Group C: Finland vs. Belarus 3:00 (MSNBC - Mike Emrick and Eddie Olczyk)
Group C: Sweden vs. Germany 7:30 (CNBC - Mike Emrick and Eddie Olczyk)
Group B: Czech Republic vs. Slovakia 12:00 AM (CNBC - Kenny Albert and Joe Micheletti)
Who's ready for more hockey fun?
Thank you NBC for once again putting the most interesting game in the late night time slot.
ReplyDeleteI love how there was no mention of Belarus throughout that whole intro by Bill Patrick.
ReplyDeleteThe last time Belarus played a Scandinavian team in the Olympics Sweden was cursing the name of Tommy Salo afterward.
An early Finland power play.
ReplyDeleteIs it sad that I remember Andre Mezin as the Belarus goalie in that great upset of Sweden?
And wasn't Salei on that team as well? I recognize a few of these names.
Jokinen. 1-0 Finns. The route is on.
Oh wait? Andre Mezin is not starting this game. It's a KHL goalie named Koval.
ReplyDeleteMezin is on the Belarus roster though.....
Hagman. 2-0 Finland.
ReplyDeleteBelarus hung tough at 1-0 for awhile, but Finland just opened the game up even more with that PP goal.
Shots on goal:
ReplyDeleteFinland 15
Belarus 1
i'm really not bothering with any of these games. i'm getting ready for the Maryland game tonight!
ReplyDelete/homer'd
Twerps!
ReplyDeleteWho are they playing tonight?
Wow NBC. Way to miss the opening faceoff to start the 2nd.
OH MY! BELARUS SCORES! THEY'RE WITHIN 1!
Belarus scores off the Finland turnover
ReplyDeleteNC State
ReplyDeleteshould I spoil the winner of the women's downhill? ;-)
Go ahead if you want to. I'm not watching it now.
ReplyDeletewell, let's just say NBC is very happy with the result
ReplyDeleteenjoy the hockey
Go Terps!
This Belarus PP is playing out more like a Finland PP.
ReplyDeleteAnother Belarus PP.
ReplyDeleteDon't say they never had a chance to repeat their Miracle in Salt Lake City.
Nice moves! Hagman notches another one. 3-1 Finland.
ReplyDeleteComing up now on the MSNBC Intermission Report: Chris Matthews interviews Senator Arlen Spector about Sidney Crosby.

ReplyDelete4-1 Finland.
ReplyDelete@ Deleted BDJ comment: Thanks for that awful image. Your open threads are of no interest of mine.
I see NBC has a blog of some sort for these olympics.
ReplyDeleteI am sure that they've already spoiled the result of this game that has not ended.

ReplyDeleteCome on Belarus so that Latvia can look better!
ReplyDeleteOh BDJ....
ReplyDeleteLasse Kukkonen just got an assist? Amazing.
ReplyDeleteWhomever is doing the commentary on this ski race just became completely unintelligible. It was hilarious.
ReplyDeleteHow come I always miss the good trolls?
Finland wins 5-1.
ReplyDeleteI have class from 6 to 7:15 and a meeting at 7:30 so I'll miss the first part of the Sweden-Germany game.
At the same token though, calling that a game might be a bit of an oxymoron.
the US curlers are incompetent. where's Steinbrenner to fire them all when you need him?
ReplyDeleteI have a meeting....let me know how NBC fucks the transition up this time.
ReplyDeleteSo glad to NBC is treating it's loyal hockey fans to hockey! Puts a smile on my face every time.
ReplyDelete/Sarcasm
Let's see......we only missed the first 9 minutes of the game! Thanks NBC!
ReplyDeleteNo score, by the way.
The game is on MSNBC now if anyone is here.
ReplyDelete@ kt: It was just "Big Dick Johnson" who came and bragged about his "open threads".
ReplyDeleteNBC STRIKES AGAIN!
ReplyDeleteCurling went long, so after waiting for a women's hockey blowout to be over to air Sweden-Germany, MSNBC finally took it up 9 minutes win and once again at 7:57, they went to commercial telling us to switch to CNBC while CNBC was still at commercial.
Oh my. Curling is not over yet.
THE CURLING IS GOING TO AN 11TH END AND MSNBC HAS SWITCHED FROM THE HOCKEY GAME TO COUNTDOWN WITH KEITH OLBERMANN'S VERY FRAGILE EGO!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteWHERE IN THE CONTRACT DOES IT SAY THEY CAN'T PREEMPT HIS SHOW FOR OLYMPIC HOCKEY!!! WHERE? WHERE? PLEASE TELL ME WHERE!!
TWICE THEY CONVENIENTLY LEAVE AT 7:57??????????
ARE PEOPLE NOT COMMUNICATING FROM CNBC TO MSNBC THAT THEY NEED TO STAY WITH HOCKEY? REALLY???? NO ONE HAS CELL PHONES OR BLACKBERRIES OR ANYTHING THAT FELLOW PRODUCERS CAN ALERT EACH OTHER TO THE HAPPENINGS OF THE OTHER EVENT???????????
ReplyDeleteMisses
ReplyDeleteSports
Nothing
But
Crap
Scoreless after 1, by the way.
ReplyDeleteListening to an interview with a guy who compared the Flyers to Nazis is currently providing me with more entertainment than NBC's current Olympic coverage.
ReplyDeleteI might have that interview up later tonight?
CNBC is finally showing hockey!
ReplyDeleteGermany with a real good looking PP against the Swedes.
ReplyDeleteWOOHOO!!!!! I GOT ON BROAD STREET RADIO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteSweden finally scored. Ohlund.
ReplyDeleteI'm shocked that Germany is only down by 1 halfway through this game. True it's 1-0, but still, I would have thought for sure Sweden would have gotten 1 or 2 more against Greiss at this point.
ReplyDeleteSweden’s looked quite stagnant, actually. Germany is not just barely hanging in there.
ReplyDeleteI think I just jinxed Germany. 2-0 Sweden in the 2nd.
ReplyDeleteIt's funny to us Sharks fans when other people are amazed at how big Douglas Murray is.
ReplyDeleteBTW, Thomas Greiss (another Shark) has caught some serious bad breaks on those two goals in this game. I'm happy to see him playing well, but the Swedes are just too much.
Germany really does not have much business being in this game, but oddly enough, they are.
ReplyDelete@ 49er16: There was some interference on the first goal.
ReplyDeleteRandom story that I just heard. People that my mom works with have been Flyers season ticket holders for a long time. Bobby Ryan (isn't he your favorite Duck, Keith?) used to sit 5 rows behind them at Flyers games.
I thought that was kind of cool and thought I'd share it.
Why couldn't Sweden have run up the score on the Germans? The Latvians need other teams to get romped, not play close games because Sweden needs interference and other events of happenstance in for them to draw the best possible opponent in the knockout round.
ReplyDeleteBah. Sweden wins 2-0.
ReplyDeleteLATVIA NEEDS MORE, DANG IT!
Battle of Czechoslovakia coming up later tonight. Once again the late night slot houses the best game.
@JFein: I love the last Hockey game of the night because I can lay in bed and watch it. ;-)
ReplyDeleteLast night was a blast for me, watching Team Latvia.
ReplyDeleteAnd this game might actually be a good game as well.
....To clarify that it ain't Keith that is responsible for the MSNBC fiasco. Here you go.

