Really, MLB? We open the 2010 season on the road against the Washington Fucking Natinals? Oy ve. Just what all of baseball needs, the Nationals taking a 3-game lead over the Phillies in the NL East to start the year. Other than that, there really is not much to say other than why on earth does MLB release the schedule for 2010 in the middle of the home stretch for the 2009 season? This really can't wait until a day after the World Series ends? Whatever, I guess.

Wait, one other thing. If it was possible for any of you to have a nickel for everytime I call the upcoming year/season "0 ten" instead of "ten" or "twenty-ten", you'll be a certified trillionaire before you know it. I'm trying to catch myself, but I'm 0 for 2 thus far today...

  1. its too bad MLB couldn't give us an Orioles-Phillies repeat. in other news, if they're going to keep doing this interleague stuff, i'd much rather them mix up the matchups rather than repeat(like Phillies v Yankees, O's v Mets, etc.)

  2. I sort of agree with you, but at the same time, those are the marquee match-ups. Nobody wants to see the Phillies play the Cleveland Indians (although sadly we do) or any of the AL Central teams for that matter, except for maybe the White Sox. Those games would not sell, even in Philly, where they are among the league leaders in sold out crowd this year. I dread to learn the attendance numbers for the Nats-Indians series in June. The stuff that keeps MLB Interleague play interesting is the Subway Series, North Side vs. South Side, and so on and so forth. In other words, NL East vs. AL East and so on and so forth with the other divisions.

    While I can't say the same about elsewhere and other teams, but Phils-Yankees and Phils-Sawx sells big time in Philly. Whenever they come to town, tickets are hard to find.

  3. IIRC, when interleague started the plan was to keep the matchups the same (East v East and so on)but after a few years people wanted to see other matchups & go to other cities. i'd much rather see the Orioles play the Dodgers or D'Backs(as unexciting as it may seem)than the Marlins or Mets. Maybe its time to end IL rather than keeping it going for the sake of a few cities where one fanbase hates the other.

    But the Tigers are 10 games over .500!!!!!

    except for maybe the White Sox.

  5. Wait. Don't the Tigers have that one guy. Yeah! He's pretty good....

    I admit it. I've been following MLB highlights of White Sox and have developed a Brennaman-esque man crush on Hawk Harrelson.

    GASSSSSS!!!!!!!

    /Certainly did not have to use Wikipedia to find that expression.
    //I love Hawk!

    ////Sarcasm.

  6. Wikipedia? If your cable company has WGN America, you can watch Hawk and former Orioles ace Steve Stone call the Good Guys-Mariners game right now!

    Or gouge your eyes out.
    Or watch a replay of the Mike & Mike Chargers-Raiders broadcast.

    /whichever one's the least painful'd
