  1. Holy crap! 18 seconds in and the Sens are already up 1-0!

    ReplyDelete
  2. Didn't take Ottawa long to score.......

    ReplyDelete
  3. That was one of the luckiest bounces I've seen on that Crosby goal. Even luckier than that bounce off of Rob Blake's skate in game 1 of the Avs-Sharks game.

    ReplyDelete
  4. Holy crap Bill Clement. What the heck is that outfit?

    ReplyDelete
  5. How you know it's the playoffs: Steve Coates is drunk before the faceoff.

    ReplyDelete
  6. Andy Sutton just nailed Jordan Leopold in front of the penalty boxes.

Leopold was knocked out for a couple of moments.

Pens' trainers helped him off the ice, no penalty on the hit.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Mike Rupp nailed a Senator into the zamboni door.

Now Zach Smith and Max Talbot are throwing punches.

    ReplyDelete
  8. That sucks for Jordan Leopold.

Really Coatesy? Zach Parise is one of the league's "best kept secrets?"

    ReplyDelete
  9. I thought he was found during the Olympics. /Sarcasm

    ReplyDelete
  10. I'm not listening to the Hockey Central guys break down last night's Caps game. I've heard enough.

    ReplyDelete
  11. ASHAM!!!! WHAT A PLAY BY GIROUX TO CREATE THE GOAL!!!!

1-1 and it's about time the Flyers start playing with life.

    ReplyDelete
  12. @ Al: And it's not like Parise was exactly a nobody heading into the Olympics. Maybe my view is distorted because the Flyers play him 6 times a year, but surely he was a fairly well-known player in the hockey community in general before the olympics, no?

    ReplyDelete
  13. I mean not everybody (does anybody?)watches New Jersey Devils hockey so the Olympics were a world showcase for Parise.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Dear Ottawa, play some offense. Signed, Me.

    ReplyDelete
  15. GIROUX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There is a reason is evily smiling face is the centerpoint of my Blogger avatar, and that's why.

  16. "If he's feeling anything like he looks, he's feeling really good." - Bill Clement

    ReplyDelete
  17. Flyers started poorly, but then really picked it up in the 2nd half of that period. 2-1 Flyers after 1.

    Ice cream time.

    ReplyDelete
  18. "This is just a discussion so you can dissect this." Forslund to Eliot after a minor Pens/Sens scrum.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Forslund can't even read a post-whistle promo without pausing for "a wrestling match to take place".

    ReplyDelete
  20. Sutton wrestles Malkin down, PIT 4 v. 3 power play. Crowd cheered Sutton and then booed him, weird.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Elliott stops Ponikarovski right after the PP ends.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Guerin accidentally high-sticked Crosby, the crowd thought it was a Senator and booed the refs for not calling a penalty. Funny stuff.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Playoff series that are also divisional rivalries are flat out awesome.

    ReplyDelete
  24. “I think Colin White thinks that Giroux means ‘pinata’.” – Bill Clement

I think Clement might be onto something. Good grief.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Ruutu had the worst dive in history after Crosby pushed him. The announcers called him out immediately. He leaped into the boards.

    ReplyDelete
  26. “Until the time he did go down, he was up on his feet.” - Steve Coates

    ReplyDelete
  27. "Pinata strikes back." - Bill Clement after Giroux got called for a high stick.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Penguins PP, 13:35 left in the 3rd, tied at 1.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Penalty killed. Ottawa back to full strength.

    ReplyDelete
  30. CROSBY CLEARS IT OFF THE GOAL LINE!!!!! DAMN IT!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  31. Flyers are definitely playing on their heals in this one and it shows.

    3-2 Devils.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Off-topic, but holy shit it is pouring rain here.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Crosby gets out of one hell of a jam behind the net and finds Letang for the go ahead goal.

    That was great stuff.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Kris Letang from the point, 2-1 Pens. Crosby also made Spezza look silly controlling the puck behind the net.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Pronger pulled a Sean Avery on Brodeur and deflected a shot on to even the game at 3 now at 2nd intermission.

Meanwhile the Pens took the lead with 4:12 left. I wanna say LeTang scored, but bleh, the Penguins are likely going to win that one.

    ReplyDelete
  36. SPEZZA WITH ONE LAST CHANCE! SAVED BY FLEURY! CLEARED AWAY AND THE PENS WIN! ANOTHER ONE GOAL GAME!

    ReplyDelete
  37. I wonder why Versus doesn't go to NJ first since they're doing "bonus coverage" from other broadcasts.

Unless they're producing DET/PHX themselves, it makes no sense.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Roy Halladay is pitching tonight. The Phillies are winning 8-2. What else is new?

