Lack Of Posting

Apologies for the lack of posting over the past month. Between vacation, work, volunteering, and swimming, I have not had a lot of time to put together numerous well thought out posts. And with my final semester of courses coming up before I student teach, I am not sure if things will be getting any better in the near future. I have plans in my personal life that will hopefully cross paths with my internet profile, but the odds of it actually happening are somewhere in the one-in-a-million range. Even if it does happen, the first you will ever hear about it would be over a year from now. As far as what it is, I will elect not to say anything now, because if it does happen, the surprise would be totally worth it. At least for some people. I think.

As I am sure you have noticed, my posts have evolved from news and video posts to more commentary and analysis posts over the years. While I still put up the occasional video, the news posts have become less and less, perhaps in large part because it is easier for me to RT something on Twitter then copy and paste blockquotes while surrounding said quotes with paragraph(s) of commentary. It is also easier to give a nugget or two on Twitter while I am busy with school work than it is to write a whole blog post. I will still try to donate time to this, I just do not know how much time I will have. What I can promise you though is I will still be around on Twitter and I will be around for live blogs of the NFL Season and MLB Playoffs and the fantasy football season. And that's all that matters, right? ;-)

What To Look For In The Coming Weeks And Months

I guess I really should have done this at the start of the new year, but downtime on a Tuesday night I guess is not bad either. So here is a rundown of some of the things that you can expect in the upcoming weeks and months or so.
  • Updating the Schedules: After a 2.5-month hiatus from doing so, I have returned to updating the schedules on the sidebar with the results of Flyers games and Villanova games. I know how much you all missed those....
  • The return of the March Madness Live Blogs: I don't know about everyone else, but after all the fun and laughs we had last year, there isn't anyway that we are not returning with the March Madness live blogs. 10 minutes before Scottie Reynolds hit Villanova's game-winning shot in the elite 8 against Pitt, I nearly died of laughter. Thanks RJBO. The conference tournament live blogs will be on a TBD basis, but you can definitely expect a lot of March Madness fun.
  • The return of the NHL and NBA Playoffs open threads and live blogs: Don't expect too much in the live blog department until we get really deep into the playoffs (or if there is a big Game 7 of some sort), but I will have open threads up for the NHL and NBA postseason, although to make things easier, I will probably just have one post per day for both the NHL and NBA instead of a post for each sport each day.
  • The High School Years: Over the summer last year, Basketbawful ran what turned out to be a very popular multi-part story detailing his freshmen year in college and some of the drama around his personal life. Well, inspired by that will come my little story of my last two years in high school and then some. Like his, it will be a multi-part story and I am thinking of getting the publication of that started in the next week or 2 as there will be some downtime after the conference championships and before the Super Bowl. It will certainly be something different around these parts and is something that I look forward to getting up as I already have the first couple parts written and ready to go. It's just a matter of picking the perfect time to publish them. I must warn you though, if you are not a fan of awkward humor, then you might want to stay away from it. ;-)
  • 2010 World Cup Previews: The final main thing that will be coming up this summer is the 2010 FIFA World Cup, and while I can sit here and type up matchup previews and what not, let's face it, I do not follow soccer regularly or closely enough to give you an adequate breakdown of each team and each match, so instead, I will put my history major to good use and will give you a historic, geographic, and cultural breakdown of each of the South African cities hosting World Cup venues. Yes, I am aware that some cities will be a lot more exciting and interesting than others, that comes with the territory, but regardless, I look forward to diving deep into that pool of information and sharing my new found knowledge with you.
Well that's that. Thank you for your continued patronage and hopefully you have as much fun reading this stuff as I do writing it.

MY INTERNET'S BACK!!!

Great news, folks! As of right now, my internet is back up and running. W00T! W00T!

With that being said, though, I've got a $1000 political fundraiser (the tickets literally fell into my lap yesterday), a geography test to study for, and a shitload of sleep to catch up on tonight, so chances are this is the last you'll hear of me today (I wasn't lying or exaggerating when I said I had 10,000 extra-curricular committments today).

