So Apparently I'm A Nazi Fan

And you thought T.J. Simers' slander of the Phillies and Phillie fans were bad. Compared to the vitriol that Mike Boone of the Montreal Gazette wrote Saturday concerning the Flyers, Simers was extolling every great virtue this city has ever stood for.

Because frankly, in comparison to Mike Boone, Simers was lavishing the city with wonderful compliments of how nice we were.

Frankly, there's no way I can effectively set this up, so I'll just paste this quote, and well, all I will tell you is that this was published by a Montreal Gazette writer.

There's not a franchise in sports I hate more than the Philadlphia Flyers.

Not the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Not the New York Yankees.

Not the Dallas Cowboys or L.A. Lakers.

No, you'd have to have an Olympic Games flashback to 1936 and watch the pride of Hitler's Germany marching into the Berlin stadium to match the feeling of revulsion I experience every time I see the Flyers play.

Especially against the Canadiens.
You know? If you're going to call our team Nazis, could you at least do us the courtesy of spelling the name of our city right? THANK YOU!

Seriously. What a classless douche bag.

The only credit I will give him is that he will be appearing on Travis Hughes' Broad Street Radio podcast for the Flyers SB Nation blog Broad Street Hockey. Believe me, I'll be listening to that one.

Seriously. He equated the Flyers to Nazis. Our aggressive style of hockey is now apparently equitable to genocide of 6 millions Jews and starting the 2nd World War!

WE'RE NAZIS!

LET'S GO NAZIS! *CLAPCLAP CLAPCLAPCLAP*

As I type this post up, the Nazis lead the Habs 1-0 thanks to a goal by Danny Briere Erwin Rommel.

The Captain of the Flyers Mike Richards The leader of the Nazis Adolf Hitler has scored to give them a 2-0 lead over the Canadiens.

If the Flyers really are like Nazis, then this first period has been a blitzkrieg thus far.

  1. Ed Snider will demand an apology from that douchenozzle.

  2. Shouldn't Snider apologize to Jarome Iginla first for constantly referring to him as "Inigla?"

    Reading comprehension FAIL.

He isn't saying you ARE Nazis, he's saying he feels the same amount of revulsion for you as he feels for the Nazis. Not a lot better, but before you get your feelings all hurt about being called Nazis perhaps you can read what he actually said again.

  4. @ Anon 2:54: Don't read much into it. JC demands someone apologize anytime someone says the slightest thing out of line. Ed has not asked for an apology, nor do I ever expect him to. Why would he even think about paying attention to a story first brought up by Philadelphia online and social media?

@ Anon 4:16: Come on! I was only trying to have a little fun with it!

Sure he only said that we revolt him "the pride of Hitler's Germany" but come on, if you can't have fun over something a complete idiot said then what can you have fun with?

  5. Yeah i have to agree with Anon 2:54...this guy is talking about this revulsion. Blogs like this might seem harmless, but guess what, it was linked onto Greg's sports blog on Yahoo and stuff like this gets people fired. Still funny?

Yeah that writer shouldn't have written that, he should be a bit smarter.

  6. Considering the paper that he works for, that's a tall order. I'd bet money that he got his gig not because of being qualified for the job (although at least his English isn't broken), but because the writer of that calptrap could speak French/had a French sounding last name. The joys of job hunting in Montreal.

And having the same revolution for a hockey team on the same level as one of the most evil organizations to grace this planet is just total perspective FAIL. The guy needs to either tune into reality a bit, or step away from the game for a while and find out what is really important.

Yeah, MIKE BOONE, english sports WRITER for an english newspaper targetting english montrealers "probably" got the job beacause he can "maybe" speak french. Goddamn racists like you piss me off. You can't wait to turn any issue, no matter its stupidy, into a game of "blame the frenchies".

  8. Dang, people, relax! It was just the usual sports blog hyperbole! And, yes, he was commenting on his reaction to the Flyers, not on the Flyers themselves....Say it again: "Hyperbole".

  9. Flyers suck anyway, Hartnell looks like Ronald Mcdonald and Carter is supposedly moving with them sometime soon?

  10. Fuck Travis Hughes!

That nazi is a complete disgrace to flyer fans everywhere with his constant whining and complaining everytime our boys screw up! Hughes deserves to be tared and feathered for his ignorance!

And for that matter, so should Geoff Deitweller!
