  1. 'The last 2 playoffs have provided hattricks that double your pleasure." Beninati

its 1/2 hour to game time and he's making my blood pressure rise

    ReplyDelete
  2. @kt It's him or screaming Steve Kolbe...

At least I don't have to be jealous of national viewers getting Sam Rosen for the Caps game tonight.

Versus (w/ Rosen) is airing Bruins-Sabres.

    ReplyDelete
  3. Beninati on Ovechkin and Backstrom:

    "These 2 championship thoroughbreds..."

    what championship?

    ReplyDelete
  4. Scoring championships...doesn't mean a damn thing.

It's going to be a long night and the game hasn't even started.

    ReplyDelete
  5. Kevin Pollock and Kelly Sutherland are the refs, I don't expect a lot of power plays.

    ReplyDelete
  6. Possible cross-check by the Caps let go.

    ReplyDelete
  7. 1 thing about the NHL: I can't rip the refs by name they way I do NFL or college basketball refs.

  9. 8 of the last 9 Caps-Habs games decided by a goal, 5 in OT.

    Hello, pepto-bismol.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Nice defensive hustle by Semin to stop that rush, hell has frozen over.

    ReplyDelete
  11. the Caps power play is in a deep freeze

    ReplyDelete
  12. good to see 2009 Varlamov back in goal

    ReplyDelete
  13. I stepped away and obviously they didn't score. They've stunk on the PP in the playoffs.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Varlamov makes the save with his mask but Caps penalty.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Montreal Power Play, cross checking on Washington

    ReplyDelete
  16. these Montreal fans are ridiculous. they want a penalty every time a Cap breathes on a Canadien

    ReplyDelete
  17. Wideman ties it for Boston. 1-1

    ReplyDelete
  18. Caps power play. Tripping on Plekanec

    ReplyDelete
  19. Tripping on Montreal as Joe B and Locker talk about a guy named Screwy.

I don't make it up, folks.

    ReplyDelete
  20. the Caps power play really sucks right now.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Joe B and Locker now want a penalty on the Canadiens anytime a Cap player is knocked down. /Hometown biased

    ReplyDelete
  22. Forget breathing, if a Cap is in the area code of a Hab player, the fans get pissed.

    ReplyDelete
  23. "[The fans]should be wearing zebra stripes" Beninati

    ReplyDelete
  24. 0-0 in Montreal end 1

    great period from Varlamov

    ReplyDelete
  25. I rather have Gord/Pierre on the call than Joe B.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Mike Keenan is no Bobby Knight when it comes to TV.

    ReplyDelete
  27. It's laundry time then it's hockey time. About time.

    ReplyDelete
  28. @flmesfn12 I'm a Caps fan and I agree. Too cute w/ the cliches and dumbing down on a local broadcast.

I understand simplifying on a national broadcast but it sounds like Hockey 101 every game.

There's a clear difference comparing us to other local broadcasts.

    ReplyDelete
  29. cue the bandwagon fans cracks from JFein...

    ReplyDelete
  30. Don't mention Redskins quarterbacks, guys.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Power Play to Montreal, penalty on Fleischmann

    ReplyDelete
  32. Fleischmann called that penalty on himself, dumb hook in the offensive zone.

SCORE!!!!!! KNUBLE MAKES UP FOR FLASH'S STUPIDITY!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  33. "that's the kind of penalty killing the Caps need" Laughlin

    no kidding

    ReplyDelete
  34. Gordon with the shortie to take the lead 1-0 for Caps.

Gordon played for the Red Deer Rebels. Pierre'd

    ReplyDelete
  35. Gordon gets credit, he and Knuble made up for Flash!!! That's teamwork.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Gordon got the goal, not Knuble

    /bookkeeping'd

    ReplyDelete
  37. it was Beninati's fault for calling out Knuble

    ReplyDelete
  38. the Caps really need to stop being so unselfish

    ReplyDelete
  39. Semin with a shoulder check!

    Varly stones Gomez.

Flash stinks tonight, shoot don't pass!

    ReplyDelete
  40. @kt Pierre just called them out on it. He thinks they are way too pretty right now.

