  1. There is a giant disco ball in the Flyers arena.

    ReplyDelete
  2. what a night for Manny Malhotra!

meanwhile Shaun Hill continued the sucky weekend for Maryland football

    ReplyDelete
  3. I am lazy. Therefore, this will be used as the ALCS Game 6 open thread after all.

    ReplyDelete
  4. Pettitte looks on his game

    word verification: Brant, as in
    Tim Brant...

    ReplyDelete
  5. HOLY SHIT!!!!!!!!

    HARTNELL WAS JUST DESTROYED.

    Sharks finally done fucking around.

    ReplyDelete
  6. HELLY YEAH

IT WAS HEATLEY WHO DESTROYED HARTNELL.

    ReplyDelete
  7. What the hell is going on with these threads?

    ReplyDelete
  8. There's too much on tonight for me to really watch a regular season Flyers game. Plus I have a ton of work to do today.

    ReplyDelete
  9. I figured this post was fine but apparently he did not notice my changes...

    ReplyDelete
  10. "Pettitte gets away w/ a lot more" - McCarver on Pettitte's BALK move to 1st.

OF COURSE HE DOES, HE'S A FUCKING YANKEE! I could think on the mound and the umps would call a balk and nice baserunning Vlad...awful.

  11. Who do you guys say win this game?

    ReplyDelete
  12. Rogers-Cromartie intercepts Manning's deepball at the goalline in the Giants/Cards game, if anybody cares.

    ReplyDelete
  13. @JFein- Hate to say it, but the Yankees.

BTW, did you guys see that incredible interception in the AZ-New York game? We got our first Manning Face of the evening.

    ReplyDelete
  14. I sort of care, but I'm watching baseball and I have work to do (which I am currently procrastinating).

    ReplyDelete
  15. JFein, I'm thinking the Angels will win tonight but not tomorrow in game 7. I'm going to apply the old NBA conspiracy theory policy, long series w/ the favorite winning.

    ReplyDelete
  16. @ Keith: Just saw the replay. That. Was. Incredible.

    ReplyDelete
  17. And I'm taking the Giants in the football game to clear everything up. Cards don't win on the road against GOOD east-coast teams.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Scott Nichol just flopped and it cost Philly a penalty.

    Suck it Pronger

    ReplyDelete
  19. I'm thinking both New York teams win tonight.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Angels killer Derek Jeter up , 1st and 2nd, 2 out.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Bases loaded for Damon with 2 out.

    ReplyDelete
  22. this is MLB, not the NBA

after all they junked CB Bucknor, Stern would've assigned him to a Game 7.

so please quit whining about the Yankees

    ReplyDelete
  23. Damon grounds weakly to 1st to end the inning. Thank you Joe Saunders for showing some intestinal fortitude.

    ReplyDelete
  24. @ 49er16: Since when does George Clooney coach the Sharks?

    ReplyDelete
  25. @JFein-Ha!

I was just going to ask you when the Flyers let a Libraian coach their team.

    ReplyDelete
  26. It's so much fun to whine about the Yankees or any team I hate. Easier to have a rooting interest when my favorite team in mostly every other sport doesn't get anywhere close.

    ReplyDelete
  27. In case you have not heard yet, Steve Phillips has been fired from ESPN.

    ReplyDelete
  28. You're right, Keith, John Stevens does have that odd look to him...

    ReplyDelete
  29. The question was when not if he would be fired after having an affair when he was the Mets GM.

    ReplyDelete
  30. ESPN couldn't afford to keep Phillips around.

IMO, they fired him too late. You don't take as big of PR hit if you just fire him right away.

    ReplyDelete
  31. And the same thing has happened with his career at ESPN. Some people just never learn...

    ReplyDelete
  32. Buck talking about Figgins w/ 1 RBI and Abreu 2 RBI's in the entire postseason. Amazing they've gotten to game 6 of the ALCS.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Abreu with a single to put the Angels up 1-0.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Abreu comes through w/ a 2 out RBI single scoring Mathis, 1-0.

