Tomorrow Is A Big Day For World Cup Qualifying

And boy do I mean big. Tomorrow, June 6, 2009, all 5 confederations that have not crowned a champion yet will see major action and lots of big matchups with lots of stakes including a possible World Cup bid for a few times. I'll re-post my sidebar link tomorrow to the front of the page with the updated results once all the games have concluded. So here are your list of matchups and underneath is the scenario for which certain nations can qualify for South Africa 2010.

AFC
Qatar vs. Australia
Uzbekistan vs. Japan
Korea DPR vs. Iran
United Arab Emirates vs. Korea Republic

CAF
Cameroon vs. Morocco
Gabon vs. Togo
Tunisia vs. Mozambique
Zambia vs. Rwanda
Malawi vs. Burkina Faso
Guinea vs. Cote d'Ivoire

CONCACAF
Trinidad and Tobago vs. Costa Rica
El Salvador vs. Mexico
USA vs. Honduras

CONMEBOL
Argentina vs. Colombia
Bolivia vs. Venezuela
Paraguay vs. Chile
Peru vs. Ecuador
Uruguay vs. Brazil

UEFA
Sweden vs. Denmark
Albania vs. Portugal
Slovakia vs. San Marino
Finland vs. Liechtenstein
Azerbaijan vs. Wales
Croatia vs. Ukraine
Belarus vs. Andorra
Kazakhstan vs. England
Lithuania vs. Romania
Serbia vs. Austria
Cyprus vs. Montenegro
Bulgaria vs. Republic of Ireland
FYR Macedonia vs. Norway
Iceland vs. Netherlands

And now here are your scenarios for qualification:

Australia will be in the World Cup with a win or a draw.

Japan will be in the World Cup with a win.

And while other teams can guarantee themselves a playoff at best, only Australia and Japan have a chance to guarantee the World Cup. And unless there is an upset tomorrow, both Australia and Japan have easy enough match ups where advancing to the World Cup tomorrow should not be a problem for either of them.

Update: Apparently I had overlooked South Korea in that mix of teams that can qualify today. And The Netherlands. Curse Wiki and my odd-thinking that no one in UEFA had played enough games to be able to clinch....
