News That Has Been Buried Under The Nova Collapse And Opening Night

Completely forgotten about under the headlines of the Nova game last night and the Phillies upcoming game tonight is the fact that the Philadelphia 76ers have clinched a playoff berth in the NBA playoffs!

The Sixers have been completely underlooked this year, even by yours truly. I have not watched much of the Sixers at all this year, and subsequently will be one of those douche bag bandwagon fans when I start watching them in the playoffs (I know, I know, no need to rub it in or say anything else).

The Flyers had a chance to clinch the playoffs last night as well and it would have been shades of last year's Double Clinch Friday, where both the Flyers and the Sixers clinched on the same night, but that was not to be last night. The Flyers lost in a shootout. Had they gotten that 2nd point and won that game, they would be in the playoffs. Now, all they have to do is get 1 more point to be in the playoffs. They just can't lose all 4 games in regulation. So in other words, they can go 0-3-1 in their last 4 games and they'll be in the playoffs. Add that to the fact that in order to be out of the playoffs the fact that the Florida Panthers need to get all 8 of the last 8 remaining points available to them, and it's pretty much going to be acacemic for the Flyers, but crazier things have happened, I guess. Even though it's a local game only, I will have a live blog of the Flyers next game, it's on Tuesday and coincidentally it's going to be against the Florida Panthers.