    ReplyDelete
  35. classic move by ESPN to bury that news on a Sunday night of football and a Yankees MLB game

    ReplyDelete
  36. Giants interception in ARZ territory, 29 yd line. Next play Jacobs runs to the 5.

    ReplyDelete
  37. It's too bad the Sharks have to beat Boucher.

    ReplyDelete
  38. For something slightly disturbing, click here....(NSFW and children under 18!!!)

    http://www.thefightins.com/meechone/looks-like-somebody-is-excited-about-the-world-series-berth/

Aspeaking of posts from The Fightins, here's a quote that sort of summarizes how I feel about the Yankees and this series.: "It’s like waiting for Christmas, I swear. Hoping the Yankees can finish off the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, CA, United States of America, North America, Earth tonight. I want to see a rested CC get whooped. Anything less, and you know we’ll just hear more ‘fluke’ talk. I want their best at their best." Yeah, let's do this right fricken' now!!!

    ReplyDelete
  39. Hell, ESPN is smart. They do a lot of things to piss me off but if I'm in their position, I would do the same thing. Everybody cares about NFL/Yankees-MLB right now. Jacobs TD, 7-0 Giants

    ReplyDelete
  40. I like Brian Boucher as well. He's definitley one of the good guys in hockey.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Hahn and Remenda have talked about how they miss Boucher. The funny thing about this game is the goalie who replaced Boucher as the back up (Thomas Griess) is starting tonight for the Sharks.

    ReplyDelete
  42. @Philly Phans

be careful what you guys wish for re: the Yankees

    ReplyDelete
  43. The one thing about a long series I hate is hearing the same crap from announcers, McCarver AGAIN talking about Joe Maddon's praise of ARod's plate coverage.

Timmy, come up w/ some new stuff and don't talk just to hear your voice.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Any other ball park and that is an easy fly out.

    ReplyDelete
  45. @ kt1000: I think everyone in Philly is ready and willing to face the Yankees and to face them at their best with their best on the mound for Game 1 against our best on the mound for Game 1.

    ReplyDelete
  46. extra fun for the Yankee haters in the audience:

    http://www.nytimes.com/2009/10/24/nyregion/24stadium.html?_r=2&scp=2&sq=yankee%20stadium&st=cse

    ReplyDelete
  47. Ortmeyer just laid the dagger to the Flyers and Bouch.

    4-1 Sharks

    ReplyDelete
  48. JFein, aren't we forgettin CBP in Philly? Honorable mention: Camden Yards

    ReplyDelete
  49. @JFein

at least someone wants to take them on as is, rather than trying to legislate them out of business

    ReplyDelete
  50. @ Al: That ball is not that close in CBP.

    ReplyDelete
  51. http://www.nytimes.com/2009/10/24/nyregion/24stadium.html?_r=2&scp=2&sq=yankee%20stadium&st=cse

I guess ticket prices next year are going up to cover the cost of fixing those cracks.

    ReplyDelete
  52. @ kt: I think a lot of people here want to take them on as is. Neither the players, coaches, nor the fans of the Phillies are afraid of the Yankees at 100%. We say bring on Lee vs. CC in Game 1, 4, and 7, if need be.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Camden Yards is a fairly neutral run park nowadays.

M&T Bank Stadium and the butt-ugly hotel they built behind left field have knocked down the prevailing wind...its a fair stadium now

    ReplyDelete
  54. @JFein.. i was completely agreeing w/ your 9:24 comment

    ReplyDelete
  55. Well besides shitting the bed in Washington and Tampa Bay, that was a successful road trip for the Sharks.

    Suck it Pronger!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  56. @kt1000

So who wants to legislate the Yankees out of business?

And on the home run ballparks, CBP really when it first opened and Camden Yards back in the 90s seemed like the new Yankee Stadium is now to me w/ homers.