    ReplyDelete
  41. @flmesfn12 Does he have any mancrushes yet?

    ReplyDelete
  42. Lucic or Boynton just ran over Ellis.

    ReplyDelete
  43. SCORE!!!! LAICH FROM WAY OUT W/ FEHR IN FRONT!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  44. @Al He just went off on Boyd Gordon after the 1st goal

    ReplyDelete
  45. "It's not crackling in here anymore." - Gord Miller after the Caps made it 2-0.

    ReplyDelete
  46. BTW, Good things happen when you get the puck to the net. /Edzo'd

    ReplyDelete
  47. Pierre with his typical CHL team drop. He just mentioned that Carlson played for the London Knights.

    ReplyDelete
  48. i'm shocked, shocked JFein isn't using a CSN-DC stream...

    ReplyDelete
  49. Kostitsyn not on target, thankfully.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Varly at one end and Eric Fehr at the other!!!! 3-0!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  51. Here we go. Pierre's mancrush on Carey Price is going to begin.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Damn. 3-0 Caps and it's Carey Price time.

    Time to switch to Buffalo-Boston!

    ReplyDelete
  53. Halak, SEE YOU LATER!!!!!! /Bob Carpenter'd

Chimera isn't buying Lapierre's offer to fight. Good discipline.

    ReplyDelete
  54. @ kt: Unfortunately, I am yet to find a CSN-DC stream.

That would be the only thing saving this game.

    ReplyDelete
  55. TFC lost again yesterday. Help me.

    Go Canucks!

    ReplyDelete
  56. "The Caps have driven Halak to cover"

smug Beninati has arrived in Montreal

    ReplyDelete
  57. Beninati just called out Carcillo for being in a fight w/ Talbott that rallied Pittsburgh to last year's Cup

    ReplyDelete
  58. Interference penalty against Buffalo.

Dean Brown is so dull. Worst announcer CBC has.

    ReplyDelete
  59. @ kt: Seriously? He brought that up? Ugh.

Because creaming Max Talbot in a fight at home when up 3-0 is the reason the Pens got several lucky bounce goals that enabled them to come back and beat the Flyers, amirite?

Joe Beninati and Eddie Olczyk are complete asses.

    ReplyDelete
  60. And the Nats lead 5-2 over COL, LG, life's good.

Okay, there's my 10 seconds of smugness.

    ReplyDelete
  61. @JFein yup. he was trying to praise Jason Chimera for not getting into a fight/ Laperriere and that was the example he used.

    ReplyDelete
  62. "Just a tremendous onslaught by this Caps offense...what a dart by that Ovechkin to the top shelf" Laughlin

    ReplyDelete
  63. OVECHKIN TOP SHELF!!!!! 4-0!!!!

Where was this play in D.C. where we needed to come from 3 goals down to win 1 home game.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Habs look out of it after the Shortie from Gordon. That will make it 5 straight home playoff losses for them.

    ReplyDelete
  65. "Carey Price stops that one, but moments ago he was not match for The Great Eight." Beninati

    ReplyDelete
  66. It's sad I am watching this Buffalo-Boston game, isn't it? And no Jack Edwards stream either. :-(

    ReplyDelete
  67. @kt I agree w/ not wanting to get suckered into either a bad penalty or bringing the crowd alive if you're the Caps.

Still our announcers are very smug.

    MON penalty, cross-check on Gionta.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Caps power play...cross check on Gionta

"Gionta was giving it to him from behind..."

    /out of context'd

    ReplyDelete
  69. @ SSR: You're right. Good grief Dean Brown is dull.

    ReplyDelete
  70. It was a soft call considering 3 guys were on top of another Cap in the crease if you were going to penalize Montreal.

@flmesfn12 You're right, everything changed after Gordon's goal.

    ReplyDelete
  71. @Al i agree that Chimera has been smart, but the analogy to the Philly series last year is complete revisionist history, as JFein says

    ReplyDelete
  72. Price made a good save on that Knuble knuckleball shot.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Caps power play still powerless

    ReplyDelete
  74. Caps will get another chance, goalie interference and unsportsmanlike conduct on Plekanec..

