2010 FIFA World Cup Qualification (UPDATED FOR THE LAST TIME - 11/18)

So I have decided to take up the unenviable task of documenting the last few stages of World Cup qualification. I have listed below the current standings for each confederation's World Cup qualification competition, if you will. And in case you are not familiar with what is needed to qualify in each confederation (because each is different with each getting a different amount into the FIFA World Cup I will try to have a link up on the side of the blog so that you can check it whenever and hopefully I will be on top of this and update it after every game is played (I can't guarantee you immediate updating; it may take me a day or 2 or so)). Also linked at the bottom for your conveinence is the standings pages on both Wiki and the FIFA website (I link Wiki as well because the FIFA site uses the European system of dating, which is not the same as ours; i.e. instead of today being 3/30/09, in Europe and on the site it is written as 30/3/09.) Listed below are each confederation and the amount of points each team has in its respective group (if there are multiples); click on the links for more info!
Note: Teams with a line through them have been eliminated. Example

  2. It did take me a good hour and a half to put it together.

Group 3 is definitley shaping up to be an intriguing group. I, for one, would like to see Northern Ireland in it just for the surprise.

And would I be the only one interested in seeing North Korea making the World Cup just for the controversy?

  4. I saw some of the USA game. They probably should have gotten a few more goals though, from what bits and pieces I saw of it.

Everything has been updated. I'd like to post the scores, but that would overwhelm the post more so than it already is.

Austrailia is a win or a tie away from joining South Africa in the World Cup!

Disgusting to watch. Marvel Wynne is terrible at his job. Costa Rica now top of the table.

  7. Agreed. They were my extremely early pick to win the whole thing and now I wonder if they'll be able to make it. They catch a break in that their next game is against lowly last place Peru (I'm probably the only person in the U.S. with a Peru soccer jersey). If they can't beat them, then they don't deserve to even be in the playoff match against the 4th place CONCACAF game.

  9. It's too bad UEFA doesn't use a one pot draw. Who wouldn't want to see France against Portugal to go to the World Cup? Other than the UEFA suits, of course.
