La Main de Dieu

It is quite safe to say that today's Ireland-France World Cup qualifying was slightly controversial.

How controversial, you ask? Well, the winning eventual clinching goal for the French in extra time consisted of a missed offsides call and the Hand of Thierry Henry God striking down on the Irish.

That game would go on to end up tied at 1, thus securing a World Cup birth to the French due to the fact that they won 1-0 in Dublin 4 days ago. You don't have to a math major to know that that means that France wins the aggregate 2-1 and Les Bleus will be going to l'Afrique Sud.

Once the Uruguay-Costa Rica game ends, I'll have a list up of your 32 World Cup teams.

  1. I don't even like Soccer and this pisses me off, because they are French.

  2. You know what? Despite the missed calls, the Irish players didn't play all the way through to the whistle. Put your hands down and keep marking your man.

  3. Thierry Henry made Diego Maradona proud w/ that hand ball.

That was awful. How did the refs missed that? Do we need video review in soccer, too?!

On the bright side, I have a team to root against besides whomever is playing America.
