Game 3: Pittsburgh @ Montreal 7:00 (Versus - Mike Emrick and Darren Eliot, SR: Charissa Thompson) (CBC - Bob Cole and Garry Galley, ItG: Glenn Healey, SR: Elliotte Friedman)
Game 3: San Jose @ Detroit 7:30 (Versus) (TSN - Chris Cuthbert, ItG: Ray Ferraro)
And at 10:00 tonight on HBO, there is the world premiere of the much talked about, critically acclaimed, Broad Street Bullies documentary. Sadly, I do not get HBO and I have an 8 AM final tomorrow, so even finding a stream is out of the question for me tonight. The good news is that I will be home on Friday and HBO is going to be re-airing it on May 8. I do get HBO at home, so even though I can't see it tonight, I will watch it this Saturday. You can discuss it here if you want, though.
"It goes without say, Montreal is on fire." - Ron MacLean, with perhaps a rather poor choice of words.
ReplyDeleteDon Cherry looks like a Christmas tree in May.
ReplyDeleteBob Cole sounds awfully confused.
ReplyDeleteSo apparently someone lied and this game is not Versus exclusive. FSN Pitt is running their own broadcast.
ReplyDeleteIf the Flyers were on CSN Philly last night....
Sad, because Bob Cole on many occasions in the past would let the crowd count down to the Stanley Cup assuming the home team wins.
ReplyDeleteOne time when the Devils beat the Ducks in game 7 he just said "Heck, I'll get out of here" and the clock went to 0.
Bob Cole is a god compared to Dave Mishkin. Listen to this actual Stanley Cup call.

I've got FSN Pitt on TV, and I think my Sharks-Wings stream is the Hahn-Remenda broadcast.
ReplyDelete@ SSR: I hope that was radio........
ReplyDeleteI think I disagree with Remenda. I may have to see it again, but I think that is a good goal.
ReplyDeleteIt's a distinct kicking motion, not a moving forward motion.
I see it again and I can see where Remenda sees that it as a kick, but I do not think you can overturn that.
ReplyDeleteThat is a radio call and how he calls every goal/win for the Lightning.
ReplyDeleteSo how is Versus handling two hockey games 30 minutes apart?
It's an conspiracy against the Red Wings!
ReplyDelete@ SSR: They are joining the Wings-Sharks game in progress once the Habs/Pens game ends.
ReplyDeleteWings and Sharks fans can watch the game on CSN California and FSN Detroit, respectively.
Everything about CBC's coverage is better than Versus. Bob Cole is 155 years old so at this point I might as well give him a break for sucking. Beninati is awful and Peckham has that irritating "SCOOOOOOOOOOOORRRRRRRRESSSSSS" call.
ReplyDeleteMilbury aside Ron Maclean is an excellent host, Don Cherry is Don Cherry, and Kelly Hrudey is a good analyst.
The NHL seriously needs to take a look at dealing with another network soon for playoff coverage.
RIP Ernie Harwell.
ReplyDeleteHabs and Pens are still tied at 0 after 2.
ReplyDeleteAs a positive for Versus, they do have Daryl Reaugh, who is one of the best analysts in the sport. He worked the first round with Rick Peckham and in this round he is working with John Forslund and Daryl Reaugh on the Canucks series.
ReplyDeleteIn a game with a 1-0 Phillies lead at the top of the 9th, an idiot ran onto the field. He was not tasered, but right after he was taken off the field, Hamels gave up 2 doubles to the Cards who have tied that game at 1.
ReplyDeleteI hope this punk enjoys death threats!
Lidge pitches out of the jam and the game goes to the bottom of the 9th. Thank goodness.
ReplyDeletePens win 2-0 after Dupuis scores an empty-netter.
ReplyDeleteICE CREAM FOR ME!!!!!! ICE CREAM FOR YOU!!!! ICE CREAM FOR CHOOCH!!!!!! PHILLIES WIN IT THIS TIME! THE STREAKER IS SAVED!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI am going against my better judgment and am watching this Sharks-Wings game as opposed to doing something more productive....such as studying for my final exams.
ReplyDeleteMARLEAU WINS IT!!!!!!!! MARLEAU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! FREAKIN MARLEAU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteMethinks this is the Sharks year now.
I also think Randy Hahn will be spending the night in the hospital after that one.
Listen to the other Phillies bloggers. From here on out, let's IGNORE the moron that ran onto the field in the 9th. The Phillies won, his appearance was irrelevant, nothing notable happened. Post it on your website and the actions will repeat. Ignore it and then maybe this garbage will cease to exist. Let's talk about Chooch's walkoff HR in the 10th instead.
ReplyDeleteThis guy tweeted he was running out beforehand. He wants the publicity. End this fan-on-the-field nonsense by not giving it to him.
@JFein: I don't know how you felt about the 08 Phillies when they beat the Dodgers in the NLCS, but I feel like this might be the Sharks year.
ReplyDeleteBroad Street Bullies is the currently the #1 Twitter Trending Topic in Philadelphia. I clicked on it, and I have yet to see one bad or negative review about it.
ReplyDeleteI really can't wait to watch it now.
@ 49er16: All I'll say is when Marleau put that home, it had a Game 4 Matt Stairs moonshot feel to it. That's where my comment at FTF came from. The Dodgers were brain dead for the clinching Game 5 after that. It's only the conference semifinals and a lot can happen between now and then, but all of a sudden the Sharks have to be right there as the team to beat in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
ReplyDeleteI have not seen it, but Jon Stewart supposedly just did a hilarious segment on Philadelphia sports.
ReplyDeleteLike I said, I won't mention tonight's goon, but seeing as Taser Boy is basically lure now, I might post that video tomorrow if I think it is a). funny enough and b). remember to actually watch it.
