  1. In the 2000 Eastern Conference Semifinals the Flyers played the Penguins and the Pens won the first 2 games. The Flyers won Game 3. The game that followed was arguably the greatest game in NHL history.

    Just saying.

  2. Note to Steve Coates (a.k.a. Coatsey): Never grow a beard again.

Flyers have come out strong so far. Here's hoping that they can keep it up.

  4. "Officials need to know that Evgeni Malkin can to to the penalty box." - Jim Jackson on Malkin getting away with calls.
"It's in his contract." - Bill Clement

  5. Oh! The iron was downright rude to Sykora!

Word verification: crois. Which is a conjugated form of the French verb "croire", which means to believe. Je crois = I believe.

    ReplyDelete
  6. The CBC main network is airing this live until the Canucks game begins. Then it will be shifted to a digital channel (CBC Bold I think) and of course can still be viewed on cbcsports.ca

    ReplyDelete
  7. Thanks. PTM just had CBCsports.ca listed as the channel to view this game on in Canada nationally.

    0-0 after 1 in Pens-Flyers.
Detroit leads Columbus 2-0 after 1.
Carolina leads New Jersey 2-0 midway through the first.

  8. Hey SSR, I'm batting 1.000 with these Olbermann live blogs. Shuster is in AGAIN!

    ReplyDelete
  9. Penguins just got a little cheapie. That should be reviewed because a). it's pretty much goalline interference and b). I'm pretty sure that was a kicking motion and it went off his glove.

    ReplyDelete
  10. It stands and it's 1-0 Pittsburgh.

    ReplyDelete
  11. DAMN! LEFT-HANDED LARCENY FROM FLEURY ROBBED THE FLYERS!

    ReplyDelete
  12. Something tells me something happened with Olbermann in his personal life to cause him to miss so many days.

At least that's one last thing to live blog! =)

    ReplyDelete
  13. Kennedy connects with a backhander and it's 2-0 Pens.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Fleury has been absolutely lights-out tonight.

    ReplyDelete
  15. 1-0 Canucks. Just tuned in so don't know who scored.

    COME ON YOU CANUCKS!!

    ReplyDelete
  16. JFein, for a soccer post, Liverpool played Chelsea and Arsenal in a 1 week span. Liverpool against 2 London clubs in 2 different competitions.

    Both games ended 4-4.

Jon Champion's commentary was masterful. I'll find a video for you. He could commentate on the NFL for me.

    ReplyDelete
  17. If ever it was just not meant to be for a team on a night, it's the Flyers tonight. Fleury has been lights out and the puck just has not bounced there way thus far.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Kyle Wellwood scored the goal for Vancouver.

    ReplyDelete
  19. That was a complete bullshit call. Mike Richards' skate accidentally glanced Fleury's just enough to cause him to stumble a bit, and the refs call tripping. Unbelievably bad and frustrating.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Flyers need a goal before intermission. Ther's 5:20 to go.

    COME ON FLYERS!!!

Damn! Fleury makes another fantastic save. Good grief, that guy is a brick wall today.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Scoring chances this period:

    Flyers 10
    Pens 2

    Goals this period:

    Flyers 0
    Pens 2

    ReplyDelete
  22. "Scidari will remember that one, boys." - Jim Jackson
"Yeah, if he can remember it." - Bill Clement

    ReplyDelete
  23. 2-0 Pens after 2 and the Pens will be on the power play for 1:45 to start the 3rd.

Disappointing......disappointing. Flyers really are playing so well, this game is not being played like a 2-goal Penguin lead.

    ReplyDelete
  24. We got a fight right in front of Luongo after Luongo didn't know where the puck was on a shot.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Enjoy your offseason JFein. It's ending in 5 just like last year. ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  26. Another power play for St. Louis.

    ReplyDelete
  27. 1-0 Canucks after 1 and the PP will carry over into the 2nd period for :36.

St. Louis doesn't want this series.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Enjoy your offseason JFein. It's ending in 5 just like last year. ;-)On the plus side, though, it won't interfere with the NFL Draft. Game 6, if necessary (and it would be if the Flyers win today or Thursday) would be on Saturday at 3 PM on NBC.

    ReplyDelete
  29. If this isn't a 3rd period of miracles, the Flyers are screwed. And oh goody, no team has come from behind this post-season when trailing after 2.

    ReplyDelete
  30. I just found Arsenal 4 Liverpool 4 Fanzone. You have to watch this one (1:13 is classic).

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3WD25BrL_UU

    ReplyDelete
  31. Flyers get a powerplay with 14:48 to go and they are down by 2.

    They need this.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Flyers nearly had one. Bounced right off the inside of the post and out.

    Powerplay over. Still 2-0 Penguins.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Flyers are getting their 8th powerplay of the game.