    Habs are self destructing

    ReplyDelete
  75. @kt Yup, the good news is Versus has at least 2 games next round exclusively if the Caps advance.

    Hopefully, Beninati isn't involved.

Plekanec gets a double minor for slashing and unsportsmanlike conduct.

    ReplyDelete
  76. Classic Jacques Martin. Teams don't really show up in the playoffs. Just ask Sens fans.

    ReplyDelete
  77. My mistake, goalie interference and unsportsmanlike. I saw a slashing motion by the ref.

    ReplyDelete
  78. that was an awesome 2nd period from the guys in white

    ReplyDelete
  79. 4-0 Caps after 2 periods.

BTW, I'm not assuming they're advancing after tonight but pointing out that CSN wouldn't televise every game next round.

We could have some objective announcing...

    ReplyDelete
  80. local CSN anchor showing a big hit in the Boston game: "that'll jar your preserves"

    ReplyDelete
  81. Perfect.....no Andrew Alberts starting tonight. Hopefully he has no ice minutes.

    ReplyDelete
  82. Meanwhile, the Caps played like a team who won the President's Trophy, dominating period.

    ReplyDelete
  83. "Look at this Hall-of-Fame swing, kids." -Rob Dibble on Todd Helton

Nobody in the D.C./MD/VA area is watching the Nats game...except me.

    ReplyDelete
  84. Wouldn't it be funny if Carey Price was the Flyers goalie next year. The sad part is, I think the kid has potential and, above all else, might just need a change in location.

Carey Price to the Flyers is a real possibility, by the way.

    ReplyDelete
  85. @Al i'm sure I'll be the only person up at 1 am watching the Orioles and Mariners...

    ReplyDelete
  86. Caps are only out-shooting the Habs 21-18, I think it would be more if they shot instead of pass on some rushes.

    ReplyDelete
  87. @kt I might if the Canucks-Kings game is decided.

Versus lucked out tonight, BUF-BOS is a tie game and WAS-MON is a blowout.

Last night, the Versus early game was a blowout.

    ReplyDelete
  88. well my night got a little worse:

Kyle Singler is coming back to Duke for his senior season

    ReplyDelete
  89. Now the Versus picture on Comcast-Montgomery County is flickering between the game and a black screen.

    ReplyDelete
  90. MILLERRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!! /Rick Jeanneret'd

    ReplyDelete
  91. It's basically time for Monday Night Raw...I mean Smackdown

    ReplyDelete
  92. Vincent Damphousse looks like he wants to beat up some Caps. Dude looks pissed

    ReplyDelete
  93. @kt I'm going to pretend I didn't read that.

    ReplyDelete
  94. Laich called for hooking. still nothing doing on the Caps PP

    ReplyDelete
  95. @Al the GMan is already calling back to back

    Plekanec scores. 4-1

    ReplyDelete
  96. Plekanec on the rebound of his own shot, 4-1.

Boudreau better light the team up. Comebacks can happen, see game 2.

    ReplyDelete
  97. Martin Brodeur should not have been a Vezina finalist.

Anderson or Howard would be better off in there. Regardless, I think Miller is the easy winner this year.

    ReplyDelete
  98. The chance that every series starts out tied like they all did this year is less than .3%.

    Talk about amazing and incredible.

    ReplyDelete
  99. @JFein Anderson isn't a finalst? Forget last night, the Avs are outshot in every game. That's reputation on Brodeur being named a finalist.

    ReplyDelete
  100. Cammalieri just missed, can we play like it's the 2nd period?

    Boudreau calls TO, good move.

    ReplyDelete
  101. Knuble to the box for high sticking

    ReplyDelete
  102. Knuble takes a penalty, not what we needed.

    ReplyDelete
  103. good penalty kill for the Caps

    ReplyDelete
  104. Raw is great stuff right now.

    ReplyDelete
  105. Recchi knocks down Kennedy and sets up Bergeron. 2-1 B's.

    ReplyDelete
  106. @flmesfn sorry, but I was never into wrestling, even when I was a little kid

    ReplyDelete
  107. Lots of penalties in Boston, big fight. Secera and Sobotka were one bout.

