I would like to amend my comments on the Sellers fumble. ESPN has been replaying highlights all morning of the Deadskins loss.
It looks like the ball was coming out right before Sellers' elbow hit the ground. It is very close but not an absolute "no fumble".
Of course, Sellers doesn't fumble if Suisham hits a freaking 23-yard FG or if Kareem Moore doesn't fumble an interception to Robert Meachem for a TD return or if we don't let Meachem catch a 55-yard tying TD pass w/ a minute left.
This team sucks, lose the rest of the games to finish 3-13 please! Can you do that?!
@ Al: That was my impression of it from watching the stream, but I did not want to say anything as the quality of my stream was not that great, but it certainly was very close, and watching the replay of it, I can sort of see how the ball was starting to come out. Regardless, a very tough break for your Deadskins regardless of the call, and if you want to blame someone, none of this happens if Suisham does not miss a 23-yard FG.
Hey, if you go 3-13, you might actually be able to draft one of the 835 QBs declaring for the draft this year. My guess: Snyder drafts Tebow with the 5th overall pick. Admit it, that is something that Snyder would do, right? ;-)
Snyder would draft Tebow even if it's the wrong move. I was listening to 106.7 WJFK this morning and their Skins reporter Chris Russell said there is major friction between Snyder and Vinny Cerrato.
A NFL team source told Russell that Vinny is laughed by other personnel directors and GMs. The unnamed front-office guy said Vinny couldn't run a minor league baseball team! He also said Vinny is blaming Dan for his bad decisions.
The callers to JFK were mostly pro-Zorn today saying the team is playing hard for him. They're at-least trying even if they're bad. Also, some callers were complaining about the fumble but the two shows I listen to were indifferent about it.
Deadskins absolutely deserved that loss yesterday because of Suisham mainly, Landry, Moore, Greg Blache's asinine prevent defense, the Bingo-callers conservative play-calling at the goalline and Sellers among others.
@ Al: As uncharacteristic as it is for me to feel bad for Jim Zorn, I do feel bad for him in this instance. He certainly is not the best coach in the world, but you can hardly blame that loss on him, especially when you have people like Suisham to blame and that team has played hard in 3 straight weeks. Think about this, Al, if the Redskins don't have 3 straight 4th quarter choke jobs, they are 6-6 in the NFC and that's square in the middle of the playoff race.
The Skins just can't finish games off. It's amazing, really.