Internet is back (for now, at least, you really do never know with these people); that's the news of the day and I'll have my picks among other things for you tomorrow.

Peace!

It Gives Me No Pleasure In Telling You Guys This....

....but the internet in all of the dorms across Bloomsburg University is down. The internet was lost at around 1 in the morning last night and has been down ever since. Right now, I have found a working lab with the internet, however, until the problem has been fixed, I don't know what to tell you other than I obviously won't be live blogging anything as there is no TV in the lab and I don't get internet on my cell phone. Now the problem could be fixed in a couple hours, or in a week. If you think that the latter option sounds utterly crazy, last year in September the internet was down for a week, so it's a good possibility that by no fault of my own, I won't be around next week for the Pammies, 49er16's open thread, and the live blog. They claim that they are working on the problem, but I just talked to my CA (most of you know them better as RAs), and he said that that is code for "oh shit, we have a massive problem".

All I know I have told you above and while I might be able to get on these university computers once or twice a day (tomorrow I have about 10,000 committments so I probably won't be doing much blogging until late at night at best regardless of internet or not). Until then, and knowing the people that we are dealing with, I would assume the worst and hope for the best. I'd like to say I will be around this weekend, but if my CA is even remotely close to the size of the problem, then the answer is most likely a whopping hell no as to whether I'll be live blogging this weekend.

Thanks for your continued patronage and I'll have a post up when all is well in the dorms. Until then, enjoy this video of a (most likely) drunk fan climbing the goal posts at a CFL game (hat tip to kt1000).

Commenting Guidelines

With the recent influx of hits that I have been getting (the hits for this blog have totaled over 200 respectively for a couple of days this week, a number I could not imagine having when I started this blog and a number I never thought I'd get when I started tracking hits per day in June) I guess it's time to lay down some commenting guidelines. Besides, as mentioned below, I'm completely bored right now with nothing to do and this gives me somthing to do.

In general, I'm pretty laid back when it comes to commenting and that's not going to change, however, I would like to make it clear what is and what is not acceptable.

1. I am one of the few blogs, I believe, that still allow annonymous commenting. And I plan on keeping it this way as it allows those that want to protect any and all identity to do so and still have their opinions heard.

2. I bring that up, because the majority of anonymous comments I get are in my "RIP" posts in which they mock the dead. Any post that mocks and/or makes fun of a recently departed person will be deleted on the spot. I have always done so, but I want it spelled out. The comment section of the eulogies on my blog are not the time or the place to make fun of recently dead people, no matter how controversial they are or how much you hate them. Take those elsewhere, please.

3. I do not mind if you disagree with anything that I say, but keep your disagreements knowledgeable and make sense in doing so. I am not a complete idiot who knows nothing just because you disagree with my opinions. I will respect your views if you respect mine. I do not mind debating, au contraire, I encourage it, but let's keep any and all debate civil and about the subject on hand and not an insult fest.

4. I do not mind cursing at all, however there are some words that I would prefer not to see on this blog. In other words, DON'T USE THEM AT ALL! These words include

The R-word used to refer to those that are intellectually disabled. Sadly, this word is used way too much in everyday language and no one even stops to think twice as to what it actually means. I'm an education major and even though my life has not been directly impacted by mental retardation in the form of family and friends, I take this matter very seriously and I take great offense to any use of the word other than it's original intended purpose, as used earlier in this sentence. Even then, I'd prefer "intellectually disabled".

The N-word. 'Nuff said.

The F-word used in reference of homosexuals. You can say "fuck" all you want and I won't give a fuck, but type the f-word that is a synonym for "gay" and "homosexual", and I won't be happy.

Any other derogatory word used to demean someone's race, ethnicity, and sexuality, whether using it in that context or are just using that word as people use the aforementioned R-word is not allowed.

I would be shocked if this needs to be said, but all of the above go for any and all forms of the word, and not just the base word itself.

5. Seeing as I do occasional political and cable news posts, any comparing of any political or cable news personality to Nazi Germany is prohibited. Then again, making such an outlandish, ludicrous comparison only makes yourself to look like a complete, misinformed moron.

