete"Yeah, if he can remember it." - Bill Clement
2-0 Pens after 2 and the Pens will be on the power play for 1:45 to start the 3rd.
ReplyDeleteDisappointing......disappointing. Flyers really are playing so well, this game is not being played like a 2-goal Penguin lead.
We got a fight right in front of Luongo after Luongo didn't know where the puck was on a shot.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your offseason JFein. It's ending in 5 just like last year. ;-)
ReplyDeleteAnother power play for St. Louis.
ReplyDelete1-0 Canucks after 1 and the PP will carry over into the 2nd period for :36.
ReplyDeleteSt. Louis doesn't want this series.
Enjoy your offseason JFein. It's ending in 5 just like last year. ;-)On the plus side, though, it won't interfere with the NFL Draft. Game 6, if necessary (and it would be if the Flyers win today or Thursday) would be on Saturday at 3 PM on NBC.
ReplyDeleteIf this isn't a 3rd period of miracles, the Flyers are screwed. And oh goody, no team has come from behind this post-season when trailing after 2.
ReplyDeleteI just found Arsenal 4 Liverpool 4 Fanzone. You have to watch this one (1:13 is classic).
ReplyDeletehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3WD25BrL_UU
Flyers get a powerplay with 14:48 to go and they are down by 2.
ReplyDeleteThey need this.
Flyers nearly had one. Bounced right off the inside of the post and out.
ReplyDeletePowerplay over. Still 2-0 Penguins.
Flyers are getting their 8th powerplay of the game.
ReplyDeleteHow this game is 2-0 Pittsburgh will forever be beyond me.
9 minutes to go.
ReplyDeleteBlues now 1-21 on power plays. They wasted another one.
ReplyDeleteALEX BURROWS!!!!!!! HE'S COME OUT OF THE PENALTY BOX AND HAS TIPPED THE PUCK IN TO MAKE IT 2-0!!! COME ON!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteCARCILLO SCORES!!!!!! IT'S ABOUT DAMN FUCKING TIME!!!!!!! AND THE FLYERS ARE WITHIN 1!!!
ReplyDeleteSorry for the cursing SSR, I know you're not a fan of it, but damn, if you were watching this game and you were a Flyers fan, you'd say the exact same thing.
FYI, there's 7:59 to go in this game.
ReplyDeleteI don't mind swearing provided it's outside of my blog.
ReplyDeleteCanucks on a PP.
NICE SAVE BY BIRON!
ReplyDeleteI can't sit down anymore! Under 6 to go.
Boyes actually scored. 2-1 game.
ReplyDeleteFlyers have not had a decent chance since the Carcillo goal. 5:35 to go.
ReplyDeleteIt's a final in Columbus. 4-1 Detroit wins game 3.
ReplyDeleteMarty Biron just saved the series for the Flyers for the moment! 3:37 to go.
ReplyDelete2:09 to go and the Flyers just had a couple great chances. Still 2-1 Pens.
ReplyDelete2-2 game. ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!! Perron scores.
ReplyDeleteOH!!!! FLUTTERED ACROSS THE CREASE BEHIND FLEURY BUT NO ONE WAS THERE TO BANG IT HOME!!
ReplyDelete1:30 to go.
Down to 66 seconds.
ReplyDeleteTalbot gets an empty netter off a bad turnover by the Flyers and that'll be it with 51.3 to go.
ReplyDeleteFFFFFFFUUUUUUCCCCCKKKKKKKKKKK!!!!!!!
It's official. The Penguins steal one in Philly, 3-1.
ReplyDeleteI am now hoping the Sharks don't get swept.
ReplyDeleteLet me tell you what.....it's one thing to lose a game, but it's another to completely outplay a team in every facet of the game and still lose. Unfuckingbelieveable.
ReplyDeleteMeanwhile, the Devils were once down 3-0 but they've since came back and tied it at 3.
Enjoy the offseason!
ReplyDeleteTHE HURRICANES HAVE WON!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteHURRICANES SCORE RIGHT AT THE HORN TO WIN THE GAME!!!!!!! UNBELIEVEABLE!!!! UNBELIEVEABLE!!!! BRODEUR THINKS THERE SHOULD BE INTERFERENCE AND HE IS THROWING A TEMPER TANTRUM LIKE A LITTLE BABY!!!! IF THE FLYERS CAN'T WIN, AT LEAST I CAN TAKE SOLACE IN THAT THE DEVILS GOT SCREWED!!! FUCK YOU, DEVILS, FUCK YOU AND THEY JUST GOT FUCKED BY THE REFS!!! HAHA!!!
ReplyDelete/End semi-maniacal soapbox rant.
//Watching Flyers outplay Pens only to lose 3-1 does that to you.
I'll be sure to have the video of that up tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteWhat a finish to the Devils/Canes... the Canes just saved themselves...
ReplyDeleteCanucks and Blues are still tied at 2 with 8:30 to go.
ReplyDeletePuck drop soon at the Honda Duck Pond between 2 Pacific division rivals Sharks & Ducks
ReplyDeleteBoth teams have had chances to win this game but neither has been able to do so.
ReplyDelete2-2 with under 2 to go.
Ducks had a golden chance to lead but cannot convert...OT at Scottrade
ReplyDeleteOvertime in St. Louis. I'll be back in 20 minutes or so.
ReplyDelete1-0 Sharks!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OFF A DUCKS SKATE Settoguchi
ReplyDeleteIt's about time the Sharks get a break. Also it's their first lead of the series.