/threadjack
ReplyDeletethe Terps are shitting the bed against NC State
/end threadjack
the Terps have regained the lead after being 12 down in the 2nd half!
ReplyDelete17-5 run has the Terps up 6
ReplyDeleteWell that took much longer than I ever thought it would but I was finally able to download the BSH podcast on my computer and post it here.
ReplyDeleteOlbermann responded to Deadspin.......I am honestly stunned.
ReplyDeleteIf not Olbermann than someone is in hot water because it happened again today to a much worse extent. It must have been 15 minutes of Countdown on MSNBC while curling was still airing on CNBC and the middle of a scoreless hockey team was nowhere to be seen over the air.
I have no evidence otherwise so I will give Olbermann the benefit of the doubt here that he is free of any wrongdoing against hockey fans, but am I the only one slightly amused that he says "olympics always ends on MS at 8 pm est" and then goes on to say "MSNBC is scheduled to carry the Women's Hockey Final, live, until at least 9 PM ET"?
Terps win. I hope Sidney Lowe enjoys being an NBA assistant next season.
ReplyDelete@JFein a comment I liked from Deadspin:
tim_lincecum_dumpster
04:42 PM
My favorite part of the e-mail is that he doesn't capitalize at the beginning of sentences, nor does he capitalize "Canada" or "Norway," but he damn sure will capitalize "American" and "Countdown."
+1 tim_lincecum_dumpster.
ReplyDeleteIs anyone else staying up for The Battle of Czechoslovakia?
@JFein i'm going to watch a little. mainly because i want Jaromir Jagr toget popped. and sorry for all the threadjacking.
ReplyDeletefirst, 6:00 of women's hockey to enjoy!
ReplyDelete0-0 5 minutes in
ReplyDeleteAnother NBC delay but the game is underway on CNBC!
ReplyDeleteis Ziggy Palffy still the poor man's Jagr?

ReplyDeleteElias! 1-0 Czechs!
ReplyDeleteDeflection and a goal! 1-0 Czech Republic
ReplyDeletePeter Bondra is the GM of the Slovaks? That makes me want to root for them even more.
ReplyDeleteFor the sake of Latvia, I now want to see a big Czech Republic blowout.
ReplyDeleteAfter all, they are the real modern-day Czechoslovakia. I mean, they took the Czechoslovakian flag and the Czechoslovakian capital.
and the Czechs have a power play
ReplyDeleteHow does Zdeno Chara go down like that?
ReplyDeleteSlovakaia with a chance to even this before the intermission
ReplyDeleteend of 1
ReplyDeleteand i'll talk to everyone during the USA game tomorrow.
CR is up 1-0 after 1.
ReplyDeleteLater, kt!
ReplyDeleteGaborik! We have our first non 0-0 tie in men's ice hockey these Olympics!
ReplyDeleteAh college...the only place where it is socially acceptable for a girl to be hanging with a guy in the men's room as he is doing his hair.
ReplyDeleteLol Slovakia raising their sticks for thinking they scored when they didn’t.
ReplyDeleteJust an FYI, I do plan on live blogging all of the knockout round games once we get there.
ReplyDeleteI just got word of something else on Tuesday though that will likely have me breaking out the GuJo Certified CAPS for reasons unrelated to hockey.
The only game I might miss is the bronze medal game because I am in DC. But even then, it's a 10 PM ET game, so I might be back...

ReplyDeleteHossa denied by Vokoun!
ReplyDeleteJAGR TAKES IT THE OTHER WAY! 2-1 Czech Republic!
PLEKANEC SCORES WITH 2 SECONDS LEFT IN THE 2ND! WOW! 3-1 Czech Republic.
ReplyDeleteFunny tweet from Wysh: Slovakia has to play Russia 24 hours from now. Poor bastards.
ReplyDeleteI don't feel too bad for them. The more they get fed to the wolves, the better it will be for Latvia.
If all Slovakian stick raises equate to a goal, this game is tied at 3.