6. Any and all spamming is prohibited. I get enough of it in my GMail inbox (I am already a daily recipient of a million British pounds, I don't need anymore, thank you), I don't need it in the comments section of my blog. Also, I am not interested in any of your "business deals". I do this blog as a hobby just for fun. I want nothing more or less out of it. So whether you are a spammer or are indeed serious in your offer (at which point, I laugh at you and your patheticness) the answer is no.

7. As amusing as these can be, telling glorious stories about how your dick fought off a crocidile and how wonderful it is to have cum on your tummy is not allowed. However, do realize that if you're any good at these, you would have gotten me to laugh before your comment goes bye-bye.

8. Any and all links to pornography will at first be checked out in full by yours truly. But seeing as no one can stack up to what I have to offer, I will walk away from your site disappointed and your comment will suffer a fate written out below.

Failure to adhere to any or all of the above will result in immediate deletion of your comment. Yes, even the porn. Thank you for your patronage and continue to enjoy the blog!

A Quick Heads Up And RIP Ted Kennedy

First of all, my apologies for the dearth of posts the past couple of days. This has been a real hectic time for me as this job is definitley much more than what I expected when I first signed onto it last spring. I am hoping that by late tomorrow afternoon, I'll finally have some time to relax, chill, and blog and what not. In a perfect world, I will have a live blog up for tomorrow's Eagles pre-season game to test out how CiL works with football, but BU has their first football game as well and if I decide to get together with a couple friends or what not, the Eagles will just have to wait (I get NFL-N up here so I can catch a reair if I miss it) but I have not forgotten about you guys or Andy Reid. I'm also hopeful that I will get around to typing up the next NFL preview sometime this afternoon.

And lastly a very sad RIP to Ted Kennedy, the last remaining and oldest of the 3 Kennedy brothers. Democrats and liberals have lost a strong and powerful voice today. At least we can all take solace in the fact that he was able to live out his life to the fullest and it was not abruptly ended like JFK and RFK.

It's Moving Day!

Today's the big day! I am moving back to Bloomsburg for the Fall semester of my sophomore year today, August 23, 2009. While I don't start classes to the 31, the job I have on campus requires to get up there this early.

With that being said, I don't have anything I have to do until tomorrow so if I feel like it after a 2-hour drive and unpacking all of my stuff, I might put up a LLWS live blog or 2. The open thread will be up at 11:30 AM ET (1st game starts at noon ET) and depending on what time I finish unpacking and all, I might live blog the game 6:00 Chula Vista, CA-Peabody, MA game and/or the 8:00 Curacao-Japan game (for those that don't know, Curacao and Japan as of recent history have been the 2 best international games).

Let me tell you what, summer goes by so fast....

See You On Tuesday!

I am going on a short trip with some of my extended family members who I have not seen all summer, therefore I will not be around Sunday the 16th or Monday the 17th. Assuming they got my email, 49er16 and/or James Craven will be filling in for the next few days. I should be back sometime early Tuesday afternoon. Thanks for your continued support and I will chat with you again once I get back!

I'M BAAAAACK!!!!!!!

As I'm sure you noticed by my various posting in the past few hours, after surviving my first beer, the worst thunderstorm I have ever been in in my life with rain force and wind speed that would make hurricanes quake with fear, walking on the old Nazi Party rally grounds, and one hellacious day at the airport straight out of a bad comedy movie, I have made it back home. And that hellacious day at the airport was today (or yesterday, at this point, seeing as it's currently July 22 and I'm talking about July 21). Top that with the fact that I have literally been up for 23 hours straight and you can imagine how I'm feeling right now. Regardless, I am back and will have some actual sports related posts up tomorrow.

But first, I would like to greatly thank James Craven and 49er16 for their absolutely tremendous work on my blog over the past week and a half. I must say, you guys were awesome! And while I was unable to find an internet cafe in Germany, I did read all of your posts on this site (I'll catch up on your actual blogs tomorrow, so prepare for a bevy of comments) including the live blogs and once again, great work guys! You did me and this blog proud. Oh, and sadly, I was unable to locate any German porn. ;'-( However, I did legally have beer! Oh, by the way, never try Bitburger Beer in your life.

