UConn Wins One For Jazz

After 3 excruciatingly rough losses following the loss of their teammate Jasper Howard, UConn finally won a game and they did so on the biggest of scales. It was not easy though. With a chance to win it in regulation, Notre Dame fumbled the ball and UConn recovered it. A big Dixon gain put them in field goal range. However, the FG with 3 seconds left was shanked and it went to overtime. After trading touchdowns in the first OT, UConn was able to hold ND to a field goal in the 2nd overtime. UConn then got the ball and a chance to respond. This was for Jazz.

Simply an incredible finish and while that may be the end of Charlie Weis' tenure in South Bend, the story of the day and of the game has to be UConn, finally winning a game since the death of Jasper Howard. Despite the tough last-second losses the past 3 games, they never gave up. Despite missing a game-winning field goal, they never gave up. And they persevered. And finally tonight, they prevailed. That is what heart is all about. Congrats to UConn. They deversve it.

As does Notre Dame. They deserve this as well.

FYI, as soon as the Randy Edsell interview is up on YouTube, I'll add it as an update. It will put a smile on your face and maybe even a lump in your throat.

Update: Here's a local news broadcast showing highlights of the game with an abridged version of the Edsell interview, but it's better than nothing, I guess. If the full version comes up, I will surely put that here instead.