    ReplyDelete
  57. On the Maryland/Duke replay from CSN D.C., the announcers were saying Duke was trying to and did become 2-1 in ACC play for the first time since 1994.

The football program has not exactly even come close to matching women's hoops let alone the men.

    ReplyDelete
  58. 2 on, 0 out for the Yanks. Cabrera sacrifices them to 2nd and 3rd.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Cards scored a TD, 7-7 on the FOX ticker.

Meanwhile, Jeter walks again and the bases are loaded again.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Damon a 2-run single, Yanks finally come through w/ RISP.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Here we go! Now it's 2-1 Yankees!

    ReplyDelete
  62. Manning to Nicks, 62-yard pass TD, 14-7 Giants.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Close 3-1 pitch but ARod walks, 3-1lead for the Yanks.

    ReplyDelete
  64. A little outside on the FOX Trax on the pitch to ARod but Dale Scott has been bad for both sides. Saunders and Scoiscia shouldn't complain.

Big 4-6-3 double play by the Angels to stop the rally. 14-10 Giants at the half of the SNF game.

    ReplyDelete
  65. I've really lost all interest in baseball. I'm just watching this game for I don't jinx the Giants. I want them to beat Arizona.

    ReplyDelete
  66. @ 49er16: Yeah, it seems like you've been bad luck as of late. ;-)

    /49ers'd.

    ReplyDelete
  67. The506 maps and announcing schedule is up for next week already. Eagles got Kenny, Moose, and Goose and poor Mookie, he's going to have to listen to Dick Stockton and Charles Davis.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Keith, to make you feel better I've missed every score in the Giants/Cards game to watch this waste of a baseball game from my perspective rooting against the Yankees.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Good night, guys. I have to go to school early tomorrow, so I'm going to bed now.

    ReplyDelete
  70. JFein, I'm surprised the Redskins haven't gotten Stockton/Davis yet. We've gotten Rosen and Ryan and Brenneman and Billick twice for FOX as our crews.

We'll probably get Chris Rose if the Deadskins continue to suck.

    ReplyDelete
  71. Warner to Wright for an AZ TD after Wilson picks off Manning on a tipped ball. 24-14 Cards.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Yankees are 8 outs away from going to the World Series.

    ReplyDelete
  73. @ Al: You'll get them soon enough, I'm sure.

Do the Redskins play the Seahawks at all? They've practically done a Nantz and Simms a la New England with the Seahawks....

/Cries a sincere tear for Mookie.
//A part of me died inside listening to them Week 1.

    ReplyDelete
  74. Pitching change in the Bronx, 1 on 1 out-Top 7.

    ReplyDelete
  75. I wonder if we'll see Sarge, Jr. tonight....

    ReplyDelete
  76. It's weird w/ the NFL crews. Gumber/Dierdorf have done a bunch of Jets games. Enberg/Fouts have done at least 3 Chargers games. And Stockton/Davis w/ the Seahawks.

We already know Nants/Simms do almost every CBS Patriots game and Aikman's crew at Fox does about each Cowboy game their network has.

    ReplyDelete
  77. @ Al: It's a no-brainer that Fox would put Aikman with at the site of Favre Bowl II as that may break all sorts of regular season NFL on Fox records, but I'm sort of surprised they gave Kenny, Moose, and Goose the Eagles-Giants game as opposed to Seahawks-Cowboys.

    ReplyDelete
  78. @ Al: Correct me if I'm wrong, but haven't the Chargers historically gotten Dick Enberg a lot? Maybe it's just me, but it seems to me like they like to keep Enberg out on the west coast as much as they possibly can.

    ReplyDelete
  79. I must admit, I've got butterflies in my stomach now. It looks like it could finally be happening.

Oh my, Kazmir's warming up? Yep, it's time to get ready for Phils-Yankees!

    ReplyDelete
  80. From the506.com, Nantz/Simms since 2004 have called 33 Patriots games 7 more than the Steelers.

