I'll be out until 8, but that should not stop you from commenting in this open thread!
Game 1: April 14: Ottawa @ Pittsburgh 7:00 (Versus - John Forslund and Darren Eliot, SR: Charissa Thompson) (CBC - Bob Cole and Garry Galley, ItG: Glenn Healy, SR: Elliotte Friedman)
Game 1: April 14: Philadelphia @ New Jersey 7:30 (TSN - Chris Cuthbert, ItG: Ray Ferraro)
Game 1: April 14: Detroit @ Phoenix 10:00 (Versus - Rick Peckham and Daryl Reaugh, SR: Bob Harwood) (TSN)
Game 1: April 14: Colorado @ San Jose 10:30 (Versus: JIP) (CBC - Mark Lee and Kevin Weekes)
Update: While no snakes were thrown at the beginning of the game, when the Yotes tied the game at 1, snakes were thrown. Seeing as Chemmy of PPP started the idea, I should use his screenshot as evidence of the best image in the history of hockey.
My 6:00 to 7:15 class was canceled so I'll be listening to Steggy joke about airplane crashes in the midst of a Penguins game for 20 minutes until I have to be somewhere until 8 (I'm interviewing successors for my on-campus job).
ReplyDeleteThe Senators Pdefense is fearing Marc-Andre Fleury? How weird.
ReplyDeleteI think the remainder of the COL/SJ game on Versus will be from CSN Bay Area not CBC. They simulcasted a bunch of CSN BA and Chicago feeds last year.
ReplyDeleteNew theme music and graphics for Versus.
ReplyDeleteUnderway in PIT. As a Caps fan, I would like to say...LET'S GO SENS!
ReplyDeleteAs far as the Flyers go, I will be doing most of my commenting at Broad Street Hockey. Once you sign up there, you can't comment until 24 hours later, but it is still a very fun place to visit.
ReplyDelete@ Al: You are not the only one rooting for the Sens. Ottawa is the least insufferable of the 3 Eastern Canadian teams and the sooner the Penguins are out of the playoffs, the sooner the other 14 teams can get attention.
ReplyDeleteBob Errey just talked about banging sticks together. Disturbing.
ReplyDeletePP goal for Malkin. 1-0 Pens.
ReplyDeleteSens hooking penalty, 13 seconds later, Pens score. Give them the Cup already Bettman. We know that's what you want.
ReplyDeleteOnly positive is I get to listen to neutral announcers on Versus.
ReplyDeleteInterview time. Be back at 8.
ReplyDeleteSens tie it! Peter Regin makes up for his penalty by putting home the rebound on Spezza's shot.
ReplyDelete1-1 Halfway through the 1st.
Malkin DRAWS another Sens penalty, I say that loosely. PIT pp.
ReplyDeleteSens kill the penalty, 5-on-5 now.
ReplyDelete2-1 Sens
ReplyDeleteChris Neil! 2-1 Ottawa!
ReplyDeleteLike the experts said, you need to stop Regin and Neil. /Sarcasm
LOL New Jersey. There are a ton of empty seats.
ReplyDeletePenguins look awful. 11-3 shots on goal for OTT.
ReplyDelete@49er16 I'm surprised Flyer fans wouldn't buy up the rest of the seats like the Rangers fans did vs. the Devils in '08.
ReplyDelete2-1 Sens after 1.
ReplyDeleteBoucher just robbed Kovalchuk in front.
ReplyDeleteTERRIBLE penalty call, Hartnell was falling before Salvador touched him.
ReplyDeleteFlyers and Devils exchange useless power plays.
ReplyDeleteMy video stream for Flyers/Devils went kaput. FAIL.
ReplyDelete@AL: I have a new one if you need it?
ReplyDelete3-1 Ottawa, thanks to a lucky carom off the boards! Chris Kelly!
ReplyDelete@49er16 Do you want to email it to me separately or post it?
ReplyDelete@Al: I don't know how to post a link here, so I'll e-mail it to you.