    ReplyDelete
  108. Boston leads the Sabres 2-1. Wow.

    ReplyDelete
  109. @ Al: Amazing, isn't it? It's Miller, Bryzgalov, and Brodeur. The 1st 2 are obvious, and Brodeur got in on name only. He has the shutouts but otherwise his numbers do not compare with the others.

    ReplyDelete
  110. Knuble back to the box for Goalie Interference

and cue the whining from Beninati and Laughlin

    ReplyDelete
  111. It's 4-1 Caps, guys... (@Beninati and Laughlin)

    ReplyDelete
  112. I think the guys are happy w/ THAT penalty call, 4-on-4.

    ReplyDelete
  113. Montreal almost scored an own goal...

    ReplyDelete
  114. 2 minutes left in Boston, Buffalo can't get in.

    ReplyDelete
  115. Boston is 44.1 away from shocking Buffalo yet again.

    ReplyDelete
  116. @JFein I'm not too shocked. Without Vanek the Sabres have basically no O.

    ReplyDelete
  117. @JFein Who knew the Bruins would be creating more excitement than the Red Sox?

    ReplyDelete
  118. @ flmesfn: The same can be said with Boston and Savard.

As much as I have ripped the Burins this week as the worst playoff team in the field of 16, if they can win the series and if Rask can keep playing like this, watch out, this could suddenly become a real dangerous team. There are whispers that Savard could return in the 2nd round.....

    ReplyDelete
  119. Of course, Versus goes to commercial instead of staying in crazy Boston for a couple of minutes.

YOU HAVE HALF AN HOUR UNTIL YOUR NEXT GAME, IDIOTS!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  120. roughing penalty on Laperriere

please score a power play goal...

and Beninati, please never say anything in French ever again

    ReplyDelete
  121. Lapierre to the box, WSH power play.

    Fans leaving Bell Centre.

Beninati and Laughlin are really cocky tonight.

    ReplyDelete
  122. Bulls lead the Cavs 65-64 in the 3rd quarter.

    ReplyDelete
  123. Caps score again.

At least some things are back to normal in these Stanley Cup playoffs.

    ReplyDelete
  124. a throughly enjoyable 5-1 Caps win...

    ReplyDelete
  125. Caps win 5-1 and lead the series 2-1.

    ReplyDelete
  126. Nats win 5-2, back over .500, good sports night.

    ReplyDelete
  127. Tied at 74 in Cleveland, late 3rd QTR.

    ReplyDelete
  128. @ kt and Al: I hope your Caps did not just literally cause the destruction of Montreal....

    ReplyDelete
  129. Off to Nucks Misconduct to enjoy/cry for the Canucks win/loss.

    ReplyDelete
  130. 1-0 Canucks early, missed the goal for dinner.

    ReplyDelete
  131. Now that I've got my laundry all squared away, I can enjoy the Vancouver-L.A. game

    ReplyDelete
  132. Lebron is taking over, 15 pts in the last 6 minutes, 40 for the game! 107-98 Cavs and less than a minute.

    ReplyDelete
  133. 110-100 Cavs, 33 seconds left. This series is over. Bulls are not winning 4 of 5 from Cleveland.

    ReplyDelete
  134. Doughty ties it at 1 for the Kings!

    ReplyDelete
  135. Ehrhoff for slashing, Kings power play.

    Doughty scores! Game tied!

    ReplyDelete
  136. The greatness that is Drew Doughty.

He played his junior hockey for the Guelph Storm. Pierre'd

    ReplyDelete
  137. O'Donnell for high-sticking. Canucks power play.

    ReplyDelete
  138. Penalty killed, under a minute in the 1st.

    ReplyDelete
  139. I don;t think kt1000 will stay up until 1:00 AM for the Orioles game, 7-0 Seattle in the 3rd.

Poor team, I thought they would be competitive this year. There was legit optimism too from some baseball people.

    ReplyDelete
  140. Dan Boyle's own goal has now gotten 205,678 hits on YouTube. Yep. He's gone viral.

    ReplyDelete
  141. Keith will soon kill me if I keep posting stuff on this, but I swear it keeps getting better.