How this game is 2-0 Pittsburgh will forever be beyond me.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Blues now 1-21 on power plays. They wasted another one.

    ReplyDelete
  35. ALEX BURROWS!!!!!!! HE'S COME OUT OF THE PENALTY BOX AND HAS TIPPED THE PUCK IN TO MAKE IT 2-0!!! COME ON!!!!!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  36. CARCILLO SCORES!!!!!! IT'S ABOUT DAMN FUCKING TIME!!!!!!! AND THE FLYERS ARE WITHIN 1!!!

Sorry for the cursing SSR, I know you're not a fan of it, but damn, if you were watching this game and you were a Flyers fan, you'd say the exact same thing.

    ReplyDelete
  37. FYI, there's 7:59 to go in this game.

    ReplyDelete
  38. I don't mind swearing provided it's outside of my blog.

    Canucks on a PP.

    ReplyDelete
  39. NICE SAVE BY BIRON!

I can't sit down anymore! Under 6 to go.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Boyes actually scored. 2-1 game.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Flyers have not had a decent chance since the Carcillo goal. 5:35 to go.

    ReplyDelete
  42. It's a final in Columbus. 4-1 Detroit wins game 3.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Marty Biron just saved the series for the Flyers for the moment! 3:37 to go.

    ReplyDelete
  44. 2:09 to go and the Flyers just had a couple great chances. Still 2-1 Pens.

    ReplyDelete
  45. 2-2 game. ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!! Perron scores.

    ReplyDelete
  46. OH!!!! FLUTTERED ACROSS THE CREASE BEHIND FLEURY BUT NO ONE WAS THERE TO BANG IT HOME!!

    1:30 to go.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Talbot gets an empty netter off a bad turnover by the Flyers and that'll be it with 51.3 to go.

    FFFFFFFUUUUUUCCCCCKKKKKKKKKKK!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  48. It's official. The Penguins steal one in Philly, 3-1.

    ReplyDelete
  49. I am now hoping the Sharks don't get swept.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Let me tell you what.....it's one thing to lose a game, but it's another to completely outplay a team in every facet of the game and still lose. Unfuckingbelieveable.

Meanwhile, the Devils were once down 3-0 but they've since came back and tied it at 3.

    ReplyDelete
  51. THE HURRICANES HAVE WON!!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  52. HURRICANES SCORE RIGHT AT THE HORN TO WIN THE GAME!!!!!!! UNBELIEVEABLE!!!! UNBELIEVEABLE!!!! BRODEUR THINKS THERE SHOULD BE INTERFERENCE AND HE IS THROWING A TEMPER TANTRUM LIKE A LITTLE BABY!!!! IF THE FLYERS CAN'T WIN, AT LEAST I CAN TAKE SOLACE IN THAT THE DEVILS GOT SCREWED!!! FUCK YOU, DEVILS, FUCK YOU AND THEY JUST GOT FUCKED BY THE REFS!!! HAHA!!!

    /End semi-maniacal soapbox rant.
//Watching Flyers outplay Pens only to lose 3-1 does that to you.

    ReplyDelete
  53. I'll be sure to have the video of that up tomorrow.

    ReplyDelete
  54. What a finish to the Devils/Canes... the Canes just saved themselves...

    ReplyDelete
  55. Canucks and Blues are still tied at 2 with 8:30 to go.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Puck drop soon at the Honda Duck Pond between 2 Pacific division rivals Sharks & Ducks

    ReplyDelete
  57. Both teams have had chances to win this game but neither has been able to do so.

2-2 with under 2 to go.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Ducks had a golden chance to lead but cannot convert...OT at Scottrade

    ReplyDelete
  59. Overtime in St. Louis. I'll be back in 20 minutes or so.

    ReplyDelete
  60. 1-0 Sharks!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OFF A DUCKS SKATE Settoguchi

    ReplyDelete
  61. It's about time the Sharks get a break. Also it's their first lead of the series.

    1-0 Sharks

    ReplyDelete
  62. Will get credit & Pronger making a visit to the box again

    ReplyDelete
  63. I thought i heard post & Hiller reaches back take the puck away... still 1-0

    ReplyDelete
  64. Shit now the Ducks catch a break.

    1-1

    ReplyDelete
  65. Come on Nabby, you scored for Anaheim!

    ReplyDelete
  66. Pavelski penalty proves costly. Ducks score after Nabokov accidentally kicked it into his own net

    ReplyDelete
  67. Cancuks almost scored on a 2 on 1 & Burrows missed the net

    ReplyDelete
  68. I heard post as Canucks almost ended it on a 3 on 1

    ReplyDelete
  69. Unleaded News: The Giants get screwed by the home plate umpire. He called a man safe, when he was out.

