The Teams For The NHL And NBA Playoffs Have Been Set

While there is still some jockeying for seeds and matchups going on, both leagues are set on their respective 16 teams that will be competing in the 2 most grueling playoffs in sports. While by a mile, I watch the NBA and the Sixers the least of all the major sports and Philly teams, there is something about the playoffs that pulls me in and gets me to care about the NBA, despite the fact that there are only 2 teams that I care about (the Sixers and the Cavs, and yes, I do like the Cavs, perhaps as much as I like the Sixers). So without further ado, here are the 16 NHL teams and the 16 NBA teams by conference that will be competing for their league's respective title (standings in order of current position; teams can still move up and down in the last few games, once each league has respectively finished, I'll have a post of for each round and update it and add them to the already cluttered sidebar.)

(FYI, if you click on the Phillies April link on the sidebar, you will find my first posting of the MLB standings. I'll try to update it every week or so).

Update: It's official. While it is unknown who will have home-ice advantage in the series, it is known that the Philadelphia Flyers will take on the Pittsburgh Penguins in the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals, a rematch of last year's Eastern Conference Finals where the Pens beat the Flyers 4 games to 1. If the Flyers can get a point out of tomorrow's game, they will be the home team. I'll have more once the entire playoff schedule is released.

  1. The NHL will hit the jackpot with some the matchups. Especially Rangers/Caps, Pens/Flyers & Habs/Bruins. The west is still a bit of a mess but the Flames got a brutal matchup vs the Blackhawks.

  2. Which in part sucks for me because even though I get Versus at home, I don't get it at college and that is where I will be during most of the quarterfinals (I should be done for the year at around the time the conference semis come around), and the Flyers play the Pens, so I can't rely on FSN Pitt to give me an alternate series to watch when the Flyers are not on.

Hopefully I'll be able to find a good stream...