I brought this up in the 1st paragraph, but I want to elaborate on this a bit. It will be my only sports tidbit until I am fully awake and functional later today. As of now, the largest soccer stadiums in the world (notably Estadio Azteca and the Maracana in Rio de Janeiro) do not and probably cannnot hold 200,000 people. That being said, while being showed around Nuremberg, Germany, as I was standing on Nazi Parade grounds, starring at the exact platform where Adolf Hitler stood and made his speeches, with the Frankenstadion in the background (yes, that is the stadium where the U.S.A. lost 2-1 to Ghana in the 06 World Cup and the Battle of Nuremberg took place; just seeing a World Cup soccer stadium in person was enough to get me excited, not to even mention the historical nature of where I was standing), our tour guide told us perhaps one of the most amazing things I have ever heard about sports. The Nazis had a proposed soccer stadium that would have been in Nuremberg, Germany (which was essentially going to serve as the Mecca of Nazi Germany) which would seat 400,000 people! No typo, no sarcasm, no joke. 400,000 people. And for those that do not believe me, here is a picture of that proposed stadium:

Since returning from the trip, I did do a brief search on this proposed stadium and the story checks out. 400,000 people in a stadium. And while one can make the argument that the upper 200,000 seats in that stadium would be pretty much pointless and serve no other purpose to fans other than to see small looking dots that look like people kicking some black and white speck, one has to admire and gape at what they wanted and had it not been for World War 2, which derailed those plans, probably what would have eventually come to be.

All right, I'm officially out of it. I'll read everyone's blogs tomorrow and will most likely have a post or 2 up about some piece(s) of sports news. Although, I think I might think about moving to Europe permantently.......the Phils did not lose a game while I was away!

Auf Wiedersehen!

As you may have noticed by JamesCraven's post earlier this morning, I will be going away for a bit and him (along with 49er16) will be taking over the reigns of the blog for the next week and a half. I am leaving tomorrow, July 11 and will return sometime during the afternoon of Tuesday, July 21 (although due to unpacking and jetlag, it may not be until the 22nd that I post again). For those that are interested and/or curious I will be in Europe in Germany, Austria, and Hungary, and while it is doubtful that I will find a free internet cafe, if I do, I will try to log on and say, "hi". And seeing as Europe is a place where some countries charge you €.60 to use public restrooms, I am skeptical in my beliefs that I will find a free internet cafe.

Me going away, however, does mean one thing in the sports world. There will be a whole heck of a lot of news, that's for sure. It only makes sense, I mean, the past few weeks, other than the death of a plethora of famous people, there has not been a whole lot of sports news. That only means, that when I am gone, there will be a lot of news (may I suggest looking up Murphy's Law?), especially seeing as there is a lot of news bound to happen such as the Phillies getting a pitcher, most likely Pedro Martinez, and the Vikings signing Brett Favre, among other big things, such as a no-hitter. Seriously, every time I have learned that a pitcher has a no-hitter going, I turn in to MLB Network or ESPN/Fox/TBS if it is a national game and the no-hitter is gone the next inning the pitcher takes the mound (case and point, last night and Tim Lincecum).

But I digress, I'll miss you all greatly and please give 49er16 and JamesCraven the same kindness and patronage that you give to me. I will leave it up to 49er16 and JC if they want to give out their email addresses on this blog or not. FireAndyReidNow@gmail.com is mine and mine alone as is the newly formed Twitter account, so they will be without contact for 10 days.

Again, thanks for all your kindness and patronage, and unless something huge comes up between now and 3:00 PM ET tomorrow (i.e. Phillies-Martinez, Vikings-Favre, etc.), this will be my last post here until I return on July 21 (packing sucks). So seeing as I'll be in Germany for a good part of the trip, and other than leaving you with what has to be the longest goodbye vacation post in Blogger history, it is only fitting that I leave you all with a kind auf wiedersehen!