    ReplyDelete
  39. @ Al: They are producing Detroit-Phoenix themselves. But the fact they do not go to Philly-NJ at all is mystifying, especially seeing as this has been a really intense hockey game.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Martin Brodeur: professional juggler.

    ReplyDelete
  41. I had no idea they brought back the Arena Football League.

Commentators for this game are Fran Charles and.......Charles Davis.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Versteeg slashes Frandson's stick and Frandson is penalized. /NHL Refs'd

    ReplyDelete
  43. @JFein I like the live look-ins at other games but wished they would go to ALL the games.

    ReplyDelete
  44. This has been an interesting game thus far in Newark.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Rinne is playing out of his mind for Nashville. Too bad the offense in front of him sucks.

    ReplyDelete
  46. @ SSR: Yep. Arena Football is dead after all.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Why isn't this series on national TV?

    ReplyDelete
  48. @JFein It's in the Eastern Time Zone and on the same nights as Sens/Pens. I know it was a rhetorical question.

At least you can watch it, I tried to find a stream and downloaded another virus. Ugh.

    ReplyDelete
  49. That was inevitable. 4-3 Devils.

    ReplyDelete
  50. NATS WIN 5-3!!!! 2 IN A ROW!!!!!

    .500 record, 5-5.

Who knew I would be more excited about them compared to the Caps?!

    ReplyDelete
  51. I hate Scott Hartnell with a burning passion.

    ReplyDelete
  52. I guess Versus doesn't have cut in to the Flyers game now. /Cheap shot'd

    ReplyDelete
  53. I will take 1-1 going back to Philly, though. It should be every road team's goal in a 7-game series like this to take 1 of the 1st 2 games on the road and the Flyers did accomplish that.

That being said, this game was winnable and it would have been really awesome if we would have won it, especially seeing as now there is a Game 5 and that is on the same day as the 1st round of the NFL draft.

    ReplyDelete
  54. @ Al: You can almost always find something good on atdhe.net.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Sullivan hits a rocket off the crossbar and out. Dumont dumps one off the post and in. Go figure.

    ReplyDelete
  56. @JFein That's where I went. I found "Security Tool" virus twice now, last year and this year.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Apparently TSN is showing DET/PHX w/ Versus announcers.

Versus is in turn televising NSH/CHI (on TSN2) w/ CSN-Chicago announcers.

    This makes perfect sense.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Coyotes are winning 1-0 in the 1st, so at least there is still some hope to this day.

    ReplyDelete
  59. @ Al: Really? I've never had a problem with atdhe....

    ReplyDelete
  60. Sullivan is making Hendry look silly.

Dumont scores on Erat's rebound! 2-1 Preds!

    ReplyDelete
  61. Okay I'm convinced. The Hockey Gods hate the Sharks. The Avs scored another goal off of a weird bounce off of a Sharks player.

    ReplyDelete
  62. @JFein I always have trouble with ATDHE or Justin.TV, UStream worked fine. Why didn't I use that?!

    ReplyDelete
  63. It was all Nashville early in the period but now Chicago is putting on the pressure.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Wilsoon should've shot the puck instead of passing to Erat. CHI empty net.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Smithson with the empty-netter!

First playoff road win Preds franchise history!

    ReplyDelete
  66. Erat scores another empty-netter, 4-1 Preds.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Congrats to the Preds for their first playoff road playoff win ever, 3-1 over the Blackhawks.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Avs 1 Sharks 0, 1st period. Sharks doing their usual April disappearing act.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Zetterberg ties it on the power play.

    ReplyDelete
  70. 1-1 at the end of 1 between Sharks and Avs.

The Sharks have been way more aggressive in this game so far. Taking more shots. Colorado scored their one goal on a fluke deflection.

    ReplyDelete
  71. Datsyuk jams it in! 2-2 tie! Great pass from Franzen.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Matthew Lombardi, 3-2 Yotes! This is insane. Great offense and bad defense in this game.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Filppula, 3-3. "They're gobbling this 200 feet of ice." -Razor

    ReplyDelete
  74. "They're gobbling up this 200 feet of ice." -Razor (Fixed)

    Bryz robs the Wings.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Refs are calling nothing, 2 big scrums at either end of the ice.

    ReplyDelete
  76. "It's been fascinating and intoxicating." -Razor on the game's pace.

    ReplyDelete
  77. This Sharks-Avs game is thoroughly entertaining.

    ReplyDelete
  78. How unlucky I am that my computer crashing has caused me to miss all the exciting action?

    ReplyDelete
  79. You know, everyone blames Thornton or Marleau for playoff failures, but as I've always said Nabokov needs more blame.

He's the one who routinely chokes in the playoffs.

    ReplyDelete
  80. Nabokov is only a .500 goalie in the playoffs, IIRC

    ReplyDelete
  81. I love Scott Nichol. The dude works hard every time he's on the ice. He deserved that goal.