Buck/Aikman have broadcast 26 Cowboys games since 2005 as a duo (Collinworth left for NBC after the Eagles/Pats Super Bowl, I think).

    ReplyDelete
  81. Whoa! Mike Freeman does like holding back. Check out this zinger from this column that I am currently reading from him.

"'I can't say the Phillies wanted it more than us,' Joe Torre said.

    I can and they did.

There's more hustle in Steve Phillips' pants than there were in the Dodgers."

    (BA-ZING!!!)

    ReplyDelete
  82. @ Al: You're absolutely right. The Eagles/Pats Super Bowl was the last game Cris Collinsworth called with Buck and Aikman.

    ReplyDelete
  83. 5 outs away, but the Angels have the tying run at the plate with a runner on 2nd.

    ReplyDelete
  84. JFein, if the Chargers are at home and/or they're not playing the Pats or the Steelers, Enberg is a good bet since he was moved to the C team.

The A and B teams usually get the big headliner games so it's not surprising CBS assigns more freely after their #2 game.

Summerrall did a ton of Cowboys games in 2001-02 (they really sucked then) when FOX made Buck the lead NFL guy.

Four outs away from Phils/Yanks WS.

    ReplyDelete
  85. I hate to say it but the Yankees are playing awesome defense in this game/series.

    ReplyDelete
  86. Single scores a runner from 2nd. It's now 3-2 Yankees with 2 down in the top of the 8th.

    ReplyDelete
  87. JFein, Mike Freeman just made watching this game more enjoyable. So does Vladdy w/ a RBI single! 3-2

    ReplyDelete
  88. Morales grounds out to end inning.

Big fumble by Bradshaw just across midfield for NYG. Forced by the ex-Eagle Matt Ware.

    ReplyDelete
  89. Giants get ball back on a punt at their own 9.

Kazmir coming in for LAA. What's Scoiscia doing? Kazmir will walk a 3-year old kid playing whiffleball let alone a NYY hitter.

    ReplyDelete
  90. Giants backed up to their own 1 after a personal foul on Bradshaw.

    ReplyDelete
  91. Kazmir's pitching......this game will soon be over.

    ReplyDelete
  92. Manning to Smith! To the Giants 38 yd line! 1st down on a 3rd and 15 pass.

    ReplyDelete
  93. Angels are completely falling apart in the bottom of this 8th inning.

    ReplyDelete
  94. Kendrick drops a throw to 1st on a sacrifice, Kazmir airmails a throw on another sacrifice, 4-2 Yanks.

Angels deseve to lose this series because of their shitty defense and baserunning. Little leaguers have shown better fundamentals.

BTW, Giants down by 7 but at the AZ 37 yd line.

    ReplyDelete
  95. Giants at the AZ 39 yard line, incompletion makes it 2nd dow.

    ReplyDelete
  96. Antrel Rolle intercepts for Manning! Game over basically. Terrible decision by Eli into triple coverage.

    ReplyDelete
  97. And you probably thought I was joking when I said that Kazmir in this game meant the end for the Angels...

    ReplyDelete
  98. And to cap it all off, we get a great shot of Manning Face.

Oh, Eli, is that a beard for crumbs from Double Stuffed Oreos?

    ReplyDelete
  99. Cardinals have won 3 straight road games for the 1st time since 1987, 24-17 over NYG. Giants at Eagles on Sunday.

    ReplyDelete
  100. And you probably thought I was joking when I said that Kazmir in this game meant the end for the Angels...

JFein, I wasn't. Yankees are one hit away from making this a blowout.

    ReplyDelete
  101. 5-2 Yankees on the sac fly.

    I'm pumped!!!

