2009 NCAA First Round Schedule

Well, it is this particular reason that I discovered AA in the first place. Last year, this time I was wondering who the announcers would be for March Madness (and whether or not GuJo was back doing Sweet 16 games), and me being impatient, did not feel like waiting until Thrusday. So naturally, I went to Wikipedia for more information! Anyways, Wikipedia had a link to Awful Announcing and I clicked on that link. And that was it. I was hooked from there. Of course, if that does not happen, then I do not have a blog of my own and I have not had the great pleasure of chatting with you guys about sports. Anyways, enough about me and onto the schedule for Thursday and Friday of the NCAA Tournament!

Thursday, March 19th:

LSU vs. Butler (Greensboro, 12:20pm)- Jim Nantz/Clark Kellogg
Memphis vs. Cal. St. Northridge (Kansas City, 12:25pm)- Tim Brando/Mike Gminski

Friday, March 20th

Syracuse vs. Stephen F. Austin (Miami, 12:15pm)- Ian Eagle/Jim Spanarkel
Oklahoma St. vs. Tennessee (Dayton, 12:25pm)- Verne Lundquist/Bill Raftery
Kansas vs. North Dakota State (Minneapolis, 12:30pm)- Gus Johnson/Len Elmore

Wake Forest vs. Cleveland State (Miami, 9:40pm)- Ian Eagle/Jim Spanarkel
Ohio State vs. Siena (Dayton, 9:40pm)- Verne Lundquist/Bill Raftery
Michigan State vs. Robert Morris (Minneapolis, 9:50pm)- Gus Johnson/Len Elmore
Florida State vs. Wisconsin (Boise, 9:55)- Craig Bolerjack/Bob Wenzel

Villanova has Dick Enberg/Jay Bilas (I'm assuming Carter Blackburn will take the morning shift like he did last year) and Temple has Ian Eagle/Jim Spanarkel. Consider me happy! While my opinion of both Enberg and Bilas fluctuates on their performance of that day, Eagle and Spanarkel is one of my favorite March Madness announcing teams and thanks to Tim Brando and his 235 upsets in Tampa last year, I heard hardly any of Eagle/Spanarkel last year. And let me just say, my heart bleeds for those of you in KC and those of you that will end up stuck with 2 or more games from Kansas City. You've got Tim Brando! And for those in Minneapolis....get ready to RISE AND FIRE!

  1. Michigan hasn't been to the NCAAs in forever and we get "treated" to Tim Brando. Thanks, CBS. I put the O/U on "From ____ With Love" and bad puns during the game at 7.

  2. Thanks JFein, I have to deal with Brando because he is calling Cal's 1st round game.

  3. Only 7, RJBO, I'd set that O/U somewhere around 15.

And yes, I do pity the both of you.

  4. Blackburn will do the afternoon twinbill in Philly, Enberg will do the nighttime twinbill and te saturday doubleheader.

  5. I laugh at you in your misery.

I get Kevin Harlan, one of the best announcers in the game, and you're treated to Enberg/Bilas and BRANDO!!!!!!!!!

AA must have screwed up on purpose because he's in denial over having Tim Brando doing the Maryland game.

  6. I'm actually not a big fan of Kevin Harlan. He's certainly not horrible, but his voice irritates me sometimes.

None of the Philly teams have Brando. Nova has Enberg/Bilas and Temple has Eagle/Spanarkel.