Update: Why is it that whenever I say "this is my last post until such and such a time" that immediately afterwards big news happens? Jayson Werth has been selected to replace Carlos Beltran in the all-star game (thus making it 5 Phils in the mid-summer classic and every Phils starting outfielder is in it) and Chris Coste is now a Houston Astro.

Last Call To Fill-In......

I sent some of you an email several weeks back asking if you wanted to become a contributor and fill-in for me when I go on vacation. So far 49er16 is the only person that I have heard from, and while I am more than happy to give him a position, I do not want to soley burden him with this blog for 10 days while I'm in Europe. If anyone wants to step up and take some of the load off of his back, that would be truly awesome. I am leaving July 11 and I return July 21, so if anyone is interested and is going to be around, I would greatly appreciate your help!

You can either respond in the comments or email me at FireAndyReidNow@gmail.com. Thanks again for your support!

I Want To Kill YouTube Right About Now

First of all, (this is going to hurt so much....) congrats to the Pittsburgh Penguins for winning the Stanley Cup this year (a part of me just died inside). This normally would be the point where I post the video of Doc Emrick's call and Jim Hughson's call of the thrilling, odd, reverse deja vu finish of Game 7 tonight, but for some bizarre reason, YouTube is not displaying any videos uploaded in the last 12 hours. Which means no Stanley Cup video now (yes, I have frantically searched other sites as well and can't seem to the actual closing moments of the game). Hopefully all is well with YouTube tomorrow and someone has the end of the game up. But I have not forgotten about the game and I will try to have a video up tomorrow morning/early afternoon.

Tonight's Plan...

So here's the plan tonight. As I have previously stated, I will am going out tonight and will not be in. What has changed though is that it will only be for the first part of the night. My best estimate is that I will be back at approximately 10:00. It might be 5 or 10 minutes later and I don't fathom it being much earlier than that. With that being said, I know I said that I will have a live blog for every game of the finals (we'll find a way to navigate Bettman's idiocy when we get there). And that will be the case tonight. Once I am back, I will join in and we will do the live blog. Now what I hope I can do is I can make everyone whose email address I have a producer of this live blog (in case some are not around) with my hope being that producers can re-start up a live blog that is started up and placed on standby mode by me before I leave. My guess is you can, but I'm not entirely sure. If you can't then you can use the thread that I am about to create as an open thread until I get back and we can do the live blog from there, or you can work out a live blog on someone else's site and I can join you there. Talk to you later tonight!

I Finally Did It!!!

As JamesCraven would say, get yer heads out of the gutter. I'm not talking about that! What I am talking about is I finally made a GMail account specifically for this blog. The address is this (get ready for a big surprise):

FireAndyReidNow@gmail.com

Shocking.....I know. If you already have other email address, you can still send me emails there as well. I will try to check both of them as much as possible (i.e. daily). If you have any tips, questions, comments about the blog or anything that you want to say to me, please contact me and I will try to get back to you ASAP.

I Guess I Should Explain To My Loyal Readers The Deal For The Next Few Months

Seeing as I'm sure you have bigger and better things to do than read about what's going on in the life of a faceless blogger you have never personally met, I'll make this as quick and as painless as possible. Basically, for those that do not already know, I am on summer break, which means that I am no longer in Bloomsburg, but rather back home in suburban Philadelphia.

I guess I should explain a couple things about this. There will be days this summer where basically I might sit in front of the computer and blog all day long and there will be others where I may not even be on a computer until 7 PM ET at night (i.e. the days that I work; and that will generally be twice a week). It's unlike college where I can just throw a paper or an assignment aside for a couple hours and do a quick live blog or post some hilarious story that I found or something (believe it or not, blogging from college is easier than blogging from home where I live with my parents).

And also, the internet where I am is not necessarily the greatest. There will be days and times where it works beautifully (like right now) and other days where I just will not be able to get the wireless internet for the life of me, in which case I'll have to use the family computer which is hooked up and there is no TV in the room so I won't be able to do any live blogs on those days (I'll try to alert you if I'm having internet problems on potential live blog days, but it can honestly go out at anytime and stay that way for a day or 2).