    ReplyDelete
  102. @JFein remember, Enberg lives in San Diego.. a couple of years ago he and Bilas called a NCAA Tourney regional that was in SD.

bringing in a starter in a 1-run 8th inning game is exactly why Scioscia and the Angels deserve to lose. the weakest inning for a starter is generally the first, so why in the hell would you go for it now? the lefty matchup can't be that overwhelming

    ReplyDelete
  103. Well, a sac fly scores a run, 5-2.

Next sunday should be two NY at PHI matchups on FOX barring a miracle...

the Angels actually playing like an MLB team not as if they're the Bad News Bears.

    ReplyDelete
  104. But I think Bob griese is next out the door after his comments about Juan Pablo Montoya out to get a taco yesterday (10/24).

BTW, what are you going out for Halloween as?

    ReplyDelete
  105. kt, I forgot to add that Enberg lives in San Diego. I assumed everyone knew and yes Scoiscia is doing an awful job.

I changed my mind on walking ARod in the 9th inning of game 5. Fuentes was pitching and he's been bordering between scary-successful and crappy all year.

He nearly blew it if Swisher could hit anything other than air this postseason.

    ReplyDelete
  106. To the top of the 9th we go. Do the Angels have it in them or do we have the World Series of the decade?

Seriously, match-up wise, have we had anything like this this decade?

    ReplyDelete
  107. Let the Joisey Turnpike Series begin Wednesday (10/28). Fifty nine years revenge is on our mind.

    ReplyDelete
  108. @ JC: There is no way that one is not the Pammy quote of the year.

    1 down!

    ReplyDelete
  109. @JC you think Griese is going down? I'm still waiting for CBS to fire Feherty and what he said was far worse than Griese's comment...

    ReplyDelete
  110. JC, I would dress up as Kane and trick-or-treat at Pete Rose's house.

And yes Bob Griese will be at least suspended, he may get lucky as a first-time stereotypical dumbass and saved from firing.

    ReplyDelete
  111. SARGE JR REPRESENTS THE LAST HOPE FOR THE ANGELS!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  112. See "Bob Knight" and "zero tolerance". Steve Phillips was kicked out of his job, Feherty and Bob Griese are next.

Oh by the way, BALL GAME OVER. AMERICAN LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES OVER. YANKEES WIN! THHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHE YANKEES WIN!!!

    ReplyDelete
  113. HERE WE GO!!!!!! PHILLIES WILL PLAY THE YANKEES IN THE WORLD SERIES!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  114. BTW, George Steinbrenner will throw out the first manager for the 2009 World Series Wednesday night.

    ReplyDelete
  115. JC, I would fire Griese and Feherty if I was running ESPN or CBS but their big networks w/ more things to worry about than us, contracts, viewer feedback.

Nice job, FOX showing every individual Yankee player celebrating on replays.

So, who do you think FOX wanted to win this series?

    I don't care if I'm a whiny bitch.

FOX and the NYY can s*ck my b*llsack

    ReplyDelete
  116. nice job by Kenny Albert to get from Pittsburgh to the Bronx for the trophy presentation

    ReplyDelete
  117. Wow, Kenny Albert hustling back from Pittsburgh to anchor the trophy presentation.

    ReplyDelete
  118. um, that happens on most sports broadcasts, getting reaction shots after a team wins.

but, you have to love the Yankees celebrating in the clubhouse, not on the field sharing it with their fans...

    ReplyDelete
  119. Kenny lives in New York, Rangers radio play-by-play guy so he would be home by now anyway but that's a good job at midnight.

    Only reason I'm still watching.

    ReplyDelete
  120. @ Al: Fox did that when the Phillies won the World Series. As a fan of the team they were doing that with, I loved it. Best part of that whole series-long broadcast.

    ReplyDelete
  121. Kenny Albert = Kirk Herbstreit on steroids.

    ReplyDelete
  122. I have officially procrastinated this work for 4 hours now. Yay, me. Good night, all!

    ReplyDelete
  123. kt, I was blowing off some steam.

Congratulations to the Yankees, they actually are playing like one team not a bunch of individuals grouped together.
