Holy Hell, it's week 10 already. Pretty soon we'll be analyzing 50,000 playoff scenarios like there is no tomorrow. That's always one of my favorite parts of the year. Anyway, here is what your Week 10 schedule looks like. (all times eastern; games I get are in bold)
Thursday Night Football
Chicago Bears @ San Francisco 49ers 8:20 (NFL-Network - Bob Papa and Matt Millen)
Map of who gets what CBS game
Cincinnati Bengals @ Pittsburgh Steelers 1:00 (CBS - Jim Nantz and Phil Simms)
Denver Broncos @ Washington Redskins 1:00 (CBS - Greg Gumbel and Dan Dierdorf)
Jacksonville Jaguars @ New York Jets 1:00 (CBS - Dick Enberg and Dan Fouts)
Buffalo Bills @ Tennessee Titans 1:00 (CBS - Ian Eagle and Rich Gannon)

Map of who gets what Fox late game.

Philadelphia Eagles @ San Diego Chargers 4:15 (Fox - Thom Brennaman and Brian Billick)
Sunday Night Football
New England Patriots @ Indianapolis Colts 8:20 (NBC - Al Michaels and Cris Collinsworth)
Monday Night Football
Baltimore Ravens @ Cleveland Browns 8:30 (ESPN - Mike Tirico, Ron Jaworski, and Jon Gruden)
Dick and Mangina again for Seattle? That's 5 out of 9 games! Surely that's some sort of record or something. And Mookie, if you're still alive, I really do feel sorry for you. Maybe you're on to something after all when you say that Seattle sports are cursed.
Oh, and whose idea was it to give the Cleveland Browns a home Monday Night game? Wow. Nothing like one of the worst teams in the league hosting a Monday Night game Week 10 of the season.
I will once again be missing in action this week. Have to go with my father to close up our cabin.
ReplyDeleteThat's fine. You're still doing the live blog on Thursday, right?
ReplyDeleteYes, I will be doing a live blog Thursday night even though I don't want to.
ReplyDeleteI don't want the rest of the world witnessing how bad the Niners have become.
Random question, once again I have ESPN Classic on, although this time, it's some 25th anniversary game with Miami and Maryland.
ReplyDeleteHow has Mike Patrick been employed for over 25 years?
@JFein that's the greatest game in the history of Maryland football. Long live Frank Reich! OTOH, i'm sorry i'm going to miss the bad announcer-off between you and Mookie. Those jokes will practically write themselves.
ReplyDeleteMemo to people messing with Dick Stockton's Wikipedia page: Don't play jokes with his future employment.
ReplyDeleteThey're joking (heh, heh)...right? RIGHT?????
isn't Stockton to ESPN Nathan you know who's pet project?
ReplyDeletein regards to Mike Patrick, he was really good before his health problems appx. 4-5 years ago. When CBS won the AFC contract in 98, they offered their #1 NFL/#2 NCAA job to Patrick, but he chose to stay with the 4-letter.
@ kt: I turned it on right at the point that MD got a game-leading TD with 5-minutes to go.
ReplyDeleteThis is going to seem odd, but even though the game was well before my time, 35 years ago, and I had never seen a previous re-air of it on Classic, I picked up that it was Mike Patrick right away. His voice has not changed much at all. Sure he sounds 25 years younger and it's a little more high pitched, but other than that, I picked up on him 5 seconds after I first heard him. On the other hand, see if you can find the Boston-Philly "Beat LA" chant. Dick Stockton was on the call of that game and he sounds so much different now than he did than that it is unrecognizable.
Of course, his "Holy Cow!" after the 85-yard TD only confirmed it for me that that game was Patrcik.
I must say, though, that the day he recovered from his health problems and returned to the booth was quite a happy day for me. It meant no more senile Pat Summerall in the booth!
Summerall was great in his day, but this decade has not been his day.
@JFein all the years of smoking Patrick did between 1984-2004 will lower your voice ;-) I wish I had known they were replaying MD-MIA. Truly one of the most astonishing games of all time. Supposedly Bobby Ross threatened to have practice on the airport runway the second the plane landed in Baltimore, if MD mailed it in during the 2nd Half.
ReplyDeleteSummerall is in his mid 80's and should be nowhere near a broadcast booth. It's sad Fox still reanimates him every New Year's just to do the Cotton Bowl.
JFein, do you have the Atlanta/Carolina game in bold because it's the best 1:00 game or cause you're getting it?
ReplyDeleteThe preliminary listings showed Lions/Favre going to 58 percent of the country including PA.
This maybe the one time where I'm glad the Deadskins play at home on CBS since we'll be blacked out from Favre on Fox. Favre on Fox sounds like a catchy slogan...actually it doesn't.
And the featured Fox DH game the Sunday after Thanksgiving (Week 12) is Bears/Favre. I think I would watch a NBA game instead.
Forget my earlier post, Fox changed their listings, they originally had Lions/Favre going to 58 percent of the U.S., now it's around 26.
ReplyDeleteThey're still going to showcase Favre versus the Bears as the DH game the Sunday after Thanksgiving. That's the only Fox game moved to 4:15 right now.