So, now that you have read way TMI about me and my life, I have contemplated throwing a picture of me up so that way you can actually see what I look like, but alas, I'll choose to remain faceless (for now, at least).

And one last thing, sometime in July, I will be going on vacation. I will be sending my loyal readers whose e-mail address I have an email once the time gets closer and I've actually memorized the dates and I'll probably have you guys split up the days, seeing as I'm going to be gone for a while and I do not want to burden any of you too much with a second blog and you can expect said email in a month or so.

So I've Taken Up This Little Challenge....

Over at The O Files, JamesCraven put up a challenge to donate $.01 per second to a "charity of Keith [Olbermann]'s choice" if Sean Hannity goes through with his agreement he made to be waterboarded, as seen below, and double if he admits that it is torture.

Olbermann is donating $1,000 to charity per second that Hannity is waterboarded and double if he admits it is torture. JC, as mentioned above, as lowered the standard quite a bit. Now me being the poor, financially inept, skin-flinted college student that I am, I have decided that that would be too much for me. Yes, even $.01 per second, which would most likely equate to $.10....if he ends up admitting it was torture. So I have decided to take up a new, perhaps more interesting challenge. If Sean Hannity goes through with his promise and allows himself to be waterboarded with some documentation other than word of mouth that it happened, I will stop blogging and commenting on all blogs for a week. And if Sean Hannity admits that waterboarding is torture and/or that he feared for his life, I will make it 2 weeks without blogging and commenting on others' blogs.

Hell, you know what, I just thought of this right now. I'll raise the stakes, make this even more funner and challenging for myself. I'll torture myself in my own unique way. I'll stay off the internet, period! 1 week just for doing it with documentation; 2 weeks if he admits that it is torture.

(Note: I am not trivializing waterboarding to say the least. I fully, 100% believe that it is torture. However, other people other than Keith Olbermann have pledged various things if Sean Hannity goes through with it. Now whether we are right or wrong in doing so, that is your call, but I am just letting you know my stance on this.)

The Eagles Are Interested In Who??????

There are a lot of possible receivers that the Eagles could be interested in, but this one just struck me as odd and very un-Eagles like. The wide receiver that the Eagles are showing interest in is Chad "My Last Name Is No Longer Johnson" Ocho Cinco! Seriously. After the T.O. fiasco, the Eagles are interested in this guy! Via The Recliner GM

Michael Smith of ESPN is reporting that Eagles have shown interest in trading for WR Chad Johnson and OT Jason Peters.

Here is what he said:

"I am hearing there is interest in Chad Johnson. Now there’s been some back and forth as to whether or not he is officially on the market. I think everybody in Cincinnati has signed off on moving Chad Johnson except for owner Mike Brown. The Eagles could be in the picture. They have two first-round picks. They need a receiver"

He also said that the Eagles have engaged “in serious discussions” about Peters.
Well then! As far as acquiring Ocho Cinco goes, probably much to your surprise, I'm not sure if I could get all too giddy about that move, especially if it costs them a first round draft pick. He can be a trouble maker and is the master of the unnecessary celebration penalty. It also does not help him that he is getting up their in age. He's 31 and his productivity last year was not that high, although it must be said that Ryan Fitzpatrick, not Carson Palmer, was the starter for most of the year. The Bengals (for reasons that not even I know) are my 3rd favorite team in the NFL and I like Chad Johnson, but I just do not see the fit working here. If they want a dep threat like him, they'll be much more well-served to go after Anquan Boldin.

And just as a little FYI, I am thinking of adding a "song of the day" feature. I know what you're thinking, "what in the blue hell does that have to do with Andy Reid, Eagles, or sports in general?". The answer: it doesn't, but it's a little touch that I think might be nice to add to personalize it a little bit and to put a little more of me into this thing. And I don't always go for current pop. The types of music that will probably show up most often is alternative rock/hard rock/metal from 2000 onward, although, I'll probably stick in a few pop songs, some older songs that I like, and then there is my favorite, the non-single that no one has ever heard of. Some of my favorite songs are songs that were never released on the radio and/or as a single. And the one that I am planning on posting tomorrow is a great example of that. And while I will try to never intentionally repeat songs, chances are I will repeat artists at times, although never back to back, unless the occasion is special.

