You'll Never Guess Which Team's Ticket Prices Will Be Lower For The Playoffs Than They Were For The Season

Surprise. Surprise. Surprise. Somehow spending over $2000 for a ticket at New Yankee Stadium did not appeal to the average fan. Or hell, it probably hardly appealed to the rich fan (unless of course you're a millionaire). But now, the Yankees are finally getting sensible when it comes to ticket prices for those same seats that were once thousands of dollars. Wait, they're slashing them by how much? From the News Day

The Yankees will lower ticket prices for select sections during the first round of the 2009 playoffs.

Season-ticket holders with seats in Field Level sections 115-125, rows 12-30, will actually be able to buy ALDS tickets for $50 cheaper than they would have paid during the regular season. And ALDS prices for many other season-ticket holders will remain the same as the regular season cost.

Playoff tickets made available to the public will cost slightly more than regular season prices, on average, with seats in most sections going up between $2 and $20 per seat. The only exception is the obstructed-view bleacher seats, which will continue to cost just $5.

In the ALCS and World Series, prices would rise as expected, although season-ticket holders will be able to buy their tickets at a small discount, depending on the section.
Oh, my. I must say, though, when I first heard this story while watching Mike & Mike In The Morning (it was what was on in the lounge at the time!), they were saying that the multi-thousand dollar seats were being cut reasonably to just over $200 and more if there is an ALCS and/or World Series there. Nice to see them think of the average fans for once (well, sort of).

  3. I really couldn't tell you seeing as I have only spent a total of 10 minutes of my life watching them....

Red Sox are becoming worse and worse than the Yankees are. If it comes down to Phils-Yanks in the World Series, I think there's a good chance that we do beat them.

  5. Phils have done well enough against St. Louis this year that I don't see any problems against them. The Giants are the only team that I'm worried will prevent the Phils from winning a 2nd straight NLCS and to be the 1st NL team to repeat in the World Series since 1970.