@KT: I believe your right. Somehow though Nabby skips on blame when the Sharks flame out. He's a free agent after this season, I hope they don't bring him back.

    ReplyDelete
  82. 4-4 in Phonix after the Wings and Yotes exchange goals while I take a break.

    ReplyDelete
  83. Coyotes on the PP. Babcock is a whole lot more positive than I would be if I was the Wings coach.

    I would go Brucce Boudreau.

    ReplyDelete
  84. Wings kill the penalty, that's why I'm not their head coach. If I was coaching, we would give up a goal in 10 seconds.

    ReplyDelete
  85. Zetterberg! 5-4 Wings. And there appear to be more Red Wings fans in Phoenix tonight than in game 1.

    ReplyDelete
  86. 5-4 Wings. Nothing is going right for me tonight.

    ReplyDelete
  87. right now, i'm incredibly tempted to put my fan loyalty for 2010 up for bid on EBay...

    ReplyDelete
  88. The Wings can put this game away right here

    ReplyDelete
  89. Flippula's Power Play Goal seals it for the Wings

    ReplyDelete
  90. Fiddler fell down awkwardly, the back of his head hit the boards.

6-4 Red Wings now. Filppula with his second goal through Bertuzzi's screen.

    ReplyDelete
  91. Zetterberg the hat trick.

    This is not good folks...unbelievable. /Duane Kuiper'd

    ReplyDelete
  92. Hats on the ice in Glendale, for Zetterberg. If I saw someone doing that at a Caps game, I'd let them know about it.

    ReplyDelete
  93. No goal Sharks, goalie interference.

    ReplyDelete
  94. That's a good call on the goalie interference, IMO

    ReplyDelete
  95. Good call in my opinion. Setoguchi went in on his own.

    ReplyDelete
  96. can the Sharks blow yet another one?

    ReplyDelete
  97. Blake interferes with Galiardi. Sharks TV crew doesn't even argue, it was that blatant.

    ReplyDelete
  98. This has been a craptastic Avs power play

    ReplyDelete
  99. now we wait for the inevitable Sharks power play...

    ReplyDelete
  100. Slashing by Yip. @kt1000 Do you want to pick the lotto?

    ReplyDelete
  101. and here it is w/ just over 4 to play

    ReplyDelete
  102. @Al only if Lotto ever becomes as predictable as NHL playoff officiating

    ReplyDelete
  103. They need to get the puck through and on-target.

Malhotra does and Anderson stones him.

    ReplyDelete
  104. @kt1000 So why didn't Montreal get a make-up call after Gionta (?) was tripped last night?

Sorry for bringing it up. Wait, I'm apologizing to myself.

    ReplyDelete
  105. I did not think it was possible to find an NHL team hated more by the refs than the Flyers (and in the mind of Red Wing fans: the Red Wings), but then I saw this Sharks playoff game.

    ReplyDelete
  106. How do you outshot your opponent 45-18 and trail by a goal? Your goalie sucks? Sorry, Keith.

    ReplyDelete
  107. It's rare that I will quote a Devils fan for accurate analysis of a hockey game, but Steve Lepore on Twitter hit the nail right on the head in this game: "Anderson is goaltending, Nabakov is standing in front of a net."

How else do you explain the Sharks outshooting the Avs 43-17 yet be losing 5-4?

    ReplyDelete
  108. SCORE!!!!!!!!!! PAVELSKI!!!!!! THEY CAN'T TAKE THAT BACK!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  109. HOLY SHIT PAVELSKI!!!!!!!!!! WITH 31.3 SECONDS LEFT!!!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  110. and i was hoping to get some sleep..i have a 8 am tee time

    ReplyDelete
  111. Now watch. Nabokov will give up a goal a minute into OT. It's been that kind of night and it wouldn't surprise me at all.

    ReplyDelete
  112. @kt1000 I have a 9:30 (must) and 9:00 (preferred) crew arrival time for a TV taping at the local county cable TV station.

    Thank you NHL.

    ReplyDelete
  113. If this goes more than 5 minutes, it's a shock.

    ReplyDelete
  114. This game is either going to be over in 10 minutes or we are going to 3 OTs. Am I the only one that gets that feeling?

    ReplyDelete
  115. Gailardi knocked down by Blake! Great save Anderson!

    ReplyDelete
  116. @JFein i think I'm with you on that

    ReplyDelete
  117. OH WOW...SHARKS TO THE POWER PLAY

    ReplyDelete
  118. THEY SCORE! SETOGUCHI! SHARKS WIN! I CAN GO TO SLEEP!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  119. I'm not sticking around for Hockey Central at 10:42 PM let alone at 1:42 AM in Maryland.
