MLB Playoffs Day 14 Open Thread

I would live blog this game if it was not for the fact that I am currently in the school's library working on a project where I need software only available on the university computers. Oh well, this is the small price I pay for staying up last night to watch and celebrate your 2009 NL champion Philadelphia Phillies. And if there is one sentiment about baseball here in Philly other than "WOOT!!! WE'RE NL CHAMPIONS FOR THE 2ND STRAIGHT YEAR!" it's "BRING ON THE YANKEES!!!"

Yankees @ Angels 7:57 (Burnett, 13-9 vs. Lackey, 11-8) (Fox - Joe Buck and Tim McCarver, SR: Chris Myers and Ken Rosenthal)

  1. Fucking Sharks have started the game slowly again. Let the Lightning score on them 30 seconds into the game.

  2. Let's not give the ALCS to the Yankees just yet.........

  3. 4-0 Halos on 4 hits and a walk in 1/3 of an inning. Where was this Tuesday?

  4. Double play ends the inning but the damage has been done.

  5. There's a part of me that wants this series to end right now so that the Phillies-Yankees series can get the build up and the hype that it deserves, but at the same time, want this series to go 7 so that the Phillies can either play the Angels or to force Joe Girardi's hand with CC.

  6. The goal of the night in the NHL is by a Capital, Jeff Schultz!

He lobbed a 160 foot bouncer from his defensive circle to the other end and past Andre Pavelic to make it 3-2 Was.

A rebound goal and another flukey goal thanks to a billiards carrom makes it 5-2.

It's billiards between the Caps and Thrash. I hope to find a video link somewhere.

  7. It's funny how if we have a Phillies-Yankees World Series, that could be one of the highest rated series in quite some time, but if it's Phillies-Angels, it could potentially do worse that than last year.

  8. That's what happens when you only market 4-5 teams, if one of the league champions isn't Dodgers/Cubs/Red Sox/Yanks, the ratings stink. I don't think Tigers-Cards was a great ratings in 2006.

  9. Flyers are tied with the Bruins 3-3 in the second in a preview of the Winter Classic.

  10. Fucking Sharks blew their load again early. Lightning up 3-1

What a shame Keith. Diarrhea has the tendency to overwhelm the best of teams at times....

  12. That’s a real gut-wrencher.

  13. Still 4-0 Halos and the Caps still can't play even a 50-minute game w/ 100 percent effort.

5-2 lead now 5-3 and they BARELY survived an ATL power play.

"Kovalchuk had a layup and missed" Our basketball...er....hockey announcer said.

  14. Lackey pitching great, strikes out the side, 7 in the game.

  15. Caps survive 5-4, they give ATL a 2-man advantage w/ under 90 seconds, Kovalchuk scores. Ovechkin takes a STOOPID tripping penalty and Afinogenov misses twice on the doorstep. Thank you, Thrashers for giving the Caps two points.

ARoid doubles w/ 2 out in the 6th for NYY, Matsui up.

  16. Nice control Lackey, from 0-2 to Matsui to a walk.

  17. Lackey retires Cano to end Top of 6th. 4-0 Angels

  18. I can't believe how the Angels have fallen apart.

BTW, Jason from The Big Lead is talking shit about the Phillies bullpen on Twitter.

  19. Oof! I missed all the fun!

    /Still working on my project.

    ///Bring on the Yankees!

  20. I leave for 10 minutes and all hell breaks loose. Great job by the Angels bullpen! /sarcasm/

What do the Angels and Dodgers have in common? They play in L.A. and their bullpen provide more heartburn than relief.

  21. Reading everyone's tweets, you think the Yankees wouldn't even have to play the Phillies that MLB should just give them the World Series.

Do they forget that the Phillies are defending champions? Do they forget that the Phillies lineup is just as big and powerful as the Yankees?

Reading people's tweets tonight makes me wish the Phillies sweep the Yankees.

  22. I want to watch another WS w/ two teams I can root for. Last year was fun not hating either team.

  23. Vlad ties the game! One crappy bullpen deserves another!

  24. Take that fucking Yankees fans. Tied game.

  25. @Al- I hate what the Angels did to me in 02, but after seeing everyone's tweets tonight, I'm rooting for them.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Morales comes through! Buck showing emotion! Angels lead 7-6, unbelievable! I thought they were done.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Keith, I'd understand even if you wanted to root against the Angels but the Yankee bias from their bandwagon fans and especially the East Coast media is annoying.

    ReplyDelete
  28. It's the Yankees fans that I find annoyinng more than anything else. They are so damn arrogant.

  29. First good managerial move tonight from Scoiscia int. walking ARoid.