Tomorrow Is Going To Be Quite The Epic Day For Yours Truly

You know how there is always that one day every once in awhile where you have so much going on that it makes your head spin. Well, tomorrow is going to be that day for me.

I have a speech to give tomorrow at 8 AM for my Public Speaking class. Which means that I will be up until the crack of dawn tonight into tomorrow morning finishing, rehearsing, and perfecting the speech. And then subsequently, I will have to get my arse out of bed at that subsequent crack of dawn. Yay, little sleep for me!

And then I have another class at 11 and then at 2 I have a very important meeting with my academic advisor. As someone who is a double major and knows that he will have to take some very tough and/or time-demanding courses in the future, it is imperative that I schedule smart now so that I am not f-ed up the arse with 3 difficult and time consuming courses all in one semester.

And there is the possibility that our league will be having a wiffleball game at around the hours of 5-7. That will in all likelihood depend on whether or not we play today and how much and that is very much up in the air at this point.

Oh yeah, I nearly forgot, my favorite college basketball team, Villanova, is playing the college basketball that I despise the most, Duke in the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament. The last time I was this jacked for a sporting event was the Eagles' NFC Title game (because I thought they had a real chance of winning) and I do not know if I've ever been this pumped for a basketball game in my life!

And if the plan from last week is still in tact, 49er16, Mookie (SSR), and myself will be doing the live blog again.

Good times coming tomorrow!

Changing Things Up A Bit

If you've visited the site over the past couple hours, you've probably seen some rather funky things and color schemes going on. That's because I've been playing around, trying to find a new scheme that works for FARN! And I think I've finally settled on this one. For one, that Georgia font was driving me insane. And yes, I know I could switch it at any moment, but other fonts did not really look right to me with the scheme I had going. So seeing as I am bored and feeling a bit under the weather today, I figured, what better time than now to rejuvenate this whole thing and give the blog an entirely different look.

I hope you'll take notice to some of the blogs I added to the "Blogs I Follow" section. There's some good content on all of them, so go check them out. And also, my new favorite feature will be the Poll of the Week. At the start of every week, whether it be Sunday or Monday, I will have a poll for you to vote on, either relating to something that happened the past week, something that is planned to happen the upcoming week, or if I can't find any of the above for that's good for a poll, I may just ask you some random question.

If you do not like this color scheme, please do not hesitate to tell me about it in the comments section (I'd give you guys my email, but I don't want 100 emails in my inbox from spammers who may be lurking). And I tried whatever I could to get the box on the outside of my title picture to go away, but I can't seem to find the trick, nor a matching color to the rest of the template (which I can't seem to find a way to change for some reason).

And just as a long-term future heads up, in the summer I am thinking about making a move over to WordPress. Having visited several WordPress blogs, in comparison with the Blogger blogs, everything about WordPress seems like it is better to me and it seems like I can do more with them. I'll test it out over the next few months and look into making an account and such and see how I like it before I decide if I should make the permanent move. Enjoy the new template!

Site Announcement Regarding Tomorrow's Live Blogs

I'm not sure what's going on tomorrow in terms of AA tomorrow, seeing as S2N is not going to be there, but if AA does not show up SSR and myself have set up a back-up plan. If AA does not show up, I will be live blogging the Eagles-Cardinals game here and SSR will be doing the Ravens-Steelers game at his site.

I'm going to try to get in contact with AA so that we have some certainty for tomorrow.

Update: I just sent AA an email asking about the live blog. I had tried to email him earlier but I had a typo in the address and my computer did not kick it back to me until 6-hours later (If I could, I'd kill Comcast). I'll post a second update once I know for sure what's going on, whether SSR and I are splitting the live blogs, or if AA is doing them, or if something else is going on.
