Wow. Ever since crapping the bed against the Chargers, Andy Reid has seriously, thorough no doing of his own, had the best week ever. First Bill Belichick's infamous 4th down call inside his own territory against Indy that cost the Pats the game, and now, believe it or not, Les Miles has successfully trumped that idiocy!
So here is the situation. It is 3rd and 19. LSU attempts a screen pass that gets blown up for a loss of 7 setting up 4th and 26 with 26 seconds left. Les Miles then inexplicably lets the clock wind down to 9 seconds before calling LSU's final timeout. What happens next is simply unbelieveable. And the call by Verne Lundquist one of the funniest end-of-game calls you will ever hear.
Really??? Spike the ball with 1 second left??? How dumb can you be? That FG may not be guaranteed to be off in time, but you have to have them ready to run out there so they can at least have the chance. The wasting of the clock after 3rd down before the last timeout, the not having your FG team ready in case of a 4th down completion for a 1st down and not a touchdown, as what happened, and then spiking the ball with 1 second left is completely hilarious.
That "MY GOSH!" may become my new phrase in the live blog whenever I'm pissed off at Andy Reid. Unbelieveable. That may be the funniest end of a game I have ever seen.
If you're taking "My gosh!" for the live blog then I'm taking "WHAT ARE THEY DOING?!" from Verne. That was classic.
ReplyDeleteVerne sounded so angry like LSU, specifically Les Miles, was disgracing football w/ those bad coaching fundamentals. i think he was offended as a fan watching that disaster.
Use your TO earlier when the 3rd down play ends and get the FG team ready. I mean "WHAT ARE THEY DOING???".