ReplyDelete@Al: Duh, just go to P2P4U for a stream.
ReplyDeleteOkay. Also, it's nice to see the Penguins struggling.
ReplyDelete@49er16 I usually go to ATDHE, the feed they posted went out.
ReplyDelete@Al: I e-mailed you a website where you will be able to find a stream.
ReplyDelete@Al: I suggest signing up for an account with SB Nation. It's free and you can sign up and comment on whatever blog you want. And they have blogs for everything. I'll be commenting over at Fear The Fin for the Sharks game and JFein is at the Flyers blog. The Caps blog is one of the best on SB Nation.
ReplyDeleteI got the e-mail. I might try SB Nation.
ReplyDeleteMy sister came back from work is talking me. So that's why I didn't go postal when PIT scored.
It seems like I've missed an interesting hockey game thus far...
ReplyDelete4-2 Sens!
ReplyDeleteChris Pronger is awesome when he is on your team.
ReplyDeleteBoucher, Brodeur, Elias, and Gagne may be the only players in this game that played in the 2000 series, but this game is so reminiscent of those battles in 2000.
EL CAPITAINE!!!!!!!!!!!!! GO FLYERS!!!!!!!!
ReplyDelete2-0 Flyers. Awesome.
ReplyDeleteI'm rooting for the Flyers because Wysh is a Devils fan and he writes a lot of anti-Sharks propaganda.
ReplyDelete2-0 Flyers.
ReplyDelete5-3 Sens.
Yeah I'm having a good night right now.
@JFein: I signed up for a Broad Street Hockey account, so you should sign up for a Fear the Fin account ;-)
ReplyDeleteThey don't review the Gagne shot and then the Devils score.
ReplyDeleteWow. Controversy with the Devils tie it up?
@ Keith: I just signed up, but now I have to wait 2 days before I can comment.
ReplyDeleteI thought i had already joined.......
Never mind, the Gagne shot was all post. per the MSG+ replay. No replay was shown on CSN and the live shot made it looked like it was in.
ReplyDeleteOther fans watching and beat writers watching live on Twitter thought so too at first.
I love Brian Boucher.
ReplyDeleteFlyers win 2-1. That was not an easy finish, though.
ReplyDelete@JFein: Plank must be keeping the trolls away with the two day waiting period. Well, when your account is activated, come and join us for Game 2 ;-)
ReplyDeleteDamnit they did not throw the snake!
ReplyDeleteWho cares what the organization says, THROW THE SNAKE!
Damnit. Wings lead 1-0.
ReplyDeleteThe Five For Howling thread is pretty nuts right now, for anyone interested.
ReplyDeleteTIE GAME!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteA SNAKE WAS THROWN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeletePicture of snake coming.
ReplyDelete2-2. And I think more snakes got thrown.
ReplyDeleteI am seriously beginning to think that this night is the crowning achievement of SBNation.
ReplyDeleteI am really, really impressed by the play of the Coyotes tonight.
ReplyDeleteCoyotes win 3-2
ReplyDeleteYOTES WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeletePittsburgh lost.
ReplyDeleteFlyers won.
Snakes were thrown.
Coyotes won.
This night is AWESOME!
Now to watch the Sharks choke, er, I mean San Jose and Colorado duel it out in a game currently tied at 1.
ReplyDeleteAVS GOAL!!!
ReplyDeletePost-season Sharks strike again!!!
ReplyDeleteSeriously. I have never laughed so hard so many times while watching hockey in my life.
what a finish in San Jose...Avalanche steal it 2-1
ReplyDeleteKeith is upset and I feel bad for him, but this is some funny ass shit.
ReplyDeleteI don't hate San Jose, but it's like every stereotype about the Sharks in the post-season that I ever joked about and made fun of come true once again in one heart-wrenching moment. I can't help but laugh.
thanks Versus for rushing off the air, instead of recapping what apparently was a great 1st night of playoff hockey.