Listen as Gus Johnson's long lost twin calls the Boyle own goal on the Avs radio broadcast.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7IpaAYMWpjs

    ReplyDelete
  142. Handzus, another LA power play goal, 2-1.

"They have the Canucks penalty killing perplexed and bewildered." -Razor

    ReplyDelete
  143. Stoll slashing, big chance for the Canucks to get back into the game.

    ReplyDelete
  144. I remember when Jim Hughson and Craig Simpson would invade my video game...

    ReplyDelete
  145. @ Al: Razor is the man. The only feeds I can find are CBC feeds with Hughson/Simpson.

    ReplyDelete
  146. Kings special teams>Canucks special teams

    Quick robs Grabner.

    ReplyDelete
  147. 3-1 Kings as I watched Bruce Boudreau yell at the Caps during a recent practice in a CSN behind-the-scenes feature.

Simpson is a very good nuts and bolts analyst but not exciting,

    ReplyDelete
  148. Oh my gosh Andrew Raycroft is about to enter the net.

The Kings have a real potential of getting 9 goals this game, don't they?

    ReplyDelete
  149. Richardson made Rome and Luongo feel like they werer in quicksand, 4-1 Kings.

    ReplyDelete
  150. @JFein I'm watching Jazz/Nuggets now. Vancouver is pulling a Montreal from earlier.

Jerry Sloan just got a technical foul.

    ReplyDelete
  151. Samuelsson, 4-2. I keep missing goals.

    ReplyDelete
  152. no hitter thru 6 in Seattle

    shoot. me. now.

    ReplyDelete
  153. I didn't even notice Ian Eagle calling the Nuggets-Jazz game. I think this is the first time he's worked for TNT.

    ReplyDelete
  154. Rough stuff at the end of the period starting with Kesler and Smyth.

    4-2 LA after 2 periods.

    ReplyDelete
  155. @kt I just heard about it on Sportscenter. They have 3 innings...there's hope (I think).

    ReplyDelete
  156. Utah up 8, largest lead, on Denver nearing halftime.

    ReplyDelete
  157. now the O's can go back to regular sucking

    ReplyDelete
  158. Utah by 12, Billups looked like he got all ball but was called for the foul by Ken Mauer, Tom Heinsohn's favorite ref. /Sarcasm

    ReplyDelete
  159. @kt THEY HAVE A HIT!!! Okay, the excitement is gone.

    ReplyDelete
  160. CSN is replaying Washington Post Live from earlier as usual in this timeslot and they're previewing game 3 of the Caps-Canadiens series.

I think the Caps are going to bounce back and win, I'm predicting 5-1.

    ReplyDelete
  161. Burrows with the quick backhand wraparound, off Daniel Sedin's skate and in.

    Under review.

    ReplyDelete
  162. Long review delay, it should count, no distinct kicking motion.

    ReplyDelete
  163. This is close.

It will all come down to how much Gary Bettman likes the Canucks. You can cut the tension with a knife folks.

    ReplyDelete
  164. Can we make Peckham and Reaugh, the #2 team for the conference finals?

Hilarious discussion about trying to tell Henrik and Daniel Sedin apart.

    NO GOAL! I'm shocked.

    ReplyDelete
  165. NO GOAL!!!!!!!!!!

Gary Bettman hates the city of Vancouver. Personally, i disagree and Jim and Craig agree with me.

    ReplyDelete
  166. @JFein Gary Bettman hates the Canucks.

    ReplyDelete
  167. DANIEL SEDIN!!! THAT'S A NO DOUBTER!!!!!! CANUCKS WITHIN ONE!!!

    ReplyDelete
  168. "This one for Daniel Sedin will count!" -Peckham

    4-3 Kings now.

    ReplyDelete
  169. @ Al: I am not a big Peckham fan, but Daryl Reaugh is awesome. I wish I had a Versus feed just to hear him.

Oh well. I am assuming he will get a conference final again so I will wait my turn and listen to him then.

    ReplyDelete
  170. Oh no we're on the power play.

    ReplyDelete
  171. @JFein yes, but then you'll be stuck w/ Beninati as well

    ReplyDelete