    ReplyDelete
  70. A shootout at the Honda Duck Pond

    ReplyDelete
  71. Great game at Scottrade...still in OT

    ReplyDelete
  72. Another PP for Blues...for 4 mins...Kesler high stick

    ReplyDelete
  73. Oof. Kesler gets a 4-minute call for high sticking. Great chance for St. Louis!

    ReplyDelete
  74. Great game so far...Canucks on PP

    ReplyDelete
  75. Canucks kill the 4-minute powerplay and now they are on the power play.

This has been one heck of a day of hockey.

    ReplyDelete
  76. The Sedins are killing me with these hesitant shots and poor attempts on goal.

    ReplyDelete
  77. This Canucks-Blues game is just back and forth and back and forth. Absolutely incredible!

    ReplyDelete
  78. "This is like extra shots at the end of practice." - Craig Simpson

    /College has corrupted my mind.

    ReplyDelete
  79. BURROWS HAS WON IT FOR VANCOUVER!!!!!!!!!! OH MY GOODNESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  80. BURROWS SCORES!!!!!!!!! CANUCKS WIN!!!!!!! 19 SECONDS LEFT IN OVERTIME AND THE CANUCKS HAVE WON THE GAME AND CLINCHED THE SERIES!!!

    ReplyDelete
  81. The Blues almost got it into OT 2 but Burrows just put the dagger into the heart of the Blues.

    ReplyDelete
  82. Meanwhile, San Jose is beating Anaheim 3-2 with 16:29 to go in the 2nd.

    ReplyDelete
  83. Time to head over the the Honda Duck Pond

    ReplyDelete
  84. "Here's Mark and Marc out west." - Jim Hughson

The way he said it made me think that he was going to say "Mark and Marc in the morning."

    ReplyDelete
  85. Here's video of Jussi Jokinen's buzzer-beating, game-winning goal for the Hurricanes.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XIy0h3--Cbs

    ReplyDelete
  86. I'm not sure Forslund will be out of the hospital in time for Game 5 or if Versus will make him work Game 4 of Cap/Blue Shirts

    ReplyDelete
  87. My Heavens!!!! Pronger of all people 3-3

    ReplyDelete
  88. PRONGER SCORES AND THE DUCKS HAVE TIED IT AT 3!!

And 49er16 is not too happy right now, I'm willing to bet. Bad turnover. Bad, bad turnover.

    ReplyDelete
  89. This game is making me nervous.

    Good night to all!

    ReplyDelete
  90. A gift to Pronger...shouldn't allow him to wind up the big shot

    ReplyDelete
  91. 3-3 at the 2nd intermission from the Honda Duck Pond.

    ReplyDelete
  92. "Other teams might go 4,5,or 6 more games than these guys went." - Mike Milbury on the Vancouver Canucks

Umm.....the highest number of games that anyone can play more than the Canucks is 3.

    ReplyDelete
  93. If this game goes into OT, I'll have issues in class tomorrow

    ReplyDelete
  94. 3rd period is underway from Anaheim.

    ReplyDelete
  95. Same here. It's already late as it is. I don't know if I'll be able to make it if it does.

    ReplyDelete
  96. Oh, Jeremy Roenick just missed from point blank range!

And as an aside, it would be awesome to see JR win a Stanley Cup.

    ReplyDelete
  97. PATRICK MARLEAU SCORES!!! AND THE SHARKS LEAD IT 4-3!!

9:10 to go in the game.

    ReplyDelete
  98. I would like to see JR Superstar get the cup one more time...4-3 Sharks on a beautiful Marleau tip & Perry with his head down cause that is a PP goal

    ReplyDelete
  99. They finally convert on the PP for once. Canucks fans are partying like there's no tomorrow. Canadian hockey fans. Most people in my area wish they could riot on the streets but the Leafs are just plain bad.

    ReplyDelete
  100. I remember the days back in the early 2000s before the lockout when the Leafs were more or less playoff regulars and they had all those series with the Flyers. But since the lockout, they have just plain bad. Only one playoff appearance post lock-out and no advancments to the 2nd round, if I recall correctly.

    ReplyDelete
  101. The post lock-out salary cap has hurt them & fans wish it was 1967 where they last won a cup...32 years ago.

    ReplyDelete
  102. Roenick does not have a cup to his name, if I recall correctly.

    ReplyDelete
  103. He was in the finals in 92 but hasn't been there since.

    ReplyDelete
  104. Hiller to the bench with 1:20 to go.

    ReplyDelete
  105. Hiller is pulled now the Ducks trying to tie it up

    ReplyDelete
  106. Sharks survive Game 3 & they need one more in Anaheim to be back in it

    ReplyDelete
  107. Sharks win Game 3!!!

And it was their power play, of all things, that won the game for them.

    Good night!
