May 10 Stanley Cup Playoffs Open Thread: It's All About Power And Taking Control

As crazy as it might sound that this game is a must win for the Bruins. If the Flyers take this game, the series will go back to Philadelphia with a chance to tie the series and force Game 7. If the Flyers win this, the Bruins will begin to get nervous and feel uneasy. If the Flyers win this, all of a sudden, history being made will get talked about a lot. If the Flyers win this.......

....if they don't win this the series was a complete disaster. If the Bruins win this, it will be as if the series was never close. 4 games to 1 is a comfortable series win for anyone. The one goal games will be forgotten about by history, the Flyers outplaying the Bruins in Game 3 despite losing the game 4-1 will be forgotten. If the Bruins win, it will be Snowball 2, Hell 0 and the Flyers playoff hopes will sleep with the Sabres and the Edmund Fitzgerald at the bottom of the Gitchee-Gumee.

Now for some programming notes on this game. Because the people who schedule these things are so smart, they have scheduled the Flyers-Bruins game and the Pens-Habs game on the same day at the exact same time. The Pens and Habs are being put on Versus nationally with local blackouts (no more Versus exclusive broadcasts this round; Pens fans can watch on FSN Pittsburgh). For those of you outside the Philadelphia and Boston markets but still want to see the Flyers-Bruins game, Versus has an alternate channel on DirecTV (channel 604 or 604-1) that should be showing this game (presumably the Flyers broadcast). This channel is available on DirecTV and only DirecTV (kind of odd seeing as they just had a big fight). As far as everyone else goes, the game will be shown on Center Ice if you get that package, but outside of that, you will be stuck with Pittsburgh-Montreal for the duration of the day.

Game 5: Philadelphia @ Boston 7:00 (Versus-alt) (TSN2 - Gord Miller, ItG: Pierre McGuire)

Game 6: Pittsburgh @ Montreal 7:00 (Versus - Mike Emrick and Darren Eliot, SR: Charissa Thompson) (CBC - Bob Cole and Garry Galley, ItG: Glenn Healey)