ReplyDelete1-0 Sharks
Will get credit & Pronger making a visit to the box again
ReplyDeleteI thought i heard post & Hiller reaches back take the puck away... still 1-0
ReplyDeleteShit now the Ducks catch a break.
ReplyDelete1-1
Come on Nabby, you scored for Anaheim!
ReplyDeletePavelski penalty proves costly. Ducks score after Nabokov accidentally kicked it into his own net
ReplyDeleteCancuks almost scored on a 2 on 1 & Burrows missed the net
ReplyDeleteI heard post as Canucks almost ended it on a 3 on 1
ReplyDeleteMy heart is in my throat.
ReplyDeleteUnleaded News: The Giants get screwed by the home plate umpire. He called a man safe, when he was out.
ReplyDeleteA shootout at the Honda Duck Pond
ReplyDeleteI'm back.
ReplyDeleteGreat game at Scottrade...still in OT
ReplyDeleteAnother PP for Blues...for 4 mins...Kesler high stick
ReplyDeleteOof. Kesler gets a 4-minute call for high sticking. Great chance for St. Louis!
ReplyDeleteI say Blues must score here
ReplyDeleteWow, this is exciting!
ReplyDeleteGreat game so far...Canucks on PP
ReplyDeleteInstant classic.
ReplyDeletePost again. Incredible.
ReplyDeleteCanucks kill the 4-minute powerplay and now they are on the power play.
ReplyDeleteThis has been one heck of a day of hockey.
The Sedins are killing me with these hesitant shots and poor attempts on goal.
ReplyDeleteThis Canucks-Blues game is just back and forth and back and forth. Absolutely incredible!
ReplyDelete"This is like extra shots at the end of practice." - Craig Simpson
ReplyDelete/College has corrupted my mind.
BURROWS HAS WON IT FOR VANCOUVER!!!!!!!!!! OH MY GOODNESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteBURROWS SCORES!!!!!!!!! CANUCKS WIN!!!!!!! 19 SECONDS LEFT IN OVERTIME AND THE CANUCKS HAVE WON THE GAME AND CLINCHED THE SERIES!!!
ReplyDeleteThe Blues almost got it into OT 2 but Burrows just put the dagger into the heart of the Blues.
ReplyDeleteMeanwhile, San Jose is beating Anaheim 3-2 with 16:29 to go in the 2nd.
ReplyDeleteTime to head over the the Honda Duck Pond
ReplyDelete"Here's Mark and Marc out west." - Jim Hughson
ReplyDeleteThe way he said it made me think that he was going to say "Mark and Marc in the morning."
DAMN I MISSED A FIGHT
ReplyDeleteHere's video of Jussi Jokinen's buzzer-beating, game-winning goal for the Hurricanes.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XIy0h3--Cbs
Come on, Grier.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure Forslund will be out of the hospital in time for Game 5 or if Versus will make him work Game 4 of Cap/Blue Shirts
ReplyDeleteMy Heavens!!!! Pronger of all people 3-3
ReplyDeletePRONGER SCORES AND THE DUCKS HAVE TIED IT AT 3!!
ReplyDeleteAnd 49er16 is not too happy right now, I'm willing to bet. Bad turnover. Bad, bad turnover.
This game is making me nervous.
ReplyDeleteGood night to all!
A gift to Pronger...shouldn't allow him to wind up the big shot
ReplyDelete3-3 at the 2nd intermission from the Honda Duck Pond.
ReplyDelete"Other teams might go 4,5,or 6 more games than these guys went." - Mike Milbury on the Vancouver Canucks
ReplyDeleteUmm.....the highest number of games that anyone can play more than the Canucks is 3.
If this game goes into OT, I'll have issues in class tomorrow
ReplyDelete3rd period is underway from Anaheim.
ReplyDeleteSame here. It's already late as it is. I don't know if I'll be able to make it if it does.
ReplyDeleteOh, Jeremy Roenick just missed from point blank range!
ReplyDeleteAnd as an aside, it would be awesome to see JR win a Stanley Cup.
PATRICK MARLEAU SCORES!!! AND THE SHARKS LEAD IT 4-3!!
ReplyDelete9:10 to go in the game.
I would like to see JR Superstar get the cup one more time...4-3 Sharks on a beautiful Marleau tip & Perry with his head down cause that is a PP goal
ReplyDeleteThey finally convert on the PP for once. Canucks fans are partying like there's no tomorrow. Canadian hockey fans. Most people in my area wish they could riot on the streets but the Leafs are just plain bad.
ReplyDeleteI remember the days back in the early 2000s before the lockout when the Leafs were more or less playoff regulars and they had all those series with the Flyers. But since the lockout, they have just plain bad. Only one playoff appearance post lock-out and no advancments to the 2nd round, if I recall correctly.
ReplyDeleteThe post lock-out salary cap has hurt them & fans wish it was 1967 where they last won a cup...32 years ago.
ReplyDeleteRoenick does not have a cup to his name, if I recall correctly.
ReplyDeleteHe was in the finals in 92 but hasn't been there since.
ReplyDeleteHiller to the bench with 1:20 to go.
ReplyDeleteHiller is pulled now the Ducks trying to tie it up
ReplyDeleteSharks survive Game 3 & they need one more in Anaheim to be back in it
ReplyDeleteSharks win Game 3!!!
ReplyDeleteAnd it was their power play, of all things, that won the game for them.
Good night!
